If you have activated Find my iPad on the device, you can wipe your iPad remotely. To do it, your iPad must be connected to Internet.
To wipe your device, open http://www.icloud.com, log on with your Apple ID and choose Find my iPhone. Then, choose the device and wipe it, so it will be wiped when it's connected to Internet. If you haven't activated Find my iPad, you can't erase your iPad. Note that you won't be able to track your device anymore if you wipe it in Find my iPad

    Try holding down the sleep and home buttons for about 20 seconds. When you see the silver apple it's rebooting and just let it do its thing.

    Hello,
    I would like to know how to attach an additional behavior to the "reset" button in my drag and drop exercise.
    Here is the background:
    In my drag and drop exercise, when the user drops the source on a target of his choice, certain elements appear and certain elements disappear
    This means that depending on where he dropped the sources, certain elements will be visible and certain elements invisible when he is finished the activity
    Because the sources are not re-draggable once he drops them, he will have the option to reset the exercise and start again from the beginning using the reset button
    My challenge:
    I would like exercise to return to its original state when the user selects the rest button .  this means:
    the dragged objects return to their orginal starting location (this is what naturally occurs when you hit the reset button)
    any objects that had disappeared during the course of the activity reappear
    objects that were not visible in the beginning , but had appeared during the course of the activity, again become invisible
    So how can I add this action to the reset button?

    Allowing the user to redrag the souce after it has been dropped would work for my particular problem  if I could bind an action to the event redragging, namely making the elements reappear that had disappeared and the elements disappear that had appeared when the user dropped it the first time.

    There are two methods, a reinstall of OS X only and a erase and install, which will wipe out your data and programs.
    With 10.7 and later operating system versions, you really can't go back to exactly the way OS X was when you first bought it as Apple downloads OS X now and won't give a older copy, only the most recent updated issue in that version.

    Do you mean in the Downloads tab in the iTunes app on the iPad ? If so, then the T&Cs only appear if there are no outstanding downloads available - if you've bought (or if you are in the US re-downloaded) any films on the iPad then they should have downloaded into the Videos app

    Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

    Okay, so what you are describing here is the activation lock and restoring the phone via iTunes as a new device will not help you at all.
    The activation lock requires that you know the Apple id and you need to get the Apple id for the device that you have purchased from the website that you bought it from.
    If you cannot get the Apple id for the phone then you will never be able to use it and you have wasted your money on it, so you either need to get the correct Apple id for the phone or return the phone for a full refund and start again, but this time buy the phone from a legitimate source.
    If you cannot get the Apple id for the phone there is no way around it and you will never be able to use this phone.

    These are related but not identical issues. Their causes are outlined in Intel-based Mac- Startup sequence and error codes, symbols. Solutions may be found in:

    In most cases the problems may be caused by:
    Problem with the computer's PRAM - See Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM.
    Boot drive's directory has been corrupted - Repair with Disk Utility.
    Critical system files are damaged or deleted - Reinstall OS X.
    The disk drive is physically non-functional - Replace the hard drive.
    Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
    Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
    If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    The main difference if you are using Lion or Mountain Lion is that you must first boot from the Recovery HD:

Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.

    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
    If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
    Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.
    Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing The Drive

    Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
    Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

    Please contact the Apple Support folks directly for issues related to hardware and software purchases.
    The particular model of MacBook Pro is a key detail here, as the Mac model will determine the oldest version it can boot, as well as whether it'll boot more current software.
    AFAIK there is and was no Lion installer DVD available.  It was a download.  AFAIK, the last DVDs commonly available were for Snow Leopard 10.6.  Snow Leopard DVDs are still available in the Apple online store in various countries, if your MacBook Pro is old enough to be able to boot that version.
    If your MacBook Pro purchase with Lion wasn't registered with Apple, then you'll have to discuss this directly with the Apple Support folks, or repurchase Lion from the Mac App Store (which will usually involve a call to Apple for a redemption code as it's old software), or you'll "purchase" (it's free) Mavericks OS X 10.9 and wipe and install that assuming your MacBook Pro supports Mavericks.  If you didn't purchase the MacBook Pro from Apple (and it was shipped with an older release), then you'll end up acquiring a redemption code from Apple for Lion, or installing Mavericks.
    For completeness and given you're probably already aware of this, the usual approach for restoration with recent OS X versions is via the recovery boot (more details).  If the disk is wiped and you can't get Lion, then you'll probably end up reinstalling with Target Disk Mode using another Mac with a compatible FireWire or Thunderbolt port and a cable.  Or visit the local Apple Store.
    sputniki: Once OS X 10.7 or 10.9 has been reinstalled, yes, getting Time Machine configured and going is undoubtedly on the agenda.  But had there been a viable backup here, I expect jianghua would have used it.
