  • What will happen to the photos on my iPhone 5 if I turn off Camera Roll under Manage Storage/This Phone?

I only have 238 mb of Cloud storage left for my phone.  When I checked what is using all of my space, I saw that 4.2GB of space is used by Camera Roll.  All of the Camera Roll pictures are in iPhoto on my Mac Book Pro and most are also archived on an external drive.  Will they disappear from my phone and/or computer if I uncheck the Camera Roll for back ups?  What happens if I do that and turn it back on a week from now?

They will not be erased from your phone, they will only not be included in the iCould backup anymore.
If you take many photos and videos with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, you might notice that they take up most of your iCloud storage. To check the size of the backup on your device in iOS 8 or later, tap Settings > iCloud > Storage > Manage Storage. (If you're using an earlier version of iOS, tap Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > Manage Storage.) Then tap the name of your iOS device. The backup size is under Photo Library.
To reduce the size of your Photo Library backup, save your photos and videos to your computer, then manually back up your iOS device. If you want to keep your photos and videos on your iOS device, you can turn off Photo Library in Backup using the steps above or purchase more storage. If there are any photos that you don't want to keep, you can delete them. Just open photos and select the item you want to delete. Then click the Trash icon and tap Delete Photo.

Have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • We have one iPhone3s w the lates ios6. have selected iCloud backup for photos but do not see any photos when I log on to iCloud

we have one iPhone3gs w the lates ios6. have selected iCloud backup for photos but do not see any photos when I log on to iCloud. How can I get all my photos from the iPhone3GS to iCloud?

You can't see inside a backup file on icloud, thus you can't view your photos at icloud.com.

    Yes, you can.
Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > Manage Storage > [Your Device]. Under Backup Options, turn Camera Roll OFF.

  • Losing app docs when turning off docs & data iCloud backup switch.

Will I lose the documents in my I annotate app if I turn off the docs & data switch in my iPad?  I don't know if there is a difference between docs saved directly to the iPad vs saved through an app like I annotate witch is saved to the iPad or cloud. I CANNOT afford to lose these docs & data.  However, I must back this up.

New question, I'm trying to do a software update, the iOS 7.1.2.  I keep getting an error.  What do I need to do?  FYI, I cleared out my iCloud backup & I have 4.8 G of my 5 G iCloud storage.  Don't know if that matters.  Please help, thank you.

  • Camera Roll iCloud Storage

Does anyone know how the camera roll is handled when you purchase more space on iCloud than you have available on your iPhone?  Does the camera roll expand out wirelessly and virtually on the iPhone to use the extra storage in the iCloud?  I'm not talking about photostream here.  You see I'm hoping that I don't have to use my PC anymore with my iPhone. And to do that I will be wanting to store all my photos on iCloud.

This Apple document answered many of my questions:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4859
    From my understanding:
I have enabled iCloud backup and the camera roll is included in that backup  But unfortunately I have no access to it from the web (currently). And the camera roll on my iPhone 4 definitely does not expand out wirelessly and virtually to include the camera roll backup on the web.
If I delete a photo from my camera roll and then do a couple of iCloud backups then my photo might be gone for good.  Not sure if iCloud is doing a differential or incremental backup or mirroring or something else.  That said, I think that iCloud does keep my last three (full) backups.  So I might be in luck if I delete a photo accidentally.  But a full restore from iCloud would be required?
Once I run out of space on my iPhone 4 then I will probably need to move my excess pictures and videos off  my phone and back them up separately.
I'm not getting rid of my computer just yet.

  • Missing Camera Roll - iCloud "Some items could not be restored"

After having some problems with my previous ipad 3, I had it replaced and tried restoring everything from iCloud. Everything went seemingly well until a pop-up appeared saying "Some items could not be restored." Everything seems to be accounted for except for the camera roll which looks to be about ~50MB or less. The backup for my ipad is 260MB while only giving me ~210MB after iCloud is "finished" restoring.
I have tried troubleshooting it by restoring my ipad and then using different backup versions of the ipad on two different networks (school and home) with no results. Unfortunately I never started photostream or even thought of backing it up manually through my itunes. (I used my ipad straight out of the box when I got it ) The "explanation/resolution" that apple gives me is "Some data such as Camera Roll photos, videos, and app data was not successfully restored from the backup. Wait a few minutes and then attempt the restore again while connected to a reliable Wi-Fi network," which is clearly not working.
Has anyone else gotten this error before? Any troubleshooting ideas?
    Thank you in advance,
    Alex

I think we cannot trust iCloud, at least not for backups...
Same problem here, except that's I have an iPhone 3GS and most apps doesn't install after download (they reach 100% "waiting..." and disappear right before install). I'm trying since may, 25 - no result.

