  • House of Cards, 2.season, in german

    Hi All,
hope you can help me. When the 2.season for House of Cards will be available in Itunes Store ?   I still cant find ...thanks.

We are fellow users here on these forums, we won't know if/when it might be released in a particular country.
You can try requesting it that it be added, but it will need to TV company/right-holder to pass the series to Apple and grant them a license to sell it in your country's store : http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html

  • At a loss. Wiring a possessed house I think! Input needed

    Need some help.
I know and have done a lot of networking No pro, but self taught. Did run Ethernet of my whole house (ex wife's house now ) pre wifi days. Running wires, using switches and routers. All worked. Have down a ton of wifi - all Apple gear for myself in my location, friends and family. Good to go. I currently run a bunch in my home for iPhones, computers, netflix, itunes server, Air Video for all devices. Flawless.
So I'm not a dummy at least. So……
To my dads house. My on going project for a year. Great house. Big. Hand built back in the '50's. All plaster. Well made.
1- His office - cable modem to Airport Extreme - named BASE. Across this room, one Airport express (all AX are older g units) for the stereo from computer.
Now when I try to extend this network only for him to use his iPhone with Apple Remote to control music, I have now bought 5 Airport Expresses - the signal will not carry for more than 10 feet at best in this house (it's possessed I swear). NOT KIDDING.
I put an Express 10 feet from the office to a kitchen, why because any further I get no signal connection.
From this Express another one 10 feet for a den.
But the signal is so weak it doesn't work.
The house is plaster - I guess very well plastered and who knows what metal lathering is behind the plaster? It's a ranch.
What could possibly abort wifi signal like this. Oh, I might add, no iPhones work in the house either. We're in NY.Long Island. Major ATT signal. Nada in house. Go outside no problem.
So I'm going to tackle this again this weekend. Start from scratch. Any insight? I'm asking because I'm at a loss and think I'M NUTS! LOL
What would make wifi not carry for any distance? Lot's of windows in the house too.
I'm on the verge of telling him to have cable run another wire and modem to the other side of the house.
I'm stumped. I was going to post a few times but can't imagine why I can't get this working. Feel like a dunce.
Right now he tells me it's no connection in the den. The last AX extender not 10 feet from him.
    Thanks in advance.

In addition to metal, water also will cause significant reduction in signal. The higher the frequency, the worse the problem. (One of the reasons why in the past submarines needed to surface to use their radios.) Perhaps the plaster or wood is exceptionally wet or the particular plaster they used has a high metal content. You may want to try using only 2.4GHz instead of 5HGz because lower frequencies penetrate walls better. I'm grasping for straws, but I'm not sure what else you could try short of tearing down walls.
I will tell a story of one wiring job I did. My boss gave a quote and approval sight unseen. He normally didn't do this but due to various circumstances and time constraints, he took a gamble. The job was to install a DSL modem and wireless router for a doctor's office. The modem and router were in the managers office. The reception area in the next room would have two workstations about 15 feet away, connected wirelessly. The doctor's office would get one laptop connected wirelessly, about 100 feet at the other end of the building. The building was all wood construction so no one foresaw what happened next. The manager's computer was fine since it was wired. One of the wireless reception workstations was fine with full signal strength since it was a line of sight through an open doorway to the router. The other reception workstation was working but only had 50% signal strength. (Not line of sight to the router.) The doctor's laptop had zero bars. I moved the laptop next to the router and got 100% signal strength. I walked the laptop next to the workstation with line-of-sight, and still got 100%. I walked to the other reception workstation and got 50%, same as the workstation. I walked out of the reception area turned left and started to walk down the hallway to the doctor's office. I took no more than 5 steps and got zero bars! I walked back a few steps and the meter jumped to 50%. I had to do this a few times to fully convince myself. It was only a chance conversation I had with one of the nurses who recalled that the former occupant of the office was a dentist. So we surmised that the room that the router was in might have had the x-ray machine, so they would have lined the walls with lead or whatever. In any case, we ended up having to pull wires. But we learned that regardless of what it looks like on the outside... But this does sound quite similar to your experience.
There's also the time that my coworkers found that the whole wall was 1/4" steel plate. The walls were covered with drywall so we didn't know it was there until we ruined a half dozen drill bits. It seemed like it was armor plate steel. We think the building used to be a indoor gun range or something. And there was the time that we encountered hardened concrete walls at an office using a former military building. Fortunately neither of those had Wi-Fi but we likely would have had signal problems in both cases. It taught us that we can't assume and needed to do a thorough inspection ahead of time.
So while I don't think the house is possessed, I do suspect that the original builder used some funky local material. Maybe he was a conspiracy theorist and has tinfoil in all the walls.

