HT4847 How do I stop my e mail from being backed up by icloud

I have a bunch of junk e mail that is clogging my iCloud storage.  I do not need my e mail backed up, it's on Yahoo already.  I keep trying to shut if off, but nothing seems to work.  I really don't want to spend the time to delete 10,000 e mails if I don't have to.

Hello Showinufftuff,
You may want to delete any existing iCloud backups, then configure iCloud backup to omit Email before it makes a backup.
iCloud: Managing your iCloud storage
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4847
Deleting backups and turning off Backup for your device
iOS device
Tap Settings, and then tap the iCloud icon.
Tap Storage & Backup.
Tap Manage Storage.
Tap your iOS device in the Backups area.
Tap Delete Backup.
You will be asked to confirm this change. Deleting this backup will also turn off Backup of your iOS device. Choose Delete if you want to turn off Backup and remove all backups for this iOS device from iCloud.
Selecting which applications to back up
Many applications automatically back up to iCloud once you have installed them. To change which applications back up to iCloud, and remove existing backups of that application's data from your storage, follow the instructions below:
iOS device
Tap Settings, and then tap the iCloud icon.
Tap Storage & Backup.
Tap Manage Storage.
Tap your iOS device in the Backups area.
Under Backup Options, tap to turn off any items that you no longer wish to back up.
You will be asked to confirm this change. Choose Turn Off & Delete if you want to turn off Backup for this application and remove all data for that backup from iCloud.
Cheers,
Allen

How can I stop music and movies from being automatically deleted from my phone and saved on the cloud? I've just tried to watch a movie on my 2 hour commute, but yet AGAIN it has been removed. I do NOT want to spank all of my data allowance downloading it again, especially because (believe it or not) I added it to my phone because that's precisely where I wanted it!! Any help much appreciated

FYI I had to put this link into firefox to reply - because **** back safari just wouldn't register my clicks to any of the links on the post... Despite reloadeing and even restarting my computer. Totally annoying and a massive pain in the ***.
But in terms of my initial query; thanks for responding. But no, this is NOT the cause of the problem. I have auto sync and sync over wifi activated, but have also selected manually manage music and videos. Plus, all of my music and videos are on my macbook, absolutely all of it, so if it my phone was syncing with my macbook everything would still be on the phone. Life would be peachy if my phone jsut copied everything that was on my macbook, but unfortuantely it keeps deleting tracks for no apparent reason.
Any thoughts greatly welcomed, because at the moment i can only conclude that my iphone is crap.

  • Can anybody tell me how I can stop already deleted mail from resending please?

Hiya, can anybody tell me how I can stop already deleted emails from er sending to my inbox please?

Your PC is not a phone. It can not send an SMS message. There are 3rd party services you can send them through such as Google Voice.

  • How do you stop an email from continually being recovered that has completely stopped any new mail from being received?

In trying to send an oversized video via email (exceeded 25 MG) size limit, I got an error message. I thought I deleted the email. However, whenever email is open, the message continually gets recovered, blocking any email from being recieved. I am able to create and send emails. Internet checks out ok. Using AOL.iMap. It seems that I am not able to interrupt the continual attempts to send the original email.

To those who have viewed my question, thank you. I found the solution under "Mail sending and recovering emai!" I went to Email Preferences, Advanced, and selected "Dont't keep copies of any messages" on the pull down of Keep copies of messages for offline viewing:, saved changes and problem solved. Thanks,

  • How do i stop my ipod touch from reverting back to the default music player everytime i get back in my car?

The only place I use my Ipod Touch is in my car that has an iPod connection and the steering wheel controls, but I mostly listen to audio books with the audible app. Everytime I get in my car instead of the iPod just picking up where it left off with the audible app it picks up playing whatever was last listened to with the default music player. How can I stop this? Although sometimes it will pick up with the audible app where it stopped when I last used the car (the time I spend with it not playing in the car doesn't seem to make a difference.). Just a little side question is there anyway to get rid of the newstand app, safari, messaging, facetime, gamecenter and all those other app that apple forces upon it's users?

There is nothing yo can do to return to the app you want.
You can't delete the apps that came with the iPod. Except for NewsbStand, you can put the apps you do not want into one folder and move it to the last screen

  • How Can I Stop My Music Folder From Being Created...

I have installed and successfully migrated my iTunes to a NAS...the problem is that everytime I start iTunes it recreates the My Music folder on my local hard drive...as (a) I no longer need or want this folder and (b) I find it both annoying and potentially confusing that ut appears, is there any way to stop it from being recreated time after time...
    Thanks so much...

Must be missing something in description. My Music folder is from Windows not iTunes. iTunes places its content in iTunes folder inside My Music folder. As for not using the folder I don't think you can. The iTunes library file(itl, xml) are put into iTunes folder inside My Music folder.

  • How do I stop Mountain Lion Mail from downloading emails?