  • HT4901 trying to turn off calendars in Icloud

I am attempting to backup my 4S to Icloud and continually fail since updating to ios6. I am now trying to turn off Calendars in Icloud with no success. I check to turn off Calendars and it begins to run but never succeeds and eventually fails with out turning off the Calendars. Any Suggestions?

Can you be more specific?  The iCloud "backup menu" is in Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, then tap the name of your device under "Backups".  You won't see "Calendar" listed under Backup Options because the calendar is not part of the iCloud backup.
So where, exactly, are you trying to turn off Calendars (in what menu)?

  • I upgraded my 3rd gen iTouch to iOS 5.1.1 and now its speed to repond is slower and the battery goes flat quicker than before the upgrade. Skype, Sky iCloud and other apps are turned off (I think). Has anybody else suffered with this? Any ideas?

I do backup with iCloud.  I can't wait until the new iMac is available so that I can once again have my files in more than 1 location without needing to rely solely on the cloud.
I also rely on iTunes and my MacBook and Time Machine as well as backing up to iCloud. I know many users know have gone totally PC free, but I chose to use iCloud merely as my third backup.
I assume that the restore would result in my ability to open Pages and Numbers and fix the problem with deleting apps, but this would also mean that if my Numbers documents still exist solely within the app and are just not on iCloud for some reason that they would be gone forever.  Is that right?
In a word, yes. In a little more detail.... When you restore from an iCloud backup, you must erase the device and start all over again. There is no other way to access the backup in iCloud without erasing the device. Consequently, you are starting all over again. Therefore, it would also be my assumption that Pages and Numbers will work again and that the deleting apps issues would be fixed as well.
If the documents are not in the backup, and you do not have a backup elsewhere, the documents could be gone forever.

  • I've just bought an iPhone 5S in the UK, seems like a big mistake. I have turned off sync to icloud from the phone for both my contacts and calendar, as told on itunes. However, iTunes still says they are synced from iCloud and wont sync to PC, Fix ?

I've just bought an iPhone 5S in the UK, seems like a big mistake, but luckily by law we can return goods, which is exactly what is going to happen if I cant get this to work. This is my business phone, not having it functional can cost me money.
I have turned off sync to icloud from the phone for both my contacts and calendar, as told on itunes. However, iTunes still says they are synced from iCloud and wont sync to my PC, why and how do I fix it so that it doesnt go to iCloud for anything ?
The phone currently has no contacts or calendar information installed.
PC is HP Probook 4730s running Windows 7, Professional, version 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601.

  • If I turn off contacts in iCloud, will it delete contacts I put in personally that weren't synced?

If I turn off contacts in iCloud, will it delete contacts I put in personally that weren't synced?
my mom synced her iphone to iCloud, and she got my contacts and I got hers. I don't want her's!
If I turn contacts off in iCloud, will it delete my contacts I put in?

It will delete them from your device but not from iCloud.  Also, when you turn contacts off, you will get a prompt asking you if you want to keep them on your device.  If you choose Keep on My iDevice, a copy will stay on your device.  It will still include your mom's contacts though so you will need to go through and delete her contacts from your device afterwards.  Caution: be sure NOT to delete her contacts from your device before you turn off contact syncing with iCloud.  If you do, you will delete her contacts everywhere and they will be lost.

  • How to turn off camera sound on Nokia E5

I cannot turn off camera sound on Nokia E5-00. Who can help me?

    @navbond007
    Hi navbond007,
Digital camera's do have a sounds when a picture is being taken but this noise isn't artificial like in mobile phones it is the shutter mechanism. Some digital camera's shutter makes a low or no noise but they do have a beep to give an indication that a picture is being taken. In countries where this is compulsory by law it should give some indication that a picture is being taken.
Also please take into account one device is a phone and the other a dedicated camera.
    Regards

  • How to turn off camera shutter sound

how to turn off camera shutter sound on iphone5?

You're getting different answers because different countries have different rules. In some places Apple is allowed to turn off the camera sound when the device is put on mute. In others, because of privacy concerns, Apple is not allowed to do so. Whenther you can or not depends on where you are. If mute doesn;t do it for you, you probably cannot turn it off.
