How to check back up or restore to my phone

What do you mean by "check" - like, seeing what the files are on your backup?  Answer, no.  What do you mean by check a restore?

  • How do you backup and restore Boot Camp?

I thought I'd drop by and ask my perenial question: How do you backup and restore Boot Camp?
I'm running Windows 7 if it matters, on a MBPn 17 2010 core-i7 and my daughter will soon be running on a MBP 13 2011 core-i7.
I'm currently using SuperDuper! and Time Machine for the Mac side, and am backing up using Disk Utility capturing the entire Win7 partition but have no confidence that it will work if I restore it.
What does everyone here use, and have you successfully restored your Windows 7 environment?

For me, Paragon Hard Disk Manager Suite 2011.
It contains Clone OS and other tools, for $49.
I'm not sure Paragon Backup is "Apple Boot Camp" friendly or not.
All available Paragon Hard Disk Management technologies are available in onesuite.

While lack of mention of Apple Boot Camp in System Backup may not be an issue, I have never used it. Paragon also has volume snapshot and other Mac OS tools - but then they are not all offered in a Suite to provide NTFS, HFS, Mac repair, etc.

Lion will have to modify the partition tables to add its own Windows 7-ish system recovery partition, so I would definitely get a good backup strategy in place - and tested - ahead of time. Contrary to the "shouldn't have any impact" I always see an impact, and also re-initialize drives when a new OS comes out (though maybe wait for the .2 release).

  • How do I backup and restore an Iphone that is totally destroyed and not functioning in any way

My iphone fell off the back bumper of an ambulance and was run over. Probably several times. The case held it together but the screen is TOTALLY destroyed and I can't do anything on the phone. I have the replacement now but when I try to restore the old (destroyed) one, I can't back it up because I need to put my passcode in on the screen and I can't restore it to factory settings until I turn off Find My Iphone. I can pull it up on Find My Iphone and erase it but I don't know if that will cause problems for the new one. How do I backup or even just restore the device if it will turn on when connected to a computer but is otherwise non functional?

Then ask them how they expect you to reset it when it's not functional. If they still insist you have to reset it or they'll charge you... well, I always thought these cell phone "insurance" plans were a scam.

  • How do I "backup" and "restore" iTunes correctly?

I am in the process to renew my PC and was wondering how I can backup my whole iTunes configuration and content (iPad, iPhone backups, applications, and other content) so that I can restore it on a new PC.
I might have overseen any posts regarding that topic, but more than happy if someone can reference to it.
    Thanks.

Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..

You can't use iCloud to back up a computer, do this on an external drive.

  • How do I backup and restore library and playlists?

I have 14 days left on my Win 7 trial version and now need to backup itunes. In the advance itunes preferences tab I have my music folder on a separate hard drive (K:\) but I dont see anything pertaining to playlists. How do i save playlists and what is the process needed to restore library and playlists once I get the OS up and running?
    Thanks in advance.

You need the itunes database. It's a file named iTunes Library.itl
Just to be safe, my advice is to back up this folder
    C:\users\ username \Music
That will include the itunes folder and that ITL file.

  • Selling my iMac. how do i backup and restore to orignial

I would like to know what I need to do to sell my iMac before selling. I have an external drive seagate and would like to have a full backup and know how to bring my iMac back to original condition. Then how to restore my new Macbook with my backup.

If you already have the MacBook, you don't have to make a backup. Just use Migration Assistant (or Setup Assistant, if it hasn't been set up yet) to transfer the files from your iMac. Read > http://pondini.org/OSX/SetupLion.html
If you want to restore from a backup, first connect the external drive to the iMac and set up Time Machine > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1427
When the first backup finishes, you will be able to restore the backup onto the MacBook.
To return the Mac to factory settings:
    1. Insert the Snow Leopard DVD and hold the C key while your Mac is starting.
    2. Choose your language and go to Utilities menu (on the menu bar) > Disk Utility.
    3. Select the hard drive at the top of the sidebar, go to Erase tab and erase the drive. If you want, you can choose one of the secure erase options if you want to make sure that your files aren't recoverable,
    4. Close Disk Utility and install Mac OS X. When the installation finishes, hold the mouse or trackpad while your Mac is starting to eject the DVD, and turn off the Mac. Remember to give the DVDs to the new owner

  • HT4847 how to get backup onto a new device

I just bought a new iphone 4s. I want to transfer over my apps and photos from my ipod onto the the iphone4s which have been backed up on the icloud. how do i do that?

