Someone at work once had the exact same symptoms you are seeing, but with a Mac Pro. I fixed it by running Disk Warrior, which rebuilds the file system on the hard drive.
First place to start for that type of repair is with the emergency boot drive that came with your computer. (My daughter's Macbook Air came with a memory stick that has an emergency boot system on it.) It has a Disk Utility program that can attempt to repair the file system (but it is not as powerful as Disk Warrior), and it also has the hardware test mentioned above by someone else.
I am not sure how one runs Disk Warrior on a Macbook Air, unless there is some way to boot from a DVD on an external drive.
If the file system repairs don't help, then it probably is indeed a hardware problem.
One way to try to repair the file system without the emergency boot drive is to hold down the Apple key plus the letter S when booting, and then typing
fsck -fy
at the unix prompt when it appears.

Error message when i try installing osx on macbook air
Hi i have a macbook air late 2010, worked fine until i booted from external usb drive and somehow formatted the drive and now i cant install nottin,when i boot from usb drive, it boots up and it say installing osx but 5 secounds later this **** message pops up, There was a problem installing Mac osx try reinstalling and no matter how many time i do it same message, even when i try doing it holding command key and r, at the end of the long process i get same message there was a problem try reinstalling it, i need help plz

When you boot from your USB to reinstall. Try opening the Disk Util and running the diagnostics on your Hard Drive (well SDD drive)...
Run also a hardware test to make sure everything is fine (what you have may be a wrond HD or RAM that will need replacing). Try this: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1509
If everything is ok then USB drive you are using may be to blame. Try creating a new one. You can ask a friend with a Mac to create one for you or go to an Apple store where they will reinstal the original OS.

I need HELP switching to iCloud. So many obstacles. . I've upgrade my iPhone software to iOS5 (now I have to get the software in my car upgraded because the iPHone won't play music through the system...another subject.) For iCloud on my Macbook, when I try to upgrade my Macbook software OS 10.6.8 to Lion 10.7.2 (required for iCloud) it says I need "Core 2, Duo, Core i3, i5, i7, or Xeon processor. Does this mean I need a new computer!!! I 2 Ghz Intel core duo is what I have (a 2006, really, macbook -- which I use with a large screen). I'm afraid your Mac cannot be upgraded to Lion, and thus is not compliant with iCloud. The only option you have there is to set Mail up manually to access your iCloud email, but the other facilities won't work.

The Arrangement tab only appears in System Preferences Displays pane if a second display is recognized by the system (the OS). So it seems like your MacBook is not seeing the TV as being connected.
Describe the video connection between MacBook and TV... What type of video out port does your MacBook model have? How is it converted to the type of port used on the TV? -
When I try to start my macbook it gives an error of Please restart your computer, but when i do this i get the same error. This occured after my macbook pro shut down (because of low battery) while it was installing some updates. Please Help?
Try reinstalling OS X. What version did you have installed? If it's Snow Leopard do this:
Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
Do the following:
1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed with reinstalling OS X. Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files. After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install the Combo Updater for the version you prefer from support.apple.com/downloads/. -

My built-in Webcam is not recording correctly. When recording directly to youtube (upload), the audio sounds like a robot. It was not doing that when I first got my new MacBook Air last month. What do I do to fix it?
I have tested it over several days with different internet connections...and have done it with another notebook computer on the same connection and it the video uploaded and recorded fine. I can also use the video webcam with Google Hangouts and it records and works fine. So I know the problem is not internet connection...and apparantly not even the webcam or mic.Try using Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings.

Are you wanting to import iCal to the MacBook Air. Since iCloud doesn't work with 10.6 OSX you probably don't have any data in iCloud yet?

If you have a credit card on file on top of your gift card then it is asking you to confirm the security code for the card, which for a Visa or MasterCard is 3 digits located on the back, or AMEX has 4 digits on the front. This happens just to ensure that you are the account holder, and would happen from time to time whether it was a free or paid app, even if you have a credit through your gift card. This doesn't mean that your credit card will be charged.

What is the error that you're receiving when you try to convert? Is it the "Conversion Failure" message? Can you tell me more about the files you're unable to convert? What application created the PDFs? Are there many pages in these these files, or a complex mix of text and graphics?
It'll also be helpful to know whether you're converting via the ExportPDF website (and what browser you're using), or through Adobe Reader.

In I tunes, when I try to move an IPAD AIR app from one screen to another, when I go to drag the APP the screens become moving targets and I cannot movve the app. Anybody know why? Is ther a setting somewhere? already tried making screens appear bigger and smaller,no help. Was able to do it on older versions of system and ipads.

When I downloaded iWork on my MacBook Air, it didn't copy the application to my other devices. Is that an error or should I buy them again on each device!?
Just redownlod it from the Mac App Store on any other Macs - you won't have to pay for them again. On your iOS devices you will need to purchase the iOS version which is a different program - again, you will only need to buy it the once for all your iOS devices.