I create html newsletter emails for a church organization using a combination of Dreamweaver, Safari and Apple Mail.  Since I moved to Mountain Lion, however, I have an Apple Mail problem.
Our organization uses an AOL email address.  Under Lion and previous OS's, I was able to create the organization's account in Apple Mail, unclick "Include when automatically checking for new messages" in Mail Preferences, click "Enable this account" in Mail Preferences, and be able to send the finished email without routinely downloading all the emails from the organization's AOL inbox.  Although I've followed this same procedure in Mountain Lion Mail, the app still insists on downloading their emails!!  Is there any other switch to shut it off?
Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks. Unfortunately, I have several email accounts in Mail.  'Sorry, I didn't indicate this before.  Prior to Mountain Lion, I was able to set Mail to automatically download email for all accounts except the organization's. Although the "Include when automatically..." checkbox in the organization's specific account preferences seems to provide this control in ML ... it doesn't

  • How do I stop my search engine from being "hijacked"? I can no longer get direct access to websites.

When I open my Mozilla Start Page, I type in a name or website I am searching and Google provides the usual list of websites. When I click on the website I want it won't open. Instead I keep getting redirected instead of going directly to the website. How I can I stop this from happening?

I would normally wonder if this was a malware problem, but apparently a day or so ago there may have been dns problems relating to google.
Have a look at the thread [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/773501 Search bar causes browser to be hijacked]
    That gives suggestion for
    * re-seting the search bar
    * sorting out malware
    * and if necessary considering changing DNS

  • HT4191 how can I stop my iphone Notes from being moved into a folder in my yahoo email account?

My iPhone 4 keeps losing my notes?  I learned thru this forum they get moved into a folder in my email account.  Why is this happening?  It is not where I want them.  Is there a limit to how many notes you have?  I only had about 10 different 1-page notes.

    Hello,
I had this same issue but then I figured out how to fix it. You can use the following steps:
Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Press your Yahoo! e-mail > Notes: Off
    I hope this helps!
    Regards,

  • How do I stop deleted email messages from being removed?

I have an iMac running OS X Yosemite Version 10.10.2 and an iPhone 5.  I get my email from hotmail using IMAP protocol.  When I delete an email, I want it to stay in the "deleted" folder forever or until I decided to manually remove it.  However, for some reason they only stay in the deleted folder for a week.
My mailbox behavior preference is set to NEVER permanently erase deleted messages.  Why do the deleted message only stay for a week and how can I change this to keep them permanently?

Actually this helped on the phone but the emails on my iMac are still only staying around for one week.  In prferences, it is checked to NEVER removed deleted messages from trash.  What else can be wrong???

  • How do I stop my router DNS from being changed?

    Hi all,
I did a search on this but none of the discussions really matched my problem.
Anyway, a few weeks ago I had problems with an Android device that refused to take app updates. I rebuilt the thing several times to no effect. At that point I gave up, and tried to google the problem to see if anyone could help. Then I discovered that I couldn't connect to google.
It turned out that some evildoer has somehow managed to change the DNS in the DHCP section of my router (or Mac Network settings?).
I quickly logged into my router (which already had a custom password), and changed the DNS servers back to the Google public ones.
I also changed the router admin password to a new, longer one.
Today I discovered that the DNS has been changed back again to  162.248.99.162  which is presumably the bad guys' server.
I thought I'd dealt with this by resetting and changing back to Google and choosing a new password.
So now I'm wondering if there's something on the Mac that is allowing some third party to change my DNS settings. I have ClamXAV but that's the only security software I use. I don't know how to find out if there is some DNS changing malware on my Mac, or to what extent my security has been compromised. Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks MadMacs.
You need to make sure that you have disabled the ability to reconfigure your router from the WAN (Internet) side.
I am not sure how I do that. Where might I find that setting and what would it be called, typically?
Also check to see if your router is one of many that require new firmware to overcome known vulnerabilities that allow WAN access without a password.
My router is some ancient Huawei jobby that my old ISP gave me. I tried searching for firmware updates but the model number is not even listed, which is either because it's so old it's no longer supported or because it was a model only supplied to ISPs for their customers. Maybe I just need to get fibre broadband and a new router.

  • How do you stop updates in PS from being suppressed?

I'm getting an error message from AAM when I attempt to update PS. It states that Updates
could not be installed because updates have been suppressed by the Admin... well... I am the
admin and I haven't suppressed updates... got any ideas how I can move forward on this? The
machines are in labs without internet connections and I am attempting to run the updater from
    the desktop.
    any help appreciated...

Or - if you are using a late version of Windows - right click the AAM icon and choose 'Run as Administrator'.

  • How do I stop links on pages from being highlighed with color? Doesn't happen with Explorer - just Firefox. It is annoying

When I open web pages using Firefox, all of the outbound links
on the page are have a colored shading around them. Not only
is it annoying, sometime it's the same color as the link text which
    makes the link unreadable.
I know this must be a simple adjustment, but I have looked high and
low, googled, etc., and cannot find a satisfactory answer.
    Help!

If the background of links is red then that is probably caused by an extension like SEO or SearchStatus that has the option set to highlight noFollow links.
You can check the options of such an extension.
You can click the icon on the Status bar to open the SearchStatus options and un-tick "Highlight NoFollow Links"<br />
    See http://www.quirk.biz/searchstatus/
