HT4847 Can't delete from iCloud!

I don't seem to be able to delete documents from iCloud.  Tried it on 2 different devices (Mac Mini and iPhone), press Delete, or Delete all and everything seems to be deleted, check again in 5 minutes and everythign is still there.

What kind of documents are you trying to delete.
If Pages documents:  On iPhone, invoke Pages, on the Documents page, tap Edit.  Then tap a doc icon and press the trash can.  If you next check the mac mini, look in Pages.  The deleted file probably still appears, but that is the local copy of the file.  Right click it and get a menu that includes Delete File.  Choosing that will bring up the warning that if you delete the doc it will be deleted from icloud and all other devices.  If you have a second device, like an ipad and watch it's Pages document page, you should see the file icon gone (in my test, I saw the icon, but it disappeared shortly after).
I think the bottom line is that using a device, the file will be deleted from icloud, but on a mac, the file still comes up, but it's the local copy of it.  (The mac keeps a local copy, that's why you can open such a file even when the mac is not connected to the internet.)
Another way to delete a file in icloud:
Try logging into icloud.com with a browser and delete files from the iWork page.

  • When I try to delete from itunes, I can only delete from icloud but nothing goes in my trash

I get a message telling me that the item will be 'hidden from your iTunes in the cloud purchases' and asking me if I want to cancel or delete the item.  When I click on 'delete the item' it disappears, but doesn't go into my trash.  Can somebody please tell me in nice baby steps how to get rid of things I will never watch again?  Thanks

iTunes only offers that option if the files in question is inside the designated iTunes Media folder. (Check setting under Edit > Preferences > Advanced.)
I recently wrote a script called KillSelectedFiles which will remove the entry from the library and delete the file regardless of location.

You can't delete an account, you can only stop using it.  If you're getting that error message you won't be able to create a new account on your device.  Your only options are to re-use one of the accounts previously created, or create a new account on a different iOS device or Mac (running OS X Lion or higher), if you have one.

How can I delete my icloud account from my iphone 4, since it doesn't sync with my ipad mini?

Go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address (you shouldn't need to verify the old account).  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

You cannot delete the iCloud account that is signed on to Find My iPhone unless you know the password. This is called the Activation Lock:
    ACTIVATION LOCK
It is an anti-theft security measure that is a part of iOS 7. You can only get around this by following the steps in this support article:
Find My iPhone Activation Lock: Removing a device from a previous owner’s account
Contact your friend. This is the only way around the lock.
    Best of luck,

  • How can i delete an icloud account from my iphone

How can I delete my icloud account from my iphone. I have two icloud accounts the old one just can not retrieve the pwd to access it

If the old ID is your ID, and if your second ID was created by editing the details of this old ID (rather than being an entirely new ID), go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • PROBLEM! 1st I synced my iphone to Mac, then deleted photos to make some space, I think I deleted everything from icloud too! Please tell me there is a genius there who can fix this! is there a way to retrieve the photos even after deleted from icloud.

Hi, I know this is stupid, but without going into the how, I deleted important photos and actually backed up my icloud, so I think they are gone completely! I am furious with my self, is there anyway to retrieve this data from some space even if I have to be charged by apple ... just being hopeful...

Photo stream photos are not backed up, and when you delete them from one device, they are also deleted from iCloud and your other devices.  If they were in your camera roll when you last back up you device, restoring the backup should recover them.  Otherwise, they are, unfortunately, gone.
Also, photo stream photos don't use any of your iCloud storage so deleting them won't free any storage up in your account.
You can't really use iCloud to back up your photos.  It's designed to stream them to your devices and share with others, not to back them up.  In fact, photo stream photos only remain in iCloud for 30 days.  In order to back up your photos, import them to your computer while they are still in your camera roll, as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.  Or, if you have a Mac that is signed into your account with photo stream enabled, and you are using iPhoto '11 9.2.2 or later, go to iPhoto>Preferences>iCloud and check Automatic Import.  This will ensure that your photo stream photos are automatically imported to your iPhoto library where they will be safe (especially if you are using Time Machine to back up your Mac).

how can i delete an icloud accout from iphone 5 (ios 7.0.4)and insert a new one ???

You'll need to contact the previous owner to get them to remove the account.
There is no way to bypass this security feature. If you can't contact the previous owner you have wasted your money and have a phone you'll never be able to use.

  • I can't delete my icloud account from my ipad.

I can't delete my icloud account from my ipad. It keeps saying "Cannot delete icloud account" "there was a problem deregister isn't this ipad with icloud. Try deleting your account again." I've updated to the latest software update and done a network reset on my ipad. But nothing seems to work. Also my ipad doesn't  allow me to update any applications. i think there might be something wrong with my account.

    Hello Cheryl,
If you are stuck trying to remove your iCloud account, then try restoring your iPad. Start with turning off Find My iPad and then use iTunes to restore it. Check out the article below for the steps on how to do that.

  • Can I get my contacts back if they are deleted from ICloud?

Can I get my contacts back if they are deleted from ICloud?

If your contacts is gone from iCloud.com there is only a few ways to possibly recover it.
The first things I would check is a iCloud Backup, a iTunes Backup, or a 3rd party email that may have contained the contacts. To restore from a iCloud or iTunes backup follow this link. This article explains how to restore a device from either back up.
Note if you have backed up since the contacts went missing, you will not have the contacts on the backup. Make sure you do not back up if trying to restore from a back up as this will back up the content without the contacts.
To get to the "Set up assistant" on an iOS device, you must go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content and Settings. Once the phone restarts, you will be at the "Set up Assistant"
Gmail emails are very commmon sources for contacts and you may have been adding them to the gmail contacts without even knowing it.

  • My emails do not go - they exit outbox and go to recovered. How can I delete my Icloud account and just use gmail.

My emails go from outbox into I cloud recovered section. I have gmail too. how can I delete my icloud account and just use gmail? Speed test on wifi good.
    Any ideas please.
