HT4847 Mail storage

Deleted all messages, inbox, trash @ archive.  Why is mail still using 3.5G

I also seem to have used up 5g on mail storage.
I have gone to icloud.com and deleted everything there - inbox, sent, notes etc and emptied the trash.
I have gone to Mail and there is nothing in Mail.
The account is still showing as full.
I have been trying this over a month and nothing changes.
It would be nice if Apple actually monitored these forums and supported them.

on iPad: How can I delete my Mail storage from my iCloud backup?

Did anyone ever provide a resolution, because I am having the same problem.
My iCloud backup said yesterday that over 500 MB was being used by the Mail portion of the backup. So I went into iCloud.com, deleted all of the mail in my Sent Mail folder, then emptied the trash entirely. When I did that, it got worse; it said that 1.2 GB of the iCloud backup was taken up by the Mail backup. That doesn't make any sense. That is actually the opposite of what was supposed to happen.
Today, it is back to saying that Mail takes up 609.4 MB of space in the backup, but there is next-to-nothing in any of my iCloud email folders. What is going on?
Any suggestions you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

  • I have deleted a few thousand emails (with big attachments), but my mail storage hasn't decreased significantly. Help!

I have deleted a load of messages from my sent (about 3,000) and also deleted folders with big email files in them. I started off with 3GB of mail storage and now i am only 2.9GB when i know i have deleted at least 2GB. Not sure why this has happened - are they sitting somewhere on the Cloud taht i can't see?
    Cheers

Did you actually empty the Trash? (On the iCloud website click the cogwheel icon at top right and choose 'Emtpy Trash'). The emails won't be deleted until you do this.

  • N9: MfE Hotmail: Mail Storage Full Free some space...

    Hi Friends,
Does anyone having the error " Mail Storage Full free up some space first"...? I have this issue with N9. I just deleted the account and added it again and Hotmail working under mmailsettings.. but no contacts.
I have so many issues with Hotmail & contacts that I am going to abandon my N9 once Lumia 920 released (of course I will remain Nokia Fan)...
    I just wanted to know:
    1. Once my MfE stops, my whole contact list disappear? Extremely annoying and I don't know to add contacts again.
    2. I don't care about mail, I just need my contacts back.. does anyone knows how to keep the contacts in the phone once imported? and they remain in the phone for life?
Please help.. I usually don't attend phone from unknown contacts and now all my friends are unknown as the phone numbers are not associated with their names.
    Thank you.

you can go into the setting of the exchange account and make it NOT sync the contaacts after you have them on your phone.

  • How I can delete my entire icloud storage? (Mail Storage)

How I can delete my entire icloud storage? I can't delete the mail storage. I have tried but it didn't work. There isn't any mail on my icloud mail account but it seems that I use 11 mb as mail storage. I can't delete the mail part.

  • How do I set up additional mail storage folders?

I have installed the cloud and my mail storage folders did not import into the IPAD.  How do I set up additional mail storage folders?

did not have a mobile me account.
    Copied from your previous post.
Waited for the ICloud to come out installed on both the MAC and the IPad.  Started an .me account.
Did you have a MobileMe email account first or not?
And regarding your Mail storage folders that you want available on the iPad, mail storage folders from which email account? Since you just created an iCloud email account, any locally stored mailboxes created for another email account must be transferred to the server for your iCloud account for the mailboxes to be available with the account with the Mail app on your iPad. All server stored mailboxes with an IMAP account will be available automatically when accessing the account with the iPad's Mail app, but you must place any locally stored mailboxes on the server first. If you use the Mail.app on your Mac, select an drag a locally stored mailbox under the iCloud desgination in the Mail.app mailboxes drawer to copy the mailbox to the server with your iCloud account.

  • How to manage my mail storage on IPad2?

How to manage my Mail Storage on iPad2?  I have 2.6 GB.  All mailboxes are cleared and only about 20 messages are in the InBox.  How do I reduce the storage?
    Janet Choate

No, I realized that about how many emails it downloads.  Can't say I understand why they chaged it.
But my issue is that I have 2.6 GB of mail storage on my Ipad.  I deleted all my mailboxes and have only 10 messages in my inbox.  Do not understand why I have 2.6 GB of mail storage.  Any ideas?

  • HT4847 Icloud storage reset value on icloud-emails

I have deleted all my icloud emails sucessfully including the trash can (about 3 GB). However,  in settings @ "manage storage" it didn't reset the Mail storage value, consecuently I cannot add files to the icloud. What may be wrong here?

