HT4757 When will Apple iPhoto/Aperture support the new Leica V-Lux 4 camera RAW format ?

I just bought a Leica Vlux-4 and found that the current verisons of Aperture and iPhoto do not reconize the RAW files like they do for earlier versions and all of the Canon & Nikon DSLR's.  I see from the support doc that Apple supports the Vlux-1 and 2, so when will RAW support be added for the Vlux-4 ?
I dont want to move to Lightroom but it already supports the Vlux-4 camera !
Thanks.

while this all may be true,
it is all speculation, and we are not supposed to speculate here; Apple does not publish the reasons for missing raw support, and for the Vlux-4 it is early days yet. There may very well be a raw update including your camera soon. The only difference I see, is that the the Vlux-1 & 2 did not come with Lightroom included, only with PSE, and the support stopped, when Lightroom was included - the direct competition to Aperture.
Send feedback to Apple to let them know!
Regards
Léonie

  • When will Lightroom and Elements support the Nikon D600?

When will Lightroom and Elements support the Nikon D600?  In the meantime is there a workaround so the D600 raw files can be exported to Lightroom or am I simply out of business until Adobe develops the needed patch?
As best as I have been able to figure out I may as well rebox the 600 and go back to my older, supported camera, until whenever.

A: What were you using before your precious D600 showed up today.
    A D90 with good glass.
    Nikon 70-200 f2.8, Nikon 24-70 f2.8, Voigtlander 58 f1.4, Tokina 11-16 f2.8.
Now I need to get a good FF wide solution for the D600.
Trigger on the D600 is much more stiff than my D90 so I'm having to press down a bit harder to get the AF confirmation. Just need to get used to that I guess.
FYI, JPG files right out of the camera are looking good.
B: Don’t you think Adobe wants to sell you the next generation product/upgrade to accommodate all of our insatiable photographic pursuits???
I had been using Apple's Aperture and switched to Lightroom a couple of months ago. I thought the price was actually quite fair for the power of the LR software. I did have to updgrade my computer's RAM....
C: Have a nice glass of wine tonight and enjoy your $2K investment. I’m personally looking forward to savoring a next generation photographic paradigm.
We did enjoy some vino last night! I was thinking I would possibly jump ship to Sony A99 and just switch to all Zeiss glass with autofocus, but I'm not convinced that the EVF is for me, and I'm really not a video shooter, mostly just landscape and real estate. Also, I the Sony turned out to be priced a bit too high for me personally in comparision to the D600.
    Buenos Dias!

  • When will Apple update Aperture?

When will Apple update Aperture to process Nikon D7100 NEF (RAW) files?

No one outside of Apple knows.

  • HT5182 I wonder if iPhoto supports the new Sony DSC-RX100 II camera.

I wonder if iPhoto supports the new Sony DSC-RX100 II camera. I know it is not supported by Aperture. Can anyone help please?

It's the system that supports the RAW formats. So if Aperture doesn't support it neither will iPhoto.
You'll have to wait until a new Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update is issued by Apple for the camera.

  • When will Apple release Aperture 4?

I've seen reviews saying that Aperture 3 is slow compared to Lightroom 4. The Amazon reviews generally prefer Lightroom over Aperture as well, though people seem to agree that Aperture has a better interface. I like Apple products and would like to go with Aperture, but I won't buy version 3.
Any ideas as to a timeline for version 4? I'm a little concerned that, aside from the operating systems, Apple seems to be ignoring its software lately. iWork is still '09