I would recommend to set up an iPhone from an iPod backup, because they are two different devices, but you could set it up as a new device and could download all the already puchased apps for free.

  • Enable, backup and restore FCSvr in command line

    Hi All,
Anyone know how to enable, backup and restore Final Cut Server in command line?
    Thanks,
    Spin

First delete the /var/db/FinalCutServer/ folder and ran the Final Cut Server.dmg file to reinstall.
Next grab your most recent backup and moved the "-" file to the desktop (this contains the database restoration script).
Open up a command window and execute the following commands:
    cd "/Library/Application Support/Final Cut Server/Final Cut Server.bundle/Contents/Resources/sbin/"
    ./fcsvr_run psql px pxdb
From the psql command prompt execute this command, substituting the path to your "-" database script:
    \i /Users/finalcutserver/Desktop/-
After that finished executing I was able to start Final Cut Server and so far it looks as though everything has been restored! Fingers crossed...

  • N900 backup and restore conversations

How do I backup and restore conversations?
After a backup, rootfs and eMMC installation and restore the converation list is empty.

when you do a complete backup...all your conversations should have been included in the communications part of the back up. so after you clean booted all your rootfs and eMMC, and then do a restore, it should have been put back the way you backed it up.

  • How do I backup Navigaton Toolbar + Add-on Toolbar settings? [RECOVERING from Firefox RESET]

    Hello:
Recently had to RESET and had to manually re-instate my
    > Navigation Toolbar (the toolbar with the URL and google search in it)
    > Addson toolbar (the skinnier toolbar at the bottom)
    1) How can I backup/export/restore these toolbars?
    2) How can I automate the backup of these toolbars (like bookmarks) so it happens at a schedule set by firefox or in a preference by me?
    3) What is best way to backup my ZOOM settings (the +/-) i use on my toolbar.
I use this extensively. Almost 100% of every page i visit has a preferred zoom set. This is a critical piece of configuration for me. so I would like to understand 1) how do i back it up 2) how to I automate the backup (like bookmarks) so it occurs automatically at a schedule (either set by firefox or set in a preference by me)
    4) What is ffox support suggested procedure to backup your preference settings set in each of the ADD-ONs. I currently have over 50 add-ons and the list seems to be growing each month.
My add-on component is becoming a major component of my Firefox solution. Great in functionality, dangerous for recovering from the Firefox RESET feature. I have searched help online and found nothing of value to provide clear steps of what one must to do.
    Thankyou

    (1) Toolbar customizations are stored in a file name localstore.rdf in your personal settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder. Unlike bookmarks, Firefox does not store daily snapshots, just the latest settings. You could try backing up this file periodically using an external program or add-on. This article describes how to make a copy of your entire profile folder: [[Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles]].
To restore the settings from your old profile folder (Old Firefox Settings) you could try copying it to your current profile folder. To access your current profile folder, use
Help > Troubleshooting Information > Show Folder
Firefox may overwrite the existing localstore.rdf file when shutting down, so let Firefox shut down and wait a bit to ensure that it has finished its updating before replacing the file.
    (2) See #1
    (3) Not sure where this is stored, but probably one of the SQLite databases in the profile folder. ??
    (4) Unfortunately, I don't think there is a single universal solution for capturing all add-on data. Add-ons can store data in Firefox preferences (e.g., NoScript stores your list of approved sites in prefs.js) or their own storage, either in your Firefox profile folder or, in the case of programs installed systemwide (e.g., RoboForm or Flash), outside your Firefox profile folder. However, backups of your active profile folder presumably would help protect you against the loss of all the data stored there.
