HT4796 my PC isn't recognizing the mac

I'm setting up my Mac for the first time and trying to transfer everything from my old PC. The mac is recognizing the PC, but the PC is not recognizing the Mac. There is a password on the mac that I have to match to the PC, but the PC isn't recognizing the Mac.

I have a MacBook Pro 15 inch early 2011.
The new features available in OS X Yosemite like Continuity, Handoff,etc are not supported in this model.
I did upgrade RAM to avoid any possible slowdown.
I found replacing the HD with SSD is too expensive for a 4 years old model.
Replacing the CPU/GPU is not for amateurs.
If you think that rebuilding a Mac part by part is a viable option, please go ahead and rebuild it.

New iPhone 6 Plus crashed during ios 8.1 update and iTunes isn't recognizing the device

I deleted a bunch of pictures and music on my phone to have enough storage space to back up my phone. I decided to update my phone first (ios 8.1) and it seemed to be going smoothly. It's hard to remember exactly what happened but when it was almost complete, something went wrong and it indicated that it hadn't installed correctly. It said I needed to clear more storage space in order to complete the installation so I restarted the phone. When it turned back on, I attempted to install the update again (the storage wasn't an issue) and it immediately went into "verifying install" mode before shutting off. Now I only have the screen that indicates I need to plug it into iTunes but the device isn't recognized when I plug it in. Powering it down, holding down different buttons, etc. doesn't work! Help!

Not really a reply just some added info:
This is the error message I get saying the internet is not on, but clearly as I can send this message it has to be:
To open “Java Preferences,” you need to install a Java runtime, but you are not connected to the Internet.
I am connected through Wi-fi if that makes a difference.

Macbook pro 2012 isn't recognizing the built in audio output

It is only recognizing the headphones jack, even when it is unplugged, there are no red lights and when I unplug the phones it is just like they were plugged, I ow this because it doesn't change the volume like it was suposed to do if it was recognizing the built-in output

First, try plugging and unplugging the headphones again, and check that "Internal Speakers" appears in System Preferences > Sound > Output.
If it doesn't work, reset the PRAM > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379 This will reset the speakers settings, so it will work properly when you start in OS X. If not, open System Preferences > Sound > Output, and choose "Internal Speakers"

Usb audio interface isn't recognized by mac os 10.4.11 after reconnecting

Hi,
I use the native instruments audio 8 dj interface (1.2.0.020, driver 2.3.5, FW 23) with my macbook pro (mac os 10.4.11).
The audio 8 dj is only recognized by it's control panel when it's connected to the notebook via usb before the notebook is started.
When the notebook is already up and running and you connect the audio 8 dj it's not recognized by the notebook.
Also when you disconnect and reconnect the usb cable while the notebook is running the audio 8 dj is not recognized any more, although in all cases the usb led of the audio 8 dj is steady green.
Does anybody know which could be the reason for this problem?

I'm having the same problem on my new MacBook Pro 13", but in my case the issue is with a Sennheiser USB adapter (modelno UUSB2) that I use for my headset.
It's very annoying having to reboot each time I would disconnect and reconnect the device!
The Sennheiser adapter works fine on my older MacBook Pro 15", so it's not an hardware issue with the adapter itself. I've tried resetting the SMC and PRAM to no avail. Sennheiser does not provide any drivers, so it's not a third party driver-issue either. I've tried clean re-install of the OS as well without any luck.
The log-messages from Console.app start notifying me about this when I try to re-connect the device:

Thanks for the help...iPhoto 11 on my Pro isn't recognizing the .nef file extension. Advice?

I'm importing photos from a Nikon d5200 in RAW format and iPhoto says it doesn't recognize that file extension (.nef). The movie files came off just fine. And when the initial window comes up in iPhoto asking if I want to import all photos or just the selected ones, I can see all the RAW file images as usual. They just won't import.

What version of iPhoto? Has this Nikon RAW ever worked with your Mac and this version of iPhoto?

IMovie 6 isn't recognizing the camcorder

I have tried it with two different cameras now and two different fire wires and each time the iMovie screen says "no camera connected". I took the camcorder to my office and it is working fine with iMovie 9. any ideas as to what is going on?

If nothing there helps, post back whether you are using same camcorder(s) and cables with iMovie 9 as with iMovie HD 6.

Yes - unfortunately, 10.6 is not an update - you will need to buy it either at the Apple store online or other online resellers - Snow Leopard (10.6) retail disk is $29.

Facebook isn't recognizing the photos in iPhoto.

I haven't been able to upload anything since I updated my computer to Mountain Lion a few months back. I can open and view my pictures just fine, but when I go to upload the photos to a new album, my computer will just sit there and think... and think.... and think until I get so frustrated and just walk away. It never opens and "sees" all my photos.
Anyone else had this issue? Is it from the recent update? Thanks!

The word 'servient' isn't in the Mac dictionary

OS X keeps autocorrecting 'servient' to 'servent'. If I highlight, right click and select 'Look Up...' it can't find the word. Is there a way to add it to Lion's dictionary?

Likely because it is obsolete except in Law. You should just be able to right-click on it and choose "Learn Spelling" to add it to the spell check dictionary.
If you want it to actually look up the definition, I don't know how to fix that.

Sounds to me like the file is probably corrupt. If you had hard drive corruption or damage, that could easily result in recovered files not being fully intact. If you were trying to recover accidentally deleted files, it's possible they might have been partially overwritten before recovering. There are never any guarantees with file recovery.
Without more information on the circumstances that led you to try recovery, it's hard to give advice on what to try from here. You could always try another file recovery tool, like Data Rescue 3. Just be sure you're taking appropriate precautions when doing recovery. See Recovering deleted files.
