HT4759 Does I Cloud use more battery life

Does I Cloud use more battery life?

I suspect that if you turn on the backlight to look at the artwork, the backlight uses battery juice. I doubt the physical presence or absence of album art uses any more juice.
BTW, I don't believe the album art uses a "**** of a lot of MB". It probably only adds a few KB to the song file since it is so small.

  • Why does OS7 use more battery on iphone?

Upgraded to OS7 from 6.1.4 which was much better on battery life. Why does OS 7 use so much battery and how can I reinstall OS6?
Its using approx 10% of battery life every hour, when not using the phone and all apps switched off, push notifications off etc - if I was actually using the phone and making calls battery will be dead in no time!

Due to higher compression rate of WMA. The player will need higher processing power to process it thus the higher battery consumption but it should not affect it very much around 0-5% more only.

  • What uses more battery: Push or Fetch?

I have recently downloaded MobileMe and using it mainly to add / edit my contacts and callender.
Im just wondering, which setting will be best for me, Push or Fetch?
I'll only be editing things on MobileMe about once a day, so is it best to use Push? I.e only using the connection when its needed.
Is it fair to say that Fetch uses more battery life because its connecting more frequently and often for no new data?
    Hope this makes sense!
    Thanks
    James

Push uses more battery power. The second bit of advice from Apple increasing battery life is to turn off Push (the third is to reduce the Fetch frequency).
Fetch, at most, can check every 15 minutes. Push must ping the server frequently to maintain a 'live' connection, so updates can be pushed to the phone as soon as they hit the server.
In your case, Jim's advice seems best - just turn off Push, set Fetch to Manual and check when you like.

  • Why is iOs 8 using so much more battery life on my 5c??

Ever since updating to iOs 8 with the supposed bug fixes, my 5c uses MUCH more battery life and I am NOT on it during the day at work except to make 4 -5 short phone calls!!!  I hate it!!  Wish I'd never updated.  I have decreased screen brightness, turned off notifications for practically everything, and usually only play a little Solitaire and check FB for about 15 - 20 min. each evening.  Also, FB isn't working at all since I've updated.  I can open it and see old stuff but no new posts to FB.  Come on, Apple!!  This isn't what we wanted.  Believe me, lesson learned.  I won't update ever again to a new Os.  This is ridiculous.  I loved my 5c and it was working fabulously with great battery life!!  I only bought my first iPhone 6 months ago and WAS in love with it UNTIL NOW!!  Does anyone have any suggestions???

Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new device.
Have you tried ALL the troubleshooting steps?  If you have and you're still having problems, then you'll need to bring your phone into Apple for evaluation and possible exchange.
There is no supported way to downgrade the iOS.

  • What actually uses more battery power - WiFi or 3G ?

I've read conflicting thoughts, so I wanted to ask which actually uses more battery power - WiFi or 3G ?
Does anyone leave WiFi disabled all the time?

Thanks for all your responses. I suspected WiFi used more power and you guys confirmed that.
BTW - Michael, 0.5 watts is 500 milliwatts... so you're off base with the comparison of the couple-of-hundred milliwatts for wifi vs. 0.5-1.0 watts for 3G. Excuse me... I used to be an engineer

  • Does Moc OSX Lion use more battery than Snow Leopard?

Ever since I have updated my MBP Early 2011 (2.2 Ghz Radeon 6750) to Lion, my battery life has gone down tremendously. I used to be able to get a solid 7 hours in (light workload ei. web browsing) and now I'm only able to get 3.5 hours MAX. I'm currently running 10.7.2 and the problem is still there. I have gone through around 200 cycles so it's not like 1000's of cycles or anything. Is this just me or are other people exeriencing the same problems? I plan on going back to snow leopard soon if there is no fix to this.

I have had my MBP since July 2011, and am at 22 cycles.
You must run soley on battery charge, almost never plugged in.
Are you running your battery very much down (10%-20%) before re-charge , or recharging at about 40%?
Running Lithium-Ion batteries almost dead create a "memory" that can make your MBP unchargeable.

  • Which video resolution uses less battery life?

