You can but only in TextEdit and Preview and only if you have access to a Snow Leopard installation. Check out the link near the end of this thread: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3745201?start=0&tstart=0 and then proceed at your own risk.

How can I turn off the auto renewal for Hulu plus?
How can I turn off the auto renewal for Hulu Plus? I can not seem to follow the instructions given...I can not launch I tunes and have a menu appear.......
My special needs son accidentally signed up for this trial offer and I want it cancelled immediately. I have received an email from them, but can not get it to work and I have been trying for over a week.......feeling frustrated.How/where are you trying to stop the subscription ?
If you are using iTunes on a PC and the drop-down menus aren't showing at the top of iTunes then see if control-B gets them to show, or try alt-S and see if that gets the Store drop-down menu to show. You should also be able to cancel subscriptions by tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Store on your iPod Touch an logging into your account.

How do I turn off the auto saving to my contact list of every e-mail address I send a note to?
It might help knowing that Apple uses the term "Versions" instead of AutoSave. I have not yet found how to turn it off, but in the meantime, here's how to delete "Previous Versions":
Do one of the following:
If you have unsaved changes in a document, choose File > Revert To, and then click Previous Save.
Hold the pointer to the right of the document title, click the downward-facing arrow, and then choose Browse All Versions from the pop-up menu.
Click a gray tick mark along the timeline on the right to display various versions of your document.
Do one of the following:
To restore your document to the state of a particular version, display that version, and then click Restore.
To delete the displayed older version, hold the pointer to the right of its title, click the downward-facing arrow, and then choose Delete This Version. To delete all older versions, press the Option key while holding the pointer to the right of the older version’s title, click the arrow, and then choose Delete Old Versions.
To create a new untitled document that duplicates a particular version, display the version, press the Option key, and then click “Restore a Copy.”
To leave your document in its current state, click Done. -
How can I turn off the auto login on Netbook running Ubuntu OS
During the initialisation of the machine AUTO LOGIN was already highlighted.
Unfortunately I only noticed it as I hit the next key.
How do I turn off the auto login?
I think I change the /etc/gdm/gdm.conf , but would like confirmation as this is a slightly different version of Linux.
malcolliDecided to give the full Ubuntu system answer to this and it works just fine.
In a terminal issue the command: sudo /usr/sbin/gdmsetup
This will bring up the gdm gui and there you can turn off auto login, and the timed login.

Preview - How do I turn off the Auto Save?
I recently updated my software to 10.8.2 and Preview is terrible when it comes to saving files.
I regularly take a picture and change it to then copy the result without saving the file. I recently learned that the programs been saving when I didn't want it too. Now I have a ton of damage control to get too but in the meantime, does anyone know how to prevent the files from autosaving? I'm sure there's a way since the SAVE command still exists and it seems beyond common sense to overwrite a file without checking first.
Also, SAVE AS appears to be replaced by DUPLICATE. It's a bunch of added steps to get the same SAVE AS results. Is there a fix for this too?

How Do I turn off the auto save password for a specific site?
A key comes up and asks if I want to save a password for every time I log in to certain sites. Sometimes I would like it to save but where does it have a feature to stop asking me? the old one did and I don't see that on the new one. Thanks.
Firefox doesn't do email, it's a web browser.
If you are using Firefox to access your mail, you are using "web-mail". You need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.

I hope you understand this
I think you are talking about auto-alignment.
Hold down the command key as you drag the image.

I am using earphones, but the external audio of my mini ipad is still on. How can I turn off the external audio while listening with my headset/earphones?
Other than iMovie, GB always incorporates the audio files into the GB package. So just save or move the GB project to the external drive, and you're done - anything you import, edit or record will be saved to the external drive.

Is there any way to turn off the auto formatting in Pages? I'm using a blank document, so I figured I could write my letter and add pictures any way I wanted to. But NO! Pages keeps changing the font size! I typed a large heading as a title, and when I try to change to a smaller font for the body of the letter, it changes the size back to the larger size! I am getting SO FRUSTRATED! I've spent over an hour trying to get the stupid program to let me just type my letter! Can anyone help?
The only one left is the "unsubmitted text" dialogue, which would not be a problem if I were not a Facebook user; after updating the "Richard is..." field (which does not require a manual submit to actually send) I get the above message. This is obviously Safari just not realising that the info has been sent and is therefore (I imagine) one for Apple themselves to answer!!
You're welcome Rich. Glad to help.
Not being a Facebook User, I'm not sure how to respond to the error situation. However, this would be something to report to Apple as a bug via the Safari Menu. First, open to the page in question, then select "Report Bugs to Apple".

How do you turn off the auto select behavior when working with shape layers?
How do you turn off the auto select behavior when working with shape layers?
I am using either of the path selection tools to select only some of the paths on the layer. I have the proper layer targeted. I have the selection too auto select option turned off.
If another layer has a path in that area, that layer becomes auto targeted and I get the wrong path. Turning off the layer is the only way to avoid this but then I have to turn on the layer back on between making my selection and transforming to use the other layer as guide. Is there any way to stop this auto select? Locking the other layer does not stop the auto select, just prevents editing. As far as i know the move tool options don't have any effect on the path selection tools.
You might try clicking on one of the path points or on the path itself with one of path selection tools and if you want to select multiple points
you can shift click with the Direct Selection Tool or Alt click to select the entire path.

How can I turn off the 2 blue lines running vertically in my image in Photoshop?
How can I turn off the 2 blue lines running vertically through my image in Photoshop? I want to save my work but do not know if these lines will persist in the saved image.

I assume the Rulers are showing. In that case, to get rid of each line use the Move tool to straddle the line and drag it whence it came. I really didn't need to add this comment but it is the first time in years I have had a chance to use the word "whence".
Is this a guide I see before me? Doeth it conspire to confuseth mine eyes with sapphire lines that afoul my worthy parchment, and draw my quill from its righteous path? Be gone foul guide from whence thou cometh. Verily, forsooth, and hey nonny nonny.