  • Quality Loss when transferring AVCHD File from Flash Card to iMovie

I have a Canon HF100 and the HD video looks great when I play directly from the video camera to the television. However, there is a loss in quality when I import to iMovie 08 and play the HD video on quicktime. How can I prevent the loss in quality so that playback on my iMac equals playback directly from the video camera to the TV?

First, be sure to import at "Full" 1920x1080.
Second, when you "Share", pick "Share"/Using Quicktime. This will let you customize settings. In Quicktime Settings, pick AIC with an unlimited data rate. For a smaller file, you can also try h.264 with an very high data rate.

  • Loss of visual display wen changing graphics card

I want to change my graphic card on my dual 500 G4 (currently running on 10.4.11), however I am concerned that once the old card is out I will loose all visual display and therefore will not be abe to follow on-screen instructions when installing the new Driver. Is this a real problem? if so, how do I carry out this procedure?

I have installed cards whose instructions called for installing the new drivers before installing the new card. If your new card falls into that category, no problem.
If drivers need to be installed AFTER the new card is in place, I don't think there will be a problem either. OSX has pre-installed drivers for most cards already; they aren;t the newest but are usually functional. Even without drivers, most cards allow the pass-through of 2D video. Example: new drivers no longer provide graphics acceleration under OS9 any more, but the computer has usable 2D video in OS9. I think you will have no trouble with on-screen assistance.
For what its worth, this is the forum for the very late PowerMac G4s, the "Mirrored Drive Doors" model and the FireWire800. The older G4s get a separate forum here:

You can get help either place, though. The forum software doesn't make it obvious that the other forum is for the early models,

  • House of cards 3. Staffel, 6. Folge

  • ITunes 12.1 not syncing TV Shows with 1st Gen Apple TV

I recently purchased season 2 of House of Cards via iTunes on my Mac. My 1st generation Apple TV and my 12.1 Version of iTunes syncs my music, pictures, movies, but not the TV shows. The setting are set to "Sync All Unwatched Shows". I reset my Apple TV to "Factory Settings" and reconfiged everything. Everything syncs except the TV Shows. I only have 2 Apple TV errors for 1080 movies that I know will not play on my Apple TV. I have download many TV Shows in the past and have had no problems syncing. This occurred since I upgraded to iTunes V12.1. I was traveling for 2 months and playing the TV shows directly from my MacBook Pro via HDMI cable. I updated iTunes in January and just returned home. This is the first time I tried to sync with iTunes 12.1 and Apple TV.

Yes, fix needed here or I'll have to start considering MS and Apple of the same breed. Software that does things for you that you don't want it to do is Microsofts design that caused me to move to Apple long ago, and releasing software that "Just doesn't work" isn't very Appley... Or is it now? Hmmm...  Maps anyone?
That aside, my related problem is with the "Unwatched" sorting of TV shows which is very oddly messed up, not consistantly all have changed in one direction or another and they are oddly changing in the wrong direction in some cases without my touching the manual (Rightclick) setting.
With this issue, a major convenience of Apple TV and other devices is turned into an inconvenience.
    Please fix.

  • Season Pass not working right - House

This is the first time I've bought a season pass. I bought it between new episodes so it's the first time I've wanted to download a new episode with my season pass (season 3 of House).
The season finale aired on Tuesday night. The FAQs say that the episode should be available for download the following morning (Wednesday). It's now Thursday and still not showing up as being avaialable for download.
I paid for a season pass and it means I can't watch the latest episodes until how long after they've aired? It's not worth it if I can't get it after it's aired. Now that I'm caught up, I'll record it on my DVR and watch it as soon as it's over if I can't get it from iTunes in a timely manner.
What's the point of paying forty bucks for something if I can't watch it after everyone's seen it on TV and are ruining the ending for me by talking about it before I can see it with this thing?
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   Season Pass, House, current episodes

So how do you reach them to complain? There are about 30 rants on the ITunes Mad Men reviews page, but that's to rate the show; I doubt the ITunes technicians (if any) read them. I've been back and forth with ITunes help and can't find any email address or phone number. And the page for Apple Help -- "Ask an expert!" -- specifically says the ITunes store isn't covered. Is this the perfect scam? They take our money, tell us all sales are final, and then make themselves unreachable.

  • House 7 episodes?

I have purchased the season pass for House 7. Why is there onlt five episodes on iTunes when there have been 8 aired already?
    Thanks.

