HT4759 I have a macbook 10.6.8. this morning I went to icloud and it was gone. What the heck?
what the heck happened to my icloud? i have a macbook 10.6.8 and i logged in to read my mail and my icloud was gone! What is going on?
In order to access your email on an iCloud account you need to set Mail up as detailed here:
Entering iCloud email settings manually in Snow Leopard or Leopard
You can also, as said, access it at http://icloud.com.
You presumably had a MobileMe account (since you cannot set iCloud up on an Snow Leopard Mac) so all the above is dependent on your having migrated it to iCloud before August 1st. Did you do this?

Other category on my iphone takes up 10.92 gigs?? I have tried EVERYTHING. I have restored it,downloaded phoneclean andgotten rid of unneeded files, even deleted my mail account. What the heck else can I do??
What about the fontbook not being able to resolve duplicates?
Try deleting the 'com.apple.FontBook.plist' file.
HD/Users/yourhome/Library/Preferences/ com.apple.FontBook.plist
any other fnts that can commonly cause problems besides the few that are mentioned all the time?
These two can cause problems 'Times Phonetic' -- 'Rougue Stencil-Type' but probably checked for them.

My kids were doing homework this morning and I unknowingly placed my MacBook on the table with a glass of orange juice that they proceeded to knock over. It was not much and it was caught right away. Got the keyboard cleaned up and dried (that is where it spilled). It is home right now hopefully drying the rest of the way. Will it be ok?? What else do I need to do? Our nearest Apple store is an hour and a half away. Thanks!! Shawna
Let it dry thoroughly - several days - before you plug it in or even try to power it on.
It will either work alright or it will not. If it does not, you really only have one option - take it in to Apple or an Apple Authorized repair center and have it diagnosed. Apple will give you a repair estimate at no charge, and you can then decide what to do. -
I'm looking at buying a MacBook Pro for uni next year and I'm not sure what type to get. I've heard different things about the retina display and that people only get it to edit photos etc but then people have said that it is quicker and makes the laptop lighter. I'm also unsure of how much storage I will need. If anyone can help that would be great!!
There are two screen displays available - Retina and non-Retina - and there's a world of difference between them. The Retina has non-user replaceable RAM and flash storage (well, the latter without voiding your warranty) and the non-Retina has user replaceable RAM and HD/SSD. And then, of course, there's the difference in the resolution of the screen itself... and a difference between the 13" and 15" screens (available in both 'flavors').
How much storage you need will depend on your needs.
I don't recommend the Retina models at this time - too many issues with tinting (on Samsung displays) and image retention (on LG displays).
So take a look at what the non-Retina machines have to offer - you can customize to your heart's content but remember that you can always upgrade the RAM and the hard drive in the non-Retina machines yourself.
My 2¢...

I have a MacBook Pro 1,2 (2008) running OS 10.6.8 and trying to install boot camp with windows xp and don't have my original disk for drivers. What do I need to do?
Call Applecare and ask them to send you a replacement set. The will charge you a nominal fee for shipping and handling.

I have a MacBook Pro version 10.7.5 Every time I try to open iphoto I get the warning: "To open your library with this version of iPhoto, it first needs to be prepared. You have opened this photo library with a newer version of iPhoto." How do I do this? I recently bought aperature, and it has been since then that I get this warning.
Thank you!No I have not tried those things. I don't even know what that means I suppose I have the newest version of aperature; I just bought it 4 days ago.

Why can't I zoom in on text with my track-pad like I can with other browsers? I have a MacBook Pro. I used to be able to pinch and expand pages but now I can't. I have bad eye-sight and really enjoy and NEED this feature to be able to read most sites.
Hi dwightfontenot-
Some gestures have been removed in Firefox 4 and later.
You can restore the zoom feature by changing the values of the related prefs on the about:config page.
browser.gesture.pinch.in -> cmd_fullZoomReduce
browser.gesture.pinch.in.shift -> cmd_fullZoomReset
browser.gesture.pinch.out -> cmd_fullZoomEnlarge
browser.gesture.pinch.out.shift -> cmd_fullZoomReset
browser.gesture.pinch.latched -> false
To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.
Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
Preferences that have been modified show as bold(user set).
Preferences can be reset to the default or changed via the right-click context menu. -
I have a MacBook My pinch-open-close won't work. I've done everything suggested on the website.
Your home button must be damages somehow. i know that you can use your phone without it using an accessibility feature called assisstive touch. It is a little icon that will always be on your device's display and can function as a home button. This is only a temporary solution. Eventually you should see if you qualify for some kind of replacement.

I have a macbook pro with a 2.16 Ghz Intel core Duo processor. Can I install the iOS 5 software?
iOS 5 is for iDevices, not OS X. Your iDevice would only require 10.5.8 or later. If you have a Mac with a Core Duo processor then you cannot install Lion but you can install Snow Leopard provided you have at least 1 GB of RAM installed.

I just got my MacBook a few days ago and I was tired of the galaxy picture so I changed it to a color since I didn't have photos at that time well now I have photos and whenever I change my background it changes back to the color after I start it up again.
You are still under warranty. Call Apple tech support and let them deal w/it.
You have 14 days to return the computer w/no questions asked. Plus you have 90 days of FREE phone tech support on top of your standard 1 year warranty unless you also purchased AppleCare which gives you an additional 2 years of coverage plus FREE phone support.
Strongly suggest that you take FULL advantage of the above before it runs out. Let Apple deal w/the problems. -
I have a macbook with OS X 10.6.8, 2GB of ram, and enough space to download, but it still says it cannot download the update on this computer. Would anyone know why? Thanks.
Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu, click on More Info, and check the model identifier against the following, which are the earliest Macs of each type that can run Mountain Lion and Mavericks:
iMac7,1
MacBook5,1
MacBookPro3,1
MacBookAir2,1
Macmini3,1
MacPro3,1
Xserve3,1
A computer incapable of running Mountain Lion which has a Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) or better CPU and at least 2GB of RAM can run Lion 10.7, which is available from the online Apple Store.
