HT4847 Showing more iCloud  usage than phone

I have two products attached to my iCloud account. My iPhone 4S and my iPad 3. On my iPhone 4S (32GB) it shows 8.9GB used and 19.3GB free. But on iCloud it is showing that my iPhone is using 17.5GB of my iCloud storage. How is this possible???

25MB to 132MB isn't that much... that being said if you are connecting to WiFi make sure you turn cellular data off in the settings. You can be connected to WiFi, but devices may disconnect and attach to the cellular network.

my iphone 6 Is using 54gb when I know I use less than that and I only had this phone for few months

How much is being used by other? This is the iOS, application data, mail data, and a few other things. If Other is more than 3GB, then that is indicitive of corrupted files on the phone. The way to take care of this is a restore. You can try a restore from a backup first, however that generally will just copy the corrupt file back to the phone, so you would need to restore as a new device. Remember, this will delete all data off the device.

  • TS4009 I recently purchased more icloud, however, my phone will not  backup to it-not even manually.

Recently purchased more icloud; however my phone will not back up to it-not even manually.  Has not backed it up since December.

If you get the error "Backup not successful" and you've tried deleting the last backup and trying to back up manually without luck, try the following test:   Go to...
Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>manage Storage, tap your device name in the Backups section, then look under Backup options.  Turn off all apps from backup and then do a manual backup.  If that doesn't work, then this post will not help.  If the backup works, then go back to the app list and turn some on and try another backup.  If successful, keep repeating these steps.  If it fails at some point, then try to zero in on the one app that seems to make the backup fail.  (I had this problem and found one app failing, probably due to a corrupt data file.)
This process will take time, but if a backup works with no app data being used but clearly fails with the original settings, then somewhere in the mix of apps is a "bad" one.

  • Does LTE use more data usage than 4G?

Does LTE use more data usage than 4G?

    The question makes no sense.
LTE and 4G are types of connections. They do not use Data, they allow your apps and services on the iPhone or iPad to use the Data access.
In most cases 4G is slightly slower than LTE.

  • Finder showing more available space than my drive has

My finder window is showing that my 500GB drive on my new MB Air has 662 GB of free space available.  I like that math, but obviously there is a problem.  In reality, I should only show about 150 GB available.
Disk Utility shows the correct used/free space, so why is finder so off?
Interestingly enough, this is a replacement MBA because I had issues with my original one including Finder showing LESS available, than I actually had. I Never had these problems in Snow Leopard on my MBP.  Any suggestions?

Turn off Time Machine in its preference pane. Wait a few seconds, then turn it back on. You may need to relaunch the Finder or log out to see the effect.

  • Disk shows double GB usage than I can account for.

When windows and other  programs read my hard drive they show about 90 GB used. I can only account for 50 GB of this supposed usage. Using JDiskReport confirms that the Cdrive (local disk) file tree only has files totaling about 50 GB. Where has 40 GB of my hard drive gone? Why am I using almost double the space I should be?
I've run defrag and disk error checking and disk cleanup.
    Lenovo model: 3000 N100
120 GB hard disk (109 GB formatted and partitioned)
    1 GB ram
    1.8 GHZ dual core pentium
    Windows Vista Home Premium
    Help would be greatly appreciated,
    thanks in advance.

I turned off windows backup and restarted my computer but there was no real change in disk space. There seemed to be only two restore points, from yesterday and the day before (when I installed software).
Did you mean to turn off the Lenovo rescue and recovery? I'm not sure how this is done. There doesnt seem to be an option for that when in rescue and recovery. In this case could you tell me how to turn off Lenovo restore points?
One other thing, there seems to be a disk error related to one of my programs (Ahead Nero). I cant uninstall the program and window keeps asking me to run chckdsk (check disk) which I have a number of times, but which hasnt fixed the problem. Is it possible that this is causing extra disk usage?
    thanks again in advance.

  • Finder shows more space available than Disk utility

I am clearing out space on my main hard drive. The Finder shows that I have 265 Gbytes available (out of 750), but disk first aid shows that I have only 90 Gbytes.
    Disk Utility shows no problem.

    Morning Bodance,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
There could be several reasons why this could occur.

  • HT1688 I did a back up and now trying to do the restore and it KEEPS saying there not enough space - I've deleted all kinds of things but it still keeps saying that.  It shows more space available than what is actually used.

I'm tryin to get my iPhone 4s unlocked and I was told to do a back up and restore - well, over and over it says I don't have enough space for restore and I've already deleted a lot

  • Websphere/Oracle 11 - much more Heap Usage than with Oracle 10

    Hi all,
while testing our application with Oracle 11 (previously, we had Oracle 10), we saw that our server uses much more heap space.
It seems as it has something to do with T4CConnection/T4CPreparedStatement; there are 500 objects of T4CPreparedStatement allocated. Someone told me, that Oracle 11 is using SoftReferences to keep the connection pool; but we don't need that.
Is that correct? Could that be the problem for the increased heap space? If yes - how can we avoid connection pooling?
    Thanks a lot!!

I suspect you are getting a connection for each user and holding onto it for the duration that he is logged in. Also, that you are not closing resultSet and preparedStatements correctly. Rewrite all your code to get/use/close a connection each time its needed as quickly as possible in a try/catch/finally block. There is no performance penalty opening and closing connections countless times in your code (actually, you are not really closing it, but returning it to the pool).
Here is a previous post I provided on how to get/use/close a connection:
Re: can not get the right query result using JDBC
Note: within the above example, you can pass the already open connection to another function within the above function for it to use. Within that other function, you create a new preparedStatement and resultSet. After using it, you close the resultSet and preparedStatement (in that second function), but not the connection (its closed in the outer function).

  • My iphone wifi data from the consolidated file shows more wifi networks than I have been exposed to. Does the iphone also collect location on wifi networks that are within reach of the wifi networks it has access to?

I took out the wifi location data from the consolidated file and plotted into google maps. Clearly, not all those wifi networks are in areas or really close to areas I've been to, yet somewhat close. Does it mean that if I am within a range of a wifi network my iphone will not only collect location data of that particular wifi network but also all others that are within reach of that wifi network and so forth?

Sorry. We can't help you. It's no longer an iPhone. Apple won't touch it.
Take it to whoever replaced the screen and see if they can help you.
iPhones are not user servicable and Apple does not sell iPhone parts at all. I'd be surprised if you were actually able to back it up at this point. It sounds like it's completely borked.

  • My device iphone6 16gb storage is showing more than what i have installed in it. I tried restoring the phone but it still holds around 900 mb of storage which is not accounted. When i connect my phone to Itunes around 868mb is shown. Help

I have an iphone6 16gb and the device storage is showing more than what i have installed in it. A few days ago suddenly i got a popup window of my device storage getting full though i hardly had 4-5 apps and 500mb of photos.  I tried restoring the phone and using it again as a new phone, i got my 10gb of storage but it still holds around 900 mb of storage which is not accounted. When i connect my phone to itunes, around 868mb is shown in the others section. I have no backed up data except for the contacts which are there in the icloud account. i dont understand what is that 868 mb of data.

This space is taken up by iOS 8.

I just purchased more storage for my phone because I needed a software update and it said I couldn't do it until I purchased more cloud storage, so I did. Now nothing is showing up and still cannot update my software? Does it take time to show up?

Sometimes it does.  However, adding more iCloud storage doesn't give you any more space on your phone if that's what you're trying to do.  To create more space on your phone, you have to delete of sync something off of it.  You could, for example, you could delete all your music, then perform the update, then sync your music back to your phone using iTunes.