It may take some time until episodes, that have been aired, will be available through iTMS

  • Which is the maximum number of simultaneous IP sessions on 7600 with/out SAMI?

Please I need help from someone who has ever wondered and get to know the maximum number of simultaneous IP sessions on 7600.
On the documentation, this is the applicable information that we find regarding the number of sessions:
    http://www9.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/isg/configuration/guide/isg_acess_sub_sessns_ps6922_TSD_Products_Configuration_Guide_Chapter.html
Beginning in Cisco IOS Release 12.2(33)SRE, the Cisco 7600 router supports IP subscriber sessions only on the SIP400 and ES+ line cards
The Cisco 7600 router enforces limits on the number of IP subscriber sessions per line card and router chassis. If the number of active sessions exceeds the following limits, an error message displays:
    - Cisco 7600 chassis—32,000 subscriber sessions (supported in Cisco IOS Release 12.2(33)SRE1 and later releases)
    - ES+ line card—4000 subscriber sessions per port group; 16,000 sessions per line card (supported in Cisco IOS Release 12.2(33)SRE and later releases)
    - SIP400 line card—8000 subscriber sessions (supported in Cisco IOS Release 12.2(33)SRD4 and later releases)
Let us suppose that we use the SIP400 line card, since ES+ is far from our networking requirements.
    Please confirm/answer the following:
No special license is required to use ISG with SIP400.
Is the 8000 session limitation per SIP400 module or per SPA attached to it?
I read in the documentation, that the SAMI card enhances the maximum number of ISG sessions:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/isg/configuration/guide/isg_sup_sami_blade.html
The ISG Support for SAMI Blade feature combines the subscriber management features and functions of the Cisco Intelligent Services Gateway (ISG) with the processing power of the Cisco Service Application Module for IP (SAMI). The Cisco SAMI blade has six PowerPC (PPC) processors and occupies just one slot in the Cisco 7600 series router. This means that you can support many ISG features for up to 600,000 subscribers on a single router.
We then assume that the SAMI blade overcomes the limitations noted above: 32,000 session/chassis and 8,000 sessions/SIP400. Correct?
No extra license is required to use ISG with SAMI.

How I can load a license in a home agent (modulo SAMI), which is installed in a 7606-S router?.

  • Why does iTunes make a mess out of my TV Shows library?

