If you enabled Find My iPhone on it before it was lost, you may be able to located it using Find My iPhone on icloud.com, as explained here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mmfc0f2442. It must be turned on, have a data connection to the internet and still have Find My iPhone enabled with your iCloud ID in order to be tracked.
If you didn't enable Find My iPhone on it before it was lost, there is no way to track it.

Find My iPhone is good for misplaced iPhone but not good for thief and it was never meant to be.
You chance of getting it back is very small.
There are a few things you can try.
Try remote lock/wipe your iPhone through Find My iPhone.

FaceTime and iMessages have stopped working since i updated to 7.0.3, saying there is a network error and to try again later. Have tried reinstalling Find my iPhone to see if it works. It doesn't for me. The message says "FaceTime (iMessage) Activation: Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again". My network is perfectly alright as I keep buying on the App Store. can u please help out???

If your phone is turned off or not connected to the Internet, you will be unable to locate it. Last known location is only stored for 24 hours.

The most anybody will be able to tell you is that it was somebody who knew (or guessed) the Apple ID and password you use for iCloud, so he/she appeared to *be* you when logged into Find my iPhone. (If you are using Family Sharing, it could be somebody else in your family group or somebody who knew or guessed their iCloud Apple ID and password.)

I lost my iPad mini while traveling recently. I tried using the Find My iPhone App (which showed my iMac, my iPhones, my old iPad, and my macbook) but the mini didn't show up...probably because it was turned off or the battery ran down.
I still have the original receipt from when I purchased it, showing the article number and the serial number. Is there any way to locate it with that info?No, unless you had Find My iPad enabled on it then there isn't any way to try and locate it.
Have you reported it to the police in case somebody hands it in ? You should also change your iTunes account password, your email account passwords, and any passwords that you'd stored on websites/emails/notes etc., and if it was a cellular model also contact your carrier. -

Did you set it up on your iPhone prior to it being lost? If not, then it wont find it. Otherwise it requires the iPhone to be powered on and have an internet connection and location services turned on to be found. If somebody restored it via itunes or the settings menu, then your account info is no longer on the phone and it'll be impossible to use "find my iPhone" to find it.

I went to the mobileme website and it asked me for my apple ID and password. But then when I entered them it told me I needed a mobileme ID. Should I have one just from setting up the app on my iphone?
MobileMe has been closed down - iCloud replaced it. You should have gone through the migration process from MM to iCloud in the past months, it's too late now.
You need to create a new iCloud account (browse to icloud.com with a computer). Then use Settings>iCloud and turn on Find My iPhone for any device you have. That will allow you to track the device if it is lost/stolen. If you have not done that on the lost iphone (and if you have no icloud account), then you can't track it. The Find My iPhone app does not turn on the service, it's only used to find other devices. -

find my iphone is not working me...If find my iphone isnt working for your phone, then apple cant help you. You need to report it to the police.