You can go to Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > Manage Storage, and select the backup of the old device. This will give you a breakdown of how much storage each individual app takes up but you can't see what exactly is backed up.

  • HT4847 iCloud Storage still full even have emptied the Mail trash

Hi all.. I have problem with my iCloud Storage. I've deleted all the messages in Mail Application on iCloud.com and empty the trash also. But my iCloud storage still full, and the information from "Manage Storage", there are 4.2 GB data still on my Mail..
What should I do? please help..

Probably not. I have exactly the same problem. Had 2.1GB of Mail in storage. Deleted all mail from my Mail account.
    Emptied trash.
No effect. still 2.1GB of Mail, which, together with 2.7 GB of other backups etc, means my iCloud storage is full.

  • HT4847 my storage is showing 45 Gb available out of 55Gb, and regrdless,,

It does not make sense E Mails keep on coming notifying me on short space, I purchased the Max space 55Gb and 10 Minutes later the same E Mail notice
I Am 67 and communicating with 18 Years old tech support wizards is by far a chalenging task.
    Dear sol
You have now exceeded your iCloud storage, including an additional amount provided to allow you to continue receiving email. As a result, you will not be able to send or receive new email messages with your iCloud email address until you free up storage space.
It never stops, does anyone has a suggestion,,,,?? PLEASE

The problem could be that you don't have enough storage on the device itself, not on iCloud.  Go to Settings>General>Usage to see how much "Storage" you have available on the device.  Farther down the list is the available storage on iCloud.
    Also check:
Go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backups>Manage Storage; there, tap the device you need info on and the resulting screen lists Backup Options with which apps store data on iCloud as well.
A device needs many MB of storage in order to perform a backup to iCloud.

  • Yahoo Mail storage on iMac

If I set-up Apple Mail on my Mac desktop to access my Yahoo BizMail account, including the 40K+ archived emails there, will Apple Mail download all those to my harddrive, or just access them from the Yahoo 'cloud'?
And if download is the default, can it be setup to download only recent mail, then send and access only recent mail from Apple Mail, while keeping all the archived mails on Yahoo?
    Thanks.

    Hi Freezermale,
If you are not seeing any storage gains after moving a portion of your iCloud emails, you may want to double-check that they were in fact moved/deleted from iCloud and not simply copied/duplicated in your 'On My Mac' folder. If you continue to have issues with your iCloud storage, you may find the following articles helpful (apologies if you have already seen them):

  • HT4847 icloud storage issue!

I have very few apps that are "backed up" and not a part of the free back ups with the purchase of 5GB. How do I delete data so that I can free up space and not have to purchase additional storage? I don't understand why I am anywhere near 5GB???

You might want to check the size of your camera roll, as photos and videos attached to your text messages.  They are all included in the backup and sometimes take up quite a bit of space.

  • HT4847 Icloud storage

I am a Smow Leopard User. I use Icloud only for mail and currently my account only has 8 messages.
Why do I receive emails from ICLOUD telling me my Icloud storage is almost full?
HOw can this be possible? There are no attachments, I didn't by anything from the AppleStore.
Certainly I am very far from 5 GB.
As I also received this message in an another account where there are no messages at all I don't understand. Is it some kind of mistake from the server or a virus?
I am very upset with Apple Mail policy. I used to have 400GB with the MAC mail. and a few mail only accounts and 2 family accounts.
All this changed iwth this ICLOUD business stilll I dont use Lion nor Mountain Lion so I don't and never will use the other services Icloud provides.
    Any hints?

Try contacting Apple or visit iCloud Support. It might just be a glitch with the email system.

  • IMAP vs POP mail storage on iPad

An advantage of IMAP is said to be that it doesn't take up an ever growing amount of local storage space. But I get the impression that POP behaves the much same way on the iPad, in that the IOS Mail app keeps only so many pieces of email locally. If so, am I right in thinking that deleting mail in either IMAP or POP makes no practical difference to the amount of storage used? I.e if you have Mail set to display, say, 100 pieces of mail, that's how much mail gets stored locally on the iPad using either POP or IMAP?

    Thanks Bob for your reply.
I'm well aware that IMAP has syncing advantages. My question was strictly about storage but perhaps I wasn't clear.
Am I right in thinking that — either with IMAP or POP — I need not worry about excess storage of mail on an iPad because the iPad self-limits to, say, 100 pieces of mail or whatever you set the limit at?
    Regards.
