HT4759 Is Mail (4.6) unable to access iCloud now?

Using Mail (4.6) on a Macbook Pro (10.6.8), I am unable to use Mail on my old .mac, .me.com, .icloud.com account. What is going on? it used to before and I haven't changed passwords. i can log in suing Safari but web mail is terrible to use.

Roger, thanks for your response.  Yes, I could see my Inbox mail on iCloud.com.  Just could not find it in my mac mail.  Since sending the question to you, I was able to speak with 2 great guys at Apple. My problem was bumped up to a specialist/manager. He was able to walk me through a fix and all the messages in my Inbox were restored.  But, now I see it has had an impact on my iPhone 4 so maybe we aren't done yet.

    In Mavericks Mail I am unable to access the BCC: line for sending a blind carbon copy.  I open my Contacts list, select a person, and when I click on the BCC: box above in the Contacts window, the person is not entered onto a line in the email for receiving a BCC: and the BCC: line does not even appear.  Thoughts from all you experts out there?

    I managed to find the answer to my own question.  As shown in the screenshot below, the header field area on a new message contains a small lined box in the lower left corner of it.  If you click on the lined box, it allows you to customize the Header field, such as adding a BCC: line.

    The first time an iPhone is connected to iTunes that is used to sync with another iPhone or iOS device, you are prompted to transfer the backup for the other iPhone or iOS device or to set up the iPhone as a new iPhone.
    The former does as provided - it transfers the backup for the other iPhone or iOS device to the iPhone replacing all data on the iPhone that is included with the backup being transferred. The latter does nothing allowing you to make your various selections for the iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.
    This is designed to be done right away with a new iPhone.
    If you don't have a backup for the iPhone with iTunes on your computer and don't have an iCloud backup that hasn't been updated since choosing to transfer the backup for your iPod Touch to the iPhone, the data that was on the iPhone is gone.

    I would be helpful to know what those "basic steps" you have already tried are, but lacking that information:
    Settings app > iTunes & App Stores - sign out of your AppleID
    Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.
    Sign back into your AppleID (same location as noted above)

  • I'm using iA Writer on my new iPad. I've opted to store doc's from this app on iCloud. Now I'm unable to access iCloud and retrieve my doc's so I can continue writing. Needless to say this is very frustrating. Is there a solution for this issue?

    Please, need help. I'm using iA Writer. I opted to store doc's on iCloud and now I find I'm not able to access iCloud in order to retrieve said doc's. A solution to this dilemma would be greatly appreciated.

    iA Writer on iDevice: 
    Look at the Storage List, there should be an iCloud entry (along with iPad/iPod/iPhone, and Dropbox).  Choose iCloud to get a list of documents.
    To write a new file:  Be sure to have iCloud chosen in Storage.  Create new doc, write and click on the Storage list.  File is written to iCloud.
    iA Wrtier on Mac: 
    Write file and save locally, then choose: File>iCloud>Move to iCloud.
    To read a file:  File>iCloud>[choose file name]
    I should add that files read by iA Writer must be files created by iA Writer, either on same device/computer or another.

    I may have misunderstood your post.  If my ipad is not connected to the internet, I can still open a file I had saved on iCloud (only this is the "local" copy of it).  When I'm done, it's saved locally but when I turn on wifi and access the file again and then press the Storage List icon, the file is saved to iCloud.  Are you saying that you can't open a local copy when not connected to wifi?

    I cannot access ICloud backup owing to my email account being discontinued as It rejects my attempts to sign in to change it, I have no problem using my new email account to access iTunes etc. any advice would be appreciated.

    Many people change their Apple ID email address when they get a new email provider and this is the typical way in which you have to change the email address for iCloud. The fact that the email address no longer works really shouldn't matter as long as the password matches the old Apple ID email, or at least that was always the way that I understood it to work.
    I don't know what else to tell you other than to contact iCloud support here. Tap on Account and Setup and then start your support request.

  • On my Outlook e-mail I am unable to access my e-mail and there is a section at the top that is not normally there?

