  • My computer's hard drive crashed and now that its fixed I want to download previously purchased songs from Itunes

My computer's hard drive crashed and now that its fixed (my computer) I want to download previously purchased songs from Itunes.  When I'm signed into Itunes and attempt to download from the cloud a text box pops up saying "I need to authorize the computer before I can download previous purchases".  I'm using the same computer that I purchased all previous songs.  So how do I authorize my computer?

    On your Computer...
    Open iTunes...
If you're using iTunes 11 click on the box icon in the top-left corner to see the " Show Menu Bar "
and from the Menu Bar select Store...
From the Store menu, choose Authorize This Computer.
(In earlier versions of iTunes, access this option from the Advanced menu).
When prompted, enter your Apple ID and password, then click Authorize.

How can I re-download previously purchased songs from itunes?

You only get one download.  It is your responsibility to backup your purchases.
UNLESS, you are in the U.S, then you can use the Beta version of icloud.  Open itunes store, click Purchased, under Quick links

  • HT203167 I recently downloaded my previous purchased items from iTunes but I have found that some songs dont play or have only downloaded half of the actual song :/

I recently downloaded my previous purchased items from iTunes but I have found that some songs dont play or have only downloaded half of the actual song :/ when i go to iTunes>Purchased it says that the songs have already been downloaded, which means i cant re-download them. is there a way I can re-download my previous purchased songs?

Once you successfully add you iTunes library to iTunes Match, you go to Settings>iTunes & App Store on your iOS device and turn on iTunes Match.  Your iTunes Match library will then appear on your iOS device.

  • How do I re-download previously purchased songs from Itunes?

I had purchased some songs from Itunes on an old PC. Now when I go to itunes it shows those songs as "puchased", but I can't figure out how to put them on my new computer. It doesn't give me any options to download them again or even pay for them again. What am I doing wrong?

You would have to copy the music to a computer that is supported and sync it from there.

  • After downloading iOS5 cannot purchase songs from iTunes store

After downloading iOS5 I cannot access the iTunes store on my iPhone or iPad but i can on my PC laptop.to purchase songs. Only podcasts are available. Anyone else having this problem?

I believe that you're seeing another symptom of the iTunes store authentication problems reported elsewhere. iTunes, the store, MobileME and others are all rather integrated and a problem in one of those has affected all the rest. For instance, I am able to purchase new content but cannot authenticate the old content. Others are unable to purchase at all.
Be patient. Apple has known about this problem since Aug 4 and I assume they're working on something. It should be days (but not hours) before they resolve it.

  • I need to download a previously purchased movie from iTunes.

I bought several movies on my iPod and would like to watch them on my iPad 2 now. iTunes insists I buy them again, and I'm mad enough to switch away from apple forever because their tech support is nonexistent. I own about 10k$ worth of products with my family and business. Dell would help like crazy. I feel like a fool for buying all these expensive apple products. I could get better support from walmart!

Easy, buy them again! You just won't be charged. It looks like you're being charged, but you're really not. This also goes with apps, music, etc.
    This is NOT TRUE.
    You will be charged.
You get only one download of movies.  It is your responsibility to back them up.
    Rebuying is never the answer.

  • Why is authorization required on previously purchased songs from itunes?

Only some songs are affected. This is and has been my only imac. I correctted permissions in the disk utility with no change. Appreciate any help you can give. Thanks.

    Kubota Man,
Sometimes authorization is required if you have reinstalled the operating system. Such as, an Archive and Install, or a restore using the discs that came with the computer.
See the following for more authorization/deauthorization information:
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/authorization/
The form at the bottom lets you pose the question to the The iTunes Store Customer Service group.
    Hope this helps,

  • I just purchased a new Mac and I am trying to download my previously purchased songs.   I am only getting a portion of each song though.  What is happening and how do I fix it?

I just purchased a Mac and downloaded my previously purchased songs from iTunes, however it only downloaded a portion of the song (about 1:15) and this appears to be the same on all of the songs.   What is happening and how can I fix it?

    Hello Pork Chop 2,
Congratulations on your new Mac!  It sounds like your purchased songs are not playing completely after you downloaded them.  I recommend to following steps for an issue like this:
    Symptoms
Occasionally, if a song purchased from the iTunes Store on a Mac or PC was not downloaded completely, the song may not play back fully. The song may abruptly stop during playback, and iTunes may start playing the next song in your library or playlist.
    Resolution
If iTunes in the Cloud is available in your country, try the following steps to resolve the issue:
Delete the purchased song that is exhibiting the problem from your iTunes library.
Click on the Purchased link in the iTunes Store to view your previously purchased music.
Download your previously purchased song from this list.