I got an 80GB iPod about a month ago. All of my videos are converted in 320x240 H.264 resolution. I was thinking of re-converting to 640x480 for better TV output, but what effect will it have with the battery life when it is displayed on the screen? I assume that 320x240 will give better battery life since it has a smaller file size, hence it will not need to fill the cache as often, but maybe Apple rates battery life with 640x480 resolution?
    Thanks in advance!
    Dell Dimension 4100, Dell Dimension 5150   Windows XP   1GB iPod shuffle 1G, 4GB iPod nano 1G, 80GB iPod 5G, Motorola V635

your ipod video is only capable of using the lower resolution and it does not matter or use more or less battery life. When you are playing on the tv, your screen is off and it will use the same bat life no matter what the resolution

If your MBP is only going to be used for playing games, sell it and get a game console.
If it's always going to be used in one place, sell it and get an iMac, which will be much more economical.
What you run on your MBP has nothing to do with how long its battery lasts overall (before needing to be replaced); that's determined by how much you use the battery. What you run while drawing power from the battery has everything to do with how long it runs on a charge. 3D action gaming is the most power-hungry use you can make of a computer, and your battery life on a charge will be minimal if you use battery power for gaming. So use AC power when you're gaming, and if you have any use for a computer at other times, run it on battery power then. If gaming is all you do, you don't need a computer at all, let alone a notebook computer.

  • IPhone 4S' iOS6 uses more battery juice or something else?

    Hello.
My client's couple years old iPhone 4S (Verizon carrier)'s battery life has been less with the latest iOS 6.x version than iOS 5.x (upgraded iOS a few weeks ago). I re(called/member) that people had this problem when iOS 6 first came out. Is this problem/issue still not fixed as of today? Or is it just a coincident that its battery is old and probably needs to be replaced?
    Thank you in advance.

    Hello.
Within the last hour, I took a lot of photo(graph)s (a couple of panoramas) of the local outdoors with no flashes and with HDR to experiment. I also did some managements to delete bad shots and used its MMS a few times. The old iPhone had about 100% of battery power, and now it is 43% after taking about 50 shots!
The camera DOES use a lot of power, and it uses it as long as the camera app is open, not just when you snap a picture. So the battery usage taking pictures is not a good measure of the battery capacity. If you take it to an Apple store they can test the battery.
Ah. What is a good way to test its battery usage without going to an Apple store which is not local?

  • Turn off Wi-Fi, get more battery life

How big of an increase will there be in battery life on the touch if I have the Wi-Fi turned off?
    Prof.

You will probably get some improvement, although if you aren't using it then it probably won't be spectacular.
Saw some posts here saying you can get 7 hours of battery using Safari/WiFi.
I get about 2 hours surfing the Discussions.

  • @Email using up battery life

Had Droid Charge since Aug 2011, no problems until few weeks ago.  My battery life went from charging once a day to needing a charge every 4 hours.  About this same time, @Email would mysteriously lose my password and lock-me out of my corporate account that had been working perfectly since August.  I deleted the corporate account, re-attached the account, changed it from auto-push to poll every 15 minutes, still had battery problems.  Verizon sent me a new phone 1 week ago. Thinking the @Email with my corporate account was the root of my problems, I'm now using K-9 for all of my email - love it with seemingly no problems.  I do need all of my contacts & calendar synced with my corporate account so I synced only my contacts & calendar of my corporate account and NOT any email or any other accounts.  I check the battery use and find that @Email is killing my battery - sitting at the 2nd highest application with 20% of my battery use.  Meanwhile K-9 is sitting at 2nd to last at only 2% of my battery use.  I changed the calendar & contacts on my corporate account to sync once a day, still no change.  How can @Email be using so much of my battery, if it is only syncing contacts & calendar once a day?!?   I've checked with IT at my office, they say it is a device issue. I've bump charged my phone.  I'm running out of ideas.  Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

i've been told that affects the battery life and i like mine bright but if it affects battery i will keep it down..
and does anyone else notice that the new update is glitchy? or is this just me..?

When did you purchase it and how much memory does it have? Does it have volume buttons on the side? Is the black plastic antenna window on the back oval, or is it square and cover the corner of the iPod?