    For the past 4 days my msn outlook e-mail does not display correctly and I cannot select any of my e-mails even though I can see them. Also there is a view of (it looks like a preference selection window) at the top that I have not seen before. My e-mail shows up fine on other computers. I have made a screen shot, but do not see a place to upload it here.

    I am unable to see my reply box. the extra area that says "view all" and "arrange by" is covering up half of my outlook menu bar

  • HT4759 How to use mail.app in Leopard to access iCloud mail account

    Mail.app stopped downloading new mail from my MobileMe account. I had transferred it all to iCloud as instructed, but since I had seen no instructions on changing anything in Mail.app (I'm running Leopard), I thought things should still just work.
    I got the new IMAP server name (imap.mail.me.com) from this site, and pasted it into the account information for the MobileMe account in Mail.app, and saved it. The account still could not connect. I checked the settings and found that Mail.app had changed the server back to mail.mac.com. It has done this several times as I've tried to change the server.
    Now what? I'm about ready to look for an XML file to edit.

    Delete the MobileMe account in Mail and follow these setup instructions:
    Entering iCloud email settings manually in Snow Leopard or Leopard
    These include the server settings linked to above but you may find the illustrations helpful: and you should start by deleting the old account, not trying to amend it. This won't affect the emails on the server.

    I got the iOS 5 upgrade on my iPad & iPhone.  I have a MBP that is running Lion (10.7.2), and a MacPro that is still running Snow Leopard (10.6.8).
    I currently use MobileMe to sync my calendars, contacts, and bookmarks.  I can view these in iCal, Address Book, and Safari, respectively.
    If I move my MobileMe account to iCloud, will the iCal, Address Book, and Safari Bookmarks on my Snow Leopard Mac Pro still sync properly, or will I need to upgrade my MacPro to Lion prior to migrating to iCloud?
    I can initiate the move on the MBP, but I don't want to strand the MacPro.

    This is what applies on a Pre-Lion Mac when you upgrade your MobileMe account to iCloud:
    Your email, calendars, contacts and bookmarks, and 'Find my iPhone' will be migrated to iCloud.
    Your iDisk, together with website hosting and Gallery, will continue to work as before until next June.
    Syncing of Dashboard Widgets, Dock Items and Keychains between Macs, and Mail Accounts, Mail Rules, System Preferences, Signatures & Smart Mailboxes between Macs & iOS devices, will cease altogether.
    You will be able to access email, calendar and contacts on the iCloud website at http://icloud.com provided your browser is reasonably up-to-date.
    You will not be able to sync contacts or bookmarks from a pre-Lion Mac.
    You will be able to enter the server settings for email manually in the Mail application and access your email.
    You will not be able to sync your calendars directly.
    Some people have been able to set up calendar syncing by using the method detailed here - this is an unsupported hack and may not be reliable, and may stop working at some future point. BusyCal is an iCal-like calendar application with extra facilities: it can sync with the iCloud Calendar while running on Leopard, Snow Leopard or Lion.
    There appears to be no method of syncing contacts (though Address Book on a Mac can be synced with Google or Yahoo address books - I don't know how reliable this is).

  • Ipad 1 unable to access icloud

    For some unknown reason unable to log in to icloud. When purchasing storage it goes straight to iphone. Cant change id or password on ipad.

    I tried to add more storage to my ipad, and it goes straight to my iphone not the ipad. I have since discovered that the icloud id is different to that on the phone. It appears somewhere along the line the phone id has changed but not the ipad for icloud, hence two different ids and i cant change the ipad one, no matter what I have tried. .

    Numbers documents from iOS need Numbers 3.2 on a Mac to open. And Numbers 3.2 requires Mavericks. If you are using Mavericks you can get Numbers 3.2 from the Mac App Store. It will be free IF you have Numbers 2 (iWork '09) installed. Otherwise you must buy it.
    Your other option is to send the Numbers file as an Excel file via e-mail to yourself to open with an earlier version of Numbers.

    I got that notification a few days ago, but tried a bit later and got through.  With the wind-down of MobileMe and the mass migration to iCloud, I wonder if the servers are choking.