I'm not really sure where to post this, as it doesn't seem like Apple pays much attention to the official Apple Support Forums, but I'll give it a go nontheless.
The thing is, as most Apple TV owners I have to rely on iTunes for handling my media library in order to get it working towards my Apple TV (currently an Apple TV 3rd Generation, Rev A) which is perfectly fine. I find iTunes to be very well organised and owning several OS X systems, only using iOS devices and everything my music library already consists of only ALAC (Apple Lossless) music tracks and I like to keep all my audio books in M4B (AAC) simply because it’s much better organized this way. As long as all the metadata is done right one can’t really complain about how iTunes is doing things other than the Windows version being rather slow when you start filling it up with content, the OS X version is vastly superior in terms of performance and overall stability but I guess that is to be expected.
I have absolutely no problems with my ALAC (Apple Lossless) music library, no matter how many tracks I add they are all there, with the correct metadata and everything. Same goes for my audio book library, the only ones being somewhat troublesome are those I’ve got in MP3 format instead of M4B (AAC) as they get automatically listed as music instead of audio books, but that’s fixed within a matter of seconds just marking them as audio book in iTunes metadata. My movie library, which used to consists of loads of self-ripped Blu-Rays encoded to MKV’s with either Dolby Digital 5.1 or DTS 5.1 is now repacked into M4V / MP4 containing Dolby Digital 5.1 (AC-3) and with the help of metadata downloaded from IMDB they are all listed correctly with the correct metadata, so all is good and dandy.
But when it comes to TV-Shows things starts to get messy. We are still talking about only M4V / MP4 files containing mostly Dolby Digital 5.1 (AC-3) audio tracks, and a few containing 2.0 AAC audio tracks. The problem is iTunes is making a complete mess out of things, no matter what I do.
Some TV-shows are added and shown correctly in my iTunes library, others are just not working out at all! Take my six seasons of LOST for instance.
I tried to redo the metadata on the first six episodes of season 06, but they just won’t show no matter what I do. The weirdest thing with these episodes is that when I manually play the M4V files using iTunes, iTunes recognise them as LOST Season 02 episodes and not Season 03 episodes. So LOST Season 03 - Episode 01 which is "01. A Tale of Two Cities" is shown as LOST Season 02 - Episode 10 which is "10. The 23rd Psalm". That's quite odd, which was the reason why I went ahead and rework the metadata of these episodes just to be sure.
But still it won’t show in the iTunes library and when manually opening the M4V files with iTunes it still shown as being "10. The 23rd Psalm" instead of "01. A Tale of Two Cities". If I open the file with QuickTime Player, Windows Media Player or Media Player Classic Home Cinema they all list it as "01. A Tale of Two Cities" and not "10. The 23rd Psalm" as iTunes does. Watching the playback is making quite clear it's indeed playing back A Tale of Two Cities and not The 23rd Pslam episodes, even in iTunes.
I have no clues why iTunes is making a mess out of the first six episodes of LOST Season 03, it really doesn't make much sense as there is nothing with the M4V files, their contains or their metadata that points towards iTunes recognising it as a LOST Season 2 episode at all.
Just to confirm the metadata in iTunes I tried to remove the whole LOST series from my library and went ahead and added ONLY the first six episodes of Season 03 and nothing else. Then they are showing correctly, with the correct metadata for each and every episode.
But upon adding the rest of the bunch they disappear and suddenly iTunes starts mixing the first six episodes of Season 03 as Season 02 episodes...
As soon as I add any episode of LOST Season 02, 10-15 they seem to replace LOST Season 03, 1-6. So Season 03 is working perfectly, having all the right metadata and everything but as soon as I add LOST Season 02, Episode 10, LOST Season 03, Episode 01 starts playing as LOST Season 02, Episode 10 and then disappears from the library. Upon adding and playing back LOST Season 02, Episode 11 it replaces LOST Season 03, Episode 02 which then disappears from the library and this goes on for episode 10-15 of Season 02 which for some reason replaces episode 01-06 of Season 03.
This isn’t isolated to only LOST, same goes for a few of my House M.D season whereas iTunes is starting make a mess of things mixing metadata of Season 3 with metadata of Season 4 for no obvious reason. This is quite frustrating as this renders my Apple TV quite useless when iTunes is not capable of handling my media library correctly.
Several episodes are missing in quite a few of my various TV Shows as well, some requires me to manually open the M4V / MP4 while browsing my library for it to get listed as it’s not being added while adding the folder to my library.
This has been going on ever since iTunes 10.X, and it’s behaving like this on all my system it being Windows 7, Windows 8, OS X Mountain Lion or OS X Mavericks. Surely something has to be done in order to solve this? There is nothing wrong with my M4V / MP4 files as I’ve re-ripped them, re-encoded them, re-done their metadata and everything without any luck and consider it only happens with various TV shows and not with my music, audio book nor my movie library I see nothing pointing at it being a problem with my content but rather iTunes making it all fuzzy for no apparent reason.

Seems like I actually figured out what was going on.. When I re-do my MKV's into MP4 / M4V's applications like Subler, MKVtoMP4 and other toolkits are grabbing metadata from servers like IMDB.
Upon retrieving metadata they also grab something called "XID" which is supposedly Apple's very own iTunes specific ID or serial if you like for each specific TV show available through the iTunes Store. This seems to be causing the problems with missing episodes and episodes starting to playback as a different episode from another season.
I always wondered why House Season 04 - Episode 01 - "Alone" always got played back as House Season 03 - Episode 11 - "Words of Deeds". It was always the exact same mix-up each and every time. iTunes never seems to mix-up anything other than the same specific episodes each and every time, and all the missing episodes are always the same ones, from the same TV show, from the very same season. I always found that a bit strange as I would expect library mix-ups from iTunes to be somewhat random and not consistent like this.
So I tried to simply tried something completely random, renaming House Season 04 - Episode 01 - "Alone" into "RARW Season 11 - Episode 42 - "Come at me bro"" and House Season 03 - Episode 11 - "Words of Deeds" into "TESTING Season 04 - Episode 05 - "Testing this"" and it will still do the same, now my randomly generated metadata of "RARW Season 11 - Episode 42 - "Come at me bro"" was played back as "TESTING Season 04 - Episode 05 - "Testing this"". So it clearly had nothing to do with whatever metadata I added to the video within iTunes, it would continuously mix-up the very same episode no matter what.
So then I grab my toolkit to see what kind of information was garter from IMDB's database to see if I could spot anything weird going on? I didn't really see anything, but I noticed the XID with it's "Apple:vendor_id:2003-tt0367279" input, so even though these two episodes had different XIDs I tried to simply input my very own like "House Season 03" and "House Season 04" and then all of sudden everything worked out perfectly.
I'm not entirely sure whos to blame here. As the XID was indeed different I see no reason why iTunes should confuse one for the other in the first place, perhaps there is something fuzzy with the iTunes database or something. I don't really care though, I see no value in having the "correct" XID as long as my iTunes library is showing and playing back everything correctly so now I have just went ahead and re-done ALL my XID's of every TV Show to have their very own for each season just to make sure nothing like this ever happens again.