    Apple, unfortunately, do not give timelines for new releases until a product has been announced. Many people would like to see a new release of Aperture for a number of reasons;
    - new features
    - problem/bug fixes
    - confirm Apple's continuing commitment to this product at a professional level.
It's also a question of investment; I switched from Windows to Mac because of Aperture and that has brought with it a slew of other s/w and h/w. If I have to go back it will be an expensive move financially and time wise in repeating the learning curve.
It bothers me though. Just reading a forum post on photonet where the poster asked about Raw processing, in five pages there were only 2 mentions of Aperture versus many mentions of Lightroom. A few years ago it would have been the other way round.
My view is that Apple's brilliant success in the consumer product market has somewhat marginalised Aperture. The value proposition to Apple is that if it in someway combines iPhoto and Aperture with a new interface it can offer an attractive image improvement system to its consumer market. In financial terms this would be a big winner.
Alternatively I would love to see Aperture 4 with a strong marketing and support campaign aimed at holding on to its current market and bringing back some of the lost users.

  • When will Elements and Lightroom support the RAW files from the Olympus em5 Mark 2 camera?

Camera was launched in Feb 15. As far as I understand, neither product will open the RAW files for some months. When will that be, does anyone know?

Adobe Camera Raw gets updated three or four times per year in an orderly fashion.
Beyond that, Adobe does not comment on unreleased software.
It should not take over nine (9) months, but it could be as early as at the time of the next orderly release

  • TS1702 When will Apple come out with a new update because the last one totally screwed up my Ipod? Whenever I try to get on an app, it crashes. I can't even download any more apps. I can't get on safari or most apps without it crashing.

Why does the new update for IPod screw up the function? I can't get on hardly any of my apps, let alone, download any more apps either. I am one unhappy person.

Did you already try to set it up as new device, without using the backup afterwards?

  • Will Windows XP/iTunes support the new Nano I bought last week?

I went to the Apple store last week (Nov. 2012) and the tech there told me the new 16-gig Nano would not link to iTunes on my Windows XP desktop.  However, a clerk at a nearby electronics store, where I actually bought the device, said it would work as long as I have the latest edition of iTunes.  Both guys told me that I could network iTunes from my XP desktop to my Windows 7 laptop, although I have no clue how to do that.

*I bought my Nano in Dec 2006. Assuming it is 2nd generation.*

*Now the Nano battery charges when I connect the USB cable to the Windows XP Pro system but Real and iTunes is not able to "see" my Nano*

  • When is Apple going to fix the new OS once and for all?

Since upgrading my iPhone to the new OS, I can no longer:  Open internet links contained in emails/messages; set custom ring tones for my contacts (or more accurately, I can set them but the phone will not retain them); get pop-up reminders (even though they are properly set in my calendar); or use the Bluetooth feature to pair with the hands-free link in my car.  Every one of these features worked flawlessly under the old OS.  If Apple is not going to fix these issues, they should at least allow users to revert back to the old operating system.  Am I the only one experiencing these types of issues and frustrations?

I am having none of these issues, nor is anyone I know.
    Sorry
    Have you tried a restore?

  • Will Apple offer student on the new iPad?

Is there a discount for students that wants to buy the new iPad? If so, how would I go about claiming it?

There is currently no discount available for students for the the new ipad. Its unlikely that you will see the new ipad discounted unil the end of the year. When they do discount it though dont exect it to be more than maybe a 40 dollar discount.

  • Will Lightroom 3.2 support the Tethering of a Nikon D7000 camera or of a Nikon D3100 camera?

I am thinking about buying one of Nikon's new camera.  will lightroom 3 support the tethering of a Nikon D7000 or a Nikon D3100 camera?
    Thanks,

Check the list of presently supported models - that will be your best indicator of what to expect in the near future.

  • MY CS5 does not support my new Canon 7D Mark II camera Raw files on my Mac - what needs to be downloaded?

I'm having trouble getting the CR2 files from my new Canon 7D Mark II camera to CS5/Bridge - it says the files are not supported by the installed version of RAW.  The DNG Converter dos not seem to help (I noticed it works for CS6 & CC only)  What needs to be done?

I don't know your OS. If you have Vista (Windows) or OSX 10.6.8, you can only go to DNG 8.3, not the 8.7.1 you need.
    What is your OS version?
