How long should a data migration from a PC to my Mac take?

Depends how much data you have.
And how you transfer it, if you chose wireless (for the convenience) you have chosen the slowest possible method, hours will pass.

There is no answer to that. The time depends on the amount of data and the method used for transfer.

    ps.
Should it takes about 4-5 hours or is this too slow?
    Thanks

I doubt the transfers are at USB . speeds. I think the transfer time the O.P. indicates is in the "reasonable" range.
Assuming an average transfer time of 3 sec/track it would take 200 minutes (or 3 /3 hours) to transfer 4000 tracks. From my own experience a consistent 3 sec/track avg transfer to the Zen is optimistic. If there is any on-the-fly conversion going on it will likely be substantially slower.
[Addendum: I should probably clarify the speeds I mention above are based upon my real-world experience doing "sync" operations from apps like WMP and MediaMonkey to my Zen. Direct file copies to the Zen can be faster but that is a bit moot since most people use syncing. Nothing in my experience approaches anything close to theoretical USB 2.0 transfer speeds, if for no other reason than the cap imposed by the relati've slowness of flash memory write operations compared to read operations.]

  • How long should it take to download an album from the store?

I used to be able to download a whole album in a couple of mins but now it seems to take hours.
I've tried pausing all tracks and downloading them one by one but that doesn't seem to help. I'm using the same internet connection I always have...
Any suggestions would be most appreciated!

vazandrew lists the necessary requirement for  near instant streaming.
The reason is that itunes store content has a fixed size for an individual movie and does not degrade quality by using lower bitrates for slower connections.
HD content usually weighs in at up to 5Mbps from itunes store, so a 6 Mbps connection can keep up with the video stream without stopping/starting.
Any slower and AppleTV has to download part of the movie first - it calculates how much it needs to prebuffer in this way to allow the rest of the movie to load in the background as you watch - the calculation is based on the requirement to play without interruption given a particular sustained connection rate.
For example on my 4 Mbps it may take 40 mins for an HD film to be ready.  SD will play almost immediately.
As AppleTV has limited storage, using other features while waiting for a movie to be ready can inadvertently flush the part already downloaded necessitating it to start from scratch - there is no warning and I believe this is poor design when the connection is slow.
You can alter HD/SD in Settings but it applies to the next rental made.  Oddly you may find more SD content as much available in SD is not yet available in HD.  AppleTV1 was mor sensible and listed all content SD or HD and if a title was available in both you had the option to rent either very simply without changing Settings.  This also explains why some movies cannot be found if you just look for HD because of the setting.

  • How long should it take to transfer aperture library to an external drive 54GB

can any one help with this ?

Do the math. Look at the transfer rate of your connection and drive then divide that into 54GB. And the transfer rate provided by your device manufacturer is likely the theoretical rate so reduce your result somewhat.

  • How long should it take to download this app.

I have been attempting to download OS X Mavericks. So far it indicates that it has been downlloading for approximately two hours. On the dock where the Mavericks logo is sitting the bar under the Mavericks symbos has a tiny dot at one end. Usually when downloading a new app. one can watch the download in a bar similare to this. This "dot" has not moved in the last two hours. I believe I should stop and try again another time. Something has gone wrong. I checked all the specs. and my MacBookPro is approved for this download. I'll let it go a while longer, but I don't believe the app is actually downloading even though in the App Store it says that it is.
    Thanks

Here are the specs for Mavericks:

Depending on your internet connection, it may take a while. Mine usually takes at least 2.5 - 3 hours, but I've heard of people with a slow DSL connection that it can take several hours/overnight. And, the servers may be overloaded, so it'll be slow coming down the pipe.

  • How long should it take for Leopard to resume from sleep?

I recently performed a clean install of Leopard, but noticed it takes up to 30 seconds to resume from sleep. Is this normal?
Tiger would resume in several seconds (time for drives to spin up, etc), although network connectivity would lag.
I tried a suggestion from another thread regarding com.apple.PowerManagement.plist, and when I manually put the computer to sleep, wait a few minutes, then click the mouse to resume, it took less than 5 seconds.
When the computer sleeps by it self, it seems to take longer to resume. Much longer...
Wondering if anyone has any suggestions.

How many drives? using RAID will also take longer I think.
Does Leo save memory to disk? there is sleep, and then there is hibernation mode.
Could vary by disk brand (size, etc)

  • How long does it take to transfer data from a PC to a Mac?

Using Migration Assistant and I am transferring data from PC to IMac. Have no idea how ling this process should take. How long does it take to transfer data from a PC to a Mac?

