HT4759 My device is no longer able to setup an iCloud account. Why?

My device is not able to setup an iCloud account!!!  Why not?

Have you already used it to create iCloud accounts? Any one device can create only three iCloud accounts: this is tied to the hardware (not the user account) and can't be got round. You would have to create a new account on another compliant device, then you would be able to sign into it on the device in question.

This Ipad has been passed down by 2 others, and now person 3 can't set up an Icloud account because "This device is no longer eligible for a free Icloud account". How do I go about this?

If I create one at https://appleid.apple.com/account, would that work when I try to sign in?

Why does Apple kick their old subscribers under the bus? I have an iMac G5 1.9 and 2.1 computer using Leopard 10.5.8 system, and I cannot renew my MobileMe account, why? Is Apple incapable of keeping their old subscriber accounts active and still update their system? Maybe I should look into buying a PC in the future? I eagerly await your reply. Thanks

MobileMe is being terminated in two weeks. If you have files on your iDisk which are not also on your computer you need to be downloading them as soon as possible or you will lose them.
You can migrate to iCloud and set Mail up manually to receive your @me.com mail:
Entering iCloud email settings manually in Snow Leopard or Leopard
You will not be able to sync calendars or contacts. If you want to have general online file storage you will need to find a third-party alternative - this page examines some options:

  • I have not been able to verify my iCloud account as the verification has been sent to a previous email address no longer in use! How do I get iCloud to send verification email to my present email address?

I have not been able to verify my iCloud account as the verification has been sent to a previous now defunct email address!  How do I get iCloud to send the verification email to my present email address?

If the old ID is yours, and if your current ID was created by editing the details of this old ID (rather than being an entirely new ID), go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • Why is Messages no longer showing up under my iCloud account in the "Internet Accounts" window?

Why is Messages no longer showing up under my iCloud account in the "Internet Accounts" window?  I recently deleted it and added it back, but then Messages went away.  On my iPhone, it shows me logged in under my iCloud account and my cell phone number is synced with that iCloud account.  Yet, on my Mac it isn't showing up.
I've already tried removing and adding the iCloud back several times.

The Messages app is supposed to grab the information from the "Internet Accounts." Messages has always included the ability to separately add Google, Yahoo, AOL, or other messages accounts; but, it has always grabbed the iCloud account information from the "Internet Accounts" section. Except for now, when the Messages option has disappeared from the iCloud account under "Internet Accounts."

  • This device isn't eligible for creating a free iCloud account

Hi. My dad bought an used iPhone 4S 16GB yesterday. I tried to setup an iCloud account for him but I got error saying: this device isn't eligible for creating a free icloud account. I want to set it up and can someone help me please? I really need it. Thank you!

I have already created an Apple ID for the iCloud and I'm trying to sign in from the phone in the iCloud menu. It says this device isn't eligible for creating a free icloud account.

  • I am not able to access my icloud account as the apple id it defaults to no longer exists and when i try to use it by resetting the password it says email verification sent but I never receive anything.  It is hung up on verifying and I can not do a thing

The apple id I used to set up my ipad no longer exists and it is the same id for icloud and itunes.  I have changed my apple id but can not access my icloud account to change the id.  I am hung up on "verifying" and have tried everything.  It does not send any emails verification even though it says it has sent it.  I have trie the security questions and it says wrong birthdate but it is not the wrong birthdate.  I can not delete the account without a password and when I enter the password that was originally with that id it says wrong password.  As a result I am not able to update twitter, facebook, etc and basically unable to do anything until I can delete and reestablish this icloud account.

  • HT4759 I'm getting a lot of spam in my icloud account and would like to change my icloud email address, how can I do this?

After having a mac.com email for nearly 10 years I fell for a scam email and now am getting spammed daily in my email account.  I use this email account for everything and would like to either block the spam emails - although that's hard since they change their email address daily - or just get a new icloud email address.  I've researched this and have not found this easy.  Any suggestions on how to change my icloud email account? Keep in mind all my devices are connected through this email including iTunes.  Any help is appreciated - thanks!

To get a new iCloud address you would have to create a new iCloud account and migrate your iCloud data to the new account.  If you want to do this, go to Settings>iCloud and tap Delete Account, and when prompted about what to do with the iCloud data choose Keep on [My iDevice].  Then set up a new iCloud account with a new ID, turn you iCloud data syncing back to On, and when prompted choose Merge to upload your data to the new account.  When you turn Mail to On you will get a new @icloud email address (@mac and @me addresses are no longer available).  Once your data is in the new account, you can just delete the old account from your other devices without saving the data on the device, then sign into the new one and the migrated data in the new account will be synced back to them.
If you need to, you can change your iTunes ID to this new email address.  This guide explains how to change an Apple ID name, but you can follow this and edit the primary email address instead to change it: http://support.apple.com/kb/HE40.

  • I have serval i products and one icloud account, why I'm I pentalized for have my devices on 1 account?

Icound gives you 5GB storage witch is great for one device. However when you link multipol devices to the same account the 5GB is not enough. I feel Icloud want me to set up multipol clouds making management difficult of my products.  Where is the incentive to have more i products if you can not link them unless they exstort $24 from you a year?
If icloud truely supported iproduct than they should base the storage on the number of devices.
Currently no incentive to buy anouther iproduct because I will be forced to start a new icloud account because I have exceeded my storage with the 4 devices I have.
Is thier a work arround other than the $24 / year for loyal apple users???

Photos from iPhone Camera Roll should always be backed up on computer like any other digital camera.
iCloud is not your storage space, only for your backup..

  • HT204053 is there a way to backup about 50 devices (some Iphones, some Ipads) to the same Icloud account

I am the sole IT for a company that is using Iphones, and Ipads for all of our sales people.  what we have had happen in the past is a sales person decides to quit but before he does, he will wipe out all of the info (customer contacts, sales information...) off of the Iphone, and Ipad.  we are wanting to backupall of these devices(40-50 of them) to either the Icloud, or maybe there is another option?  What I was reading is that the Icloud limits the conection to 10 devices.  is there maybe a business icloud, or something like that?  thanks for the info.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
When you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.

  • No longer able to authorize or deauthorize account

Everything was working fine until I did a fresh install. COMPLETE CLEAN install (no residue of that pesky old install!)
Now I cannot Authorize/Deauthorize/Buy or access my account in any way. All I get is a never-ending "Accessing iTunes Store…".
I can browse the store, play unprotected music, etc. But I can't get to all my account info.
As I said above, it is a clean install with no frills added. I can Buy apps on my iPhone, but not on the Mac.
    TIA!

And, furthermore, I get the same non-result from every other computer on the same network, EXCEPT when I use the iPhone on the WiFi that sits on that same network.
Is it possible that my ISP is somehow blocking my connection, or is it more likely that somehow Apple's servers are confused?

  • Mail no longer able to send from any account

Since updating to Mavericks, none of my SMTP accounts will send mail. Messages will 'fly off' the desktop but no 'sent mail' sounds made and no record of sent mail appears in the sent mail or pending box.

Go to Mail > Preferences > General and make sure Default Email Reader is set correctly.

  • My computer is no longer syncing with my icloud account, why?

I am not sure where to check or change setting for my iCloud account on my computer. Anyone have some insight for me?

    Mac OS X (10.6.8)
iCloud is not compatible with Snow Leopard.  So my question to you, is how did you get it to work on 10.6.8?
