You can take screenshots of the parts of the conversations you want to save and keep the photos, or you can use 3rd party software such as PhoneView (Mac only) or Touch Copy (PC or Mac) to save the entire conversations to your computer.

One option is to turn on iCloud Photo Library on the phone and go to Settings > iCloud > Photos and turn on "Optimize iPhone Storage." Then you don't delete the photo from the phone but it does occupy significantly less space. More information in iCloud Photo Library FAQ - Apple Support

Use something such as OmniDiskSweeper (my favorite) or Grand Perspective to find out where large files may be. iCloud isn't going to help much if you've so much data that it won't fit on a 1TB drive. Sounds as if it's time to either buy another drive or at least an external with more space.

Albums are not places to store photos, they're more like "labels" you can apply to photos to better organize them. A single image file can be in multiple albums... they are not copies, it's simply been labelled as being in all those albums. So what you're trying to do doesn't make sense, because it's based on incorrect assumptions.
The iPhoto library will always show all photos that you have added to iPhoto.

Thanx for the link...here's my problem. I built my windows pc and installed 2 hard drives...but the larger one isn't accessible right now...not sure why...but the solid state little one is full. This is a problem I need one of my kid's to help me address. I have a lot of photos 'cause my husbands into photography, we travel a lot, and somehow thousands of photos he took, plus ones I took, plus videos I took, ended up on my iPhone...and they are different in a lot of cases from the photos on the iPad that we share. I know I have 2 address this someday, bu don't have time right now...and I can't take any new photos or videos...or even add an app for that matter, until I free up some space on my iPhone. We've already taken two brief trips where I wanted to use my camera and couldn't...and I was looking for a quick way to address my picture taking ability...because we are leaving for another trip in a week, and another one right after that. This is probably way more info than you need...but there are probably duplicates...but until I go thru them I won't know. I could be wrong, but I thought when I backed up my photos to iCloud that all the photos in the photo app were backed up. Maybe I'm wrong and it's only those in the Photo Stream...in which case I should do something about that as well, 'cause I've upgraded our storage plan twice now...and it is getting pretty expensive...and I don't even know how to use it other than to do a complete restore when you get a new device which I just did recently because my son wanted our old iPad for a graduation present, and I kind of wanted the better camera on the new iPad, so I got one...and it took a week to retrieve everything from the cloud on our wi-fi! First of all, you should always save you photos on computer like any other digital camera.
Backup on iCloud or iTunes only backup your Camera Roll. The other photos should be already on the computer.
Note: Photos are not saved in iTunes, it's only a conduit between your iPhone and your photo managing software on computer.

How can I save text messages to my Mac and will that reduce "Other" in storage?

I have hundreds (or more) of text messages on my iPhone 5 that for personal reasons, I want to save. There are far too many to do screenshots. I want to save them to my MacBook Pro Retina in a readable and printable format. The reason is that I read that text messages can cause the "Other" storage to be higher. My "Other" is over 6 GB on a 16 GB iphone. Therefore I want to save texts, print them, and delete from phone.
First question: Is it true that text messages contribute to the size of "Other"?
Second question: How can I save texts to Mac in readable format so they could be printed?
Third question: How in the world do I delete all these texts from my iPhone efficiently? Is there a way to "mass delete"?
When you are answering this, perhaps it is noteworthy that:
(a) I've had an iPhone since a 3G in 2009, and the texts I want to save have been accumulating since then.
(b) My "Other" has gradually gotten larger over the years.
(c) I sync with itunes regularly.
(d) I've never had any problems with an iphone or with my data.
(e) I've restored from backup only three times, when I upgraded to the iphone 4, 4S, and 5.
I want to get this "Other" cleared up before I upgrade to the iphone 5S.

You can select to export a folder to save as a .mbox file. This file would need to be imported if you wanted to view the messages.
Select mailbox (folder)
Under Mailbox in the Menu bar select Export Mailbox...

How can I store movies in the cloud and access them from my devices?

I would like to store movies in the cloud and access them from my device without having to download them to the device because there is not enough space on the harddrive to store them on it. How would I do this? Would I have to download the movies to my PC or could I store them directly in the cloud?

Unfortunately I don't use sugarsync myself, I have a dropbox account and it works slightly differently.
As I understand it you can upload files to a folder in sugarsync from your computer without having them sync to any of your devices. You can access that folder from any of your devices, and although you would need to download them in order to play the video file, you could then delete them without deleting the files in the sugarsync folder in the cloud.

Did you import them into an Event Folder? Or are they still just showin up under the iPhoto Videos folder? Anything inside of the iPhoto Videos folder cannot be deleted, because it is under the full control and jurisdiction of iPhoto and is merely 'shared' from iPhoto and made visible to iMovie. Everything else can first be deleted, then moved to the Trash. To find the items that have been marked for deletion under iMovie '11 go to the pull-down tab at the bottom of the iMovie window frame labeled Show: and choose 'Rejected Only'. Then when you see all the clips with red stripes on them Select All (⌘ Command key + a). Then click on the button labeled Move rejected to Trash.

How can I save mail messages to my computer and not my mail program

My mail program seems to be slow. I'm not sure why. I get the spinning ball frequently. I need to save mail messages sometimes for a few years and there are hundreds of emails. Is it better to save them on my computer than my mail program? I may need to retrieve them at some other time so they need to be readable. Is that possible?
I'm using OS X 10.9.4. I have a 3.06 GHz processor and 12 GB of memory. Thanks