This may not be the best forum to get an answer.
Depending on what is being/can be migrated it may be dependent on how much data is on the PC already.

  • How long should it take a well-qualified server admin to migrate from Tiger to Lion...

How long should it take a well-qualified server admin to migrate from Tiger to Lion...
For a small company, if the Tiger server is running on a G4 Tower:
    -Roughly 500GB in user files
-Data resides on old-school ATA drives
    -OD Master - Kerberized
    -AFP
    -Mobile Homes
    -DHCP
    -DNS (for 2 domains)
    -FTP
    -iChat
    -Mail (non SSL)
    -NetBoot
    -Print Server
    -SWUPD
    -VPN
    -Hosting website using MySQL
    -User & Computer Management
    Considerations/Hurdles/Challenges:
-Tossing old G4 into garbage, upgrading Mini client to Snow Leopard, adding Lion iMac client to the LAN
-Fresh OS installs on the Mini and iMac
-Upgrading from CAT5 to CATE on the LAN (not it the walls - just loose cables)
-All new hardware must be sourced out (take some time to price compare)
-Must find a way to transfer data from ATA drives to SATA drives or Lion Server
-Company must not have any email downtime (MX Records to be modified on DNS Providers site)
-Servers hostname goes from "companyserver.company.com" to "server.company.com"
    -ISP blocks some SMTP ports
-DNS Provider doesn't support TSL/SSL SMTP
-Implementing a switch into the network
-Implementing a new router (for firewall and NAT) from ISP
    Upgrading to Lion Mini Server
    -All the same services
    -Using SSL
-Implementing Mobile Device Enrolment and Deployment
That should just about cover it. I'll add any other details/hurdles as they come to mind.
Can you guys give me your best guesstimate as to how many hours you think this job should take? I'd appreciate any feedback as to how long you guys think it'd take you to make this transition. I'm trying to plan, and we're going to be down-and-out, the boss NEEDS to know for how long.!
    Thanks in advance guys!

It's about a gigabyte, so if you have a slow connection, it might take some time.
But - you shouldn't be getting the beach ball - that's a different thing.
Can you do open Activity Monitor, or is it stuck completely?

How long should it take for an icloud backup of about 6.4GB?  I selected a manual backup and it has been running all night?  Thanks

That's going to depend alot on your internet connection speed. 6.4 GB is alot of data, especially if your connection speed is slow (DSL) or low-end cable speeds of ~1.5 Mbps.

The answer depends on the amount of data to be restored, the speed of your Internet connection, and wireless network conditions. It could take the better part of a day.

  • How long should it take to download Mountain Lion?

How long should it take to download and install Mountain Lion?  I have been downloading it for about 5 hours and it still has 1 gig to go.  My current OS X is 10.7.4

It depends on what bottlenecks you have interposed.
If you have a fast Ethernet connection, not cable Internet, that is not throttled by your ISP, and are using fast Ethernet on your local network, you should be able to download in about an hour.
If you are transmitting it over your wireless connection, it may take substantially longer.

  • HT4718 am trying to install OS X Lion for the first time. So far it has been downloading for about 2 hours. How long should it take?

    Can anyone help please?
Lion download to iMac has been running for about 2 hours and is still not halfway yet. How long should it take? should I cancel and start again?

1500Kbs is 1.5Mbs. That is Kilo bits per second. There are 8 bits to a byte so if you divide 1500 (or 1,500,000) by 8 you get 187500 bytes a second. Divide 3.5GBs (3,500,000,000), that capitol B is for Bytes, by that 187500 you get 18666.666 seconds. Which needs to be divided by 60 to get the minutes and then again by 60 to get the hours.
    5.1851xxx hours.
I use to have a 3Mbs DSL connection and it took me over 3 hours to download Lion. Now that I have a 19Mbs Cable connection it take about an hour to download and install.
So wait it will happen eventually. If you cancel and start again your are still going to wait 5+ hours.

  • Ripping DVD's - How long should it take?

How long should it take to rip a whole DVD? PQDVD seems the easiest, but it rips at 1x speed (or close to it). Are there programs out there that do it faster? Are there programs that are cheaper? $35 is a lot of money.

I use DVD Decryptor (free) to rip the VCD files from the DVD.
I then use Videora for iPod to encode them to MP4.
Time for DVD Decrypt is about 15 minutes for a 2 hour movie.
Time for Videora is about an hour and a half for a 2 hour movie (give or take a half hour).
DVD Decryptor needs to be set to Not split the files based on size, and there is another tab that asks if you want to split the VCD files at all. Both set to none, find in the options screen.
    Good luck!
