HT4783 why can't I find airdrop on my mac book pro?  I upgraded to lion?

I am trying to use airdrop but can't find it anywhere on my computer?
Hardware Overview:
  Model Name:          MacBook Pro
  Model Identifier:          MacBookPro2,2
Processor Name:          Intel Core 2 Duo
  Processor Speed:          2.33 GHz

AirDrop requires a computer newer than your MacBook Pro: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4783
As I understand it the wireless hardware is the limiting factor.
Macs that support AirDrop in OS X Lion
If your Mac is the same as, or newer than, the models listed below, then it supports AirDrop.
MacBook Pro (Late 2008 or newer)*
MacBook Air (Late 2010 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 or newer)*
iMac (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Mini (Mid 2010 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2009 with AirPort Extreme card, or Mid 2010)
* The MacBook Pro (17-Inch Late 2008) and the white MacBook (Late 2008) do not support AirDrop.

  • Why Can't I open spreadsheet on my Mac Book?

Why Can't I open spreadsheet on my Mac Book Pro? I have gone to the App store to download the most current version of Numbers, but am told it is already installed. The version of Numbers on my computer says it is 2.3 (554).  ( in "about Numbers").  If it is already installed why can't I open a spreadsheet created long ago, but used recently without any problems until today. Very Frustrated.  I have Maverick on my 2012

Your Mac is too old.  See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5842 .
Also, a Mac with 2 GB of memory does not run well on Mavericks.

Hi, I am using my icloud on my iphone but am unable to find it on my mac book pro. It's not under my system preferences like it shows under the setup. Can I download it again? Or something. I just need to backup some files on my computer and am unable.

The minimum requirement for iCloud is Lion 10.7.5 (Mavericks preferred): the iCloud Preference Pane does not appear on earlier systems - the MobileMe pane appears on Lion and earlier but is now non-functional - you cannot now open or access a MobileMe account.
To make use of iCloud you will have to upgrade your Mac to Lion or Mavericks, provided it meets the requirements.
    The requirements for Lion are:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space
Lion is available in the Online Apple Store ($19.99). Mountain Lion (10.8.x) is also available there at the same price but there seems little point as the system requirements are the same for Mavericks (10.9.x) - which is free - unless you need to run specific software which will run on Mountain Lion only.
The requirements for Mountain Lion and Mavericks are:
    OS X v10.6.8 or later
    2GB of memory
    8GB of available space
      and the supported models are:
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
It is available from the Mac App Store (in Applications).
You should be aware that PPC programs (such as AppleWorks) will not run on Lion or above; and some other applications may not be compatible - there is a useful compatibility checklist at http://roaringapps.com/apps:table

?  Why does my Photoshop PS2 open on my Mac Book Pro OS 10.6.8 Intel Core 2 Processor but not on my just purchased Mac Book Pro OS 10.7.3? On my new machine I get a message saying "You can't open Photoshop CS2 because Power PC applications are no longer supported". I don't have a Power PC on either machine and this App does run on the older machine with an Intel processor. benrusy

This is not new.  The fact that Mac OS no longer supports PowerPC applications starting with OS X Lion has been known for over a year now.  You'll need to upgrade to the latest version of Photoshop

  • How cane i find a stolling apple mac book pro

how cane i find a stolling apple mac book pro 15"
i just have the serial nubber

Report your stolen computer to local law enforcement. You will need the serial number to make a complete report. Contact your insurance to see if they will pay a claim based on the theft. Also if it was purchased with a credit card, contact them and see if they will cover replacement - some cards do within a certain period.
    Best of luck.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • Can i connect two monitors to my mac book pro with HDMI?

can i connect two monitors to my mac book pro with HDMI?

I retract my previous "No." If you can live with limited performance (slow refresh/choppy action video/no gaming) on the second external monitor, you could use a USB video adapter and a DVI-HDMI adapter to connect it to a USB port on your computer.

Just a note about the system information that appears below your post: iOS 4.3.3 does not run on Macs, only on iPods, iPads and iPhones. When you're posting about your MBP, it would be more useful to those responding to know which version of Mac OS X you're running. Doesn't matter for purposes of this post, but something to remember for future posts.

  • If possible can i show todays date on my mac book pro screen?

if possible can i display todays date on my mac book pro's screen

I use my Date&Time in the MenuBar to show day-of-the-week and time with AM/PM, and flashing time separator as a check against system hangs.
If the Calendar application is showing in the Dock, it will display the number of today's date in its Icon. As far as I can tell, you do not need to have EVER run Calendar to have it automatically update its Icon from the default 17 to the current day-number.

You can download absolutely anything to the MBP, but if you want to run Action VOIP on it, you'll have to install MS Windows to run it in.

Ah the devil is in the details
Adding the shift key to the command places the screen shot in the clipboard as Hiroto pointed out.
To get the file on the Desktop just remove the shift key.

  • How can I retrieve deleted trash on a mac book pro?

How can I retrieve deleted trash on a mac book pro? I inadvertently trashed and then deleted a file from my computer. Is there any way to retrieve it?

Only be using data rescue software - and there's always the chance that the file has already been overwritten.
I've used Data Rescue 3 to succesfully retrieve files that I've trashed. It's an $100 gamble, tough, and there's no assurance that you'll be able to retriebve the file.