  • Iphoto picture quality suddenly very poor

Hi, I have recently solved a problem with your help in relation to Iphoto running very slow.
I now have another problem. Whilst I was installing the Leopard OS and the TC, I had a problem with the installation (now resoleved) but one of the apple techs (amongst other things) talked me through rebooting in safe mode. After I rebooted, the image quality of my photos seem to very poor when I enlarge them and are very poor when I run a slideshow. Also the photo I use for my wallpaper is also very poor - the pixilation seems to be not quite right.
Does anyone know how or why this has happened or can offer any help in resolving the problem?
    Thank you very much,
    Eileen

I too have poor image quality since i had a loss of power at the house while using Iphoto. All of my photos were gone from iphoto after reboot. I imported them from the back up file to recover them but since then the quality is terrible.

  • Internal Airport card

I have read all kinds of posts on airport , but they do not answer a question or two that I have . My daughter bought an iPod in April of this year and we were able to use the airport card in the iMac to connect to the internet . Then when Snow Leopard came out I installed it on that day . Then the connection started to be on and off then I couldn't turn airport on unless I rebooted then it may or may not work . One apple support person said that I shouldn't even be able to share the internet that way . I got ahold of another person in support and she had me do some things to see if the hardware was the problem . It wasn't so she had me do a clean install of snow leopard and it has worked fine until three days ago . Now apple support says that what I am trying to do is not supported and I was more or less lucky to have had it work that way . So they say I need a router . Even my wife's net book has been doing what the ipod touch has been doing . Now my other question is even if I had a router to connect to the airport card it would have to receive and transmit , which support says it is not a transmitter . What the blank is the airport card suppose to do the , besides take up room Thank you for reading this far .

Yes I am frustrated . But don't get me wrong my iMac is a thing beautiful . What I have is DSL comes into the house and into my DSL modem then into my iMac . And I was using the internal airport card to share internet with the iPod and a net book . Right now my air port is off and I cant turn it on unless I restart . There is only one support person that helped me and I am trying to get ahold of her. And yes it was working befor for internet shareing but not now . And I live at least 150 miles from an apple store . Oh blue me spare and agony on me .
This is one response I have recieved
.Ah… Mac OS X 10.6.x: and therein, lies the problem. Apple may have dropped explicit support for what is termed Internet Sharing with the release of Snow Leopard's first update, but it is not entirely clear if this is the case. Behind the scenes, there are mixed messages. Some AppleCare support and Apple Store employees have indicated that it is no longer explicitly supported, while others have insisted that it is. The question has been escalated to Engineering, but it may be weeks before there is an official answer or, if necessary, a fix. They've done things like this before—with Address Book interaction for dialing or SMS transmission with a mobile handset, for example, with the introduction of Mac OS X 10.5—and telephony features like that one I just described have never been reintroduced.
I reiterate that as someone who deals extensively with network issues and has for more than 15 years, that using this capability is a VERY poor practice. I get that it's cheap and convenient, but it exacts a terrible cost on other users worldwide. The direct connection of any device to a 'data utility' provider is the reason that SO many machines, connected around the clock to broadband providers, have become network 'zombies' or 'botnets.' There are hundreds of thousands of them now, and these machines are almost exclusively the driver for DNS, distributed denial of service, data theft, and trojan software insertion. While it's true that such machines are typically limited to those running Windows XP or earlier, it really is a huge issue. Our electronic commerce site is routinely attacked literally hundreds of times a day.
I suggest that to protect yourself—and, in particular, that Windows OS based netbook—as well as others, that you purchase a suitable hardware router and gateway with wireless capabilities, and that you enable WPA security at a minimum.
Believe me, a single successful attack against an XP machine, even once detected, will cost you many times the dollar cost of a typical gateway, in just a single incident. Not to mention the ongoing cost of the loss of personal information, such as credit card data, bank account and other financial information, and loss due to your passwords being 'lifted' by a nefarious program inserted into your network.
I appreciate that you don't expect passers-by to log onto your wireless network in a rural area, but—by far—the greatest threat is being hit by robotic queries from the outside edge of your net, not the inside edge. If you choose to install a router and look at its logs after attaching and configuring it, you will be shocked at the volume of unsolicited queries or 'attacks' of your IP address.
