HT4847 Viewing camera roll on iCloud

How do I view my camera roll on iCloud so I can delete part, but not all of it?

Welcome to the Apple community.
It is photo stream that is part of iCloud. What photo stream does when you enable it, is to take any new photos taken on your mobile device after photo stream was activated, and add them to the photo stream album. iCloud will then sync the photos within the photo stream album to the cloud, where they can be synced to other mobile devices and iPhoto on your Mac that are also enabled for photo stream. It does not place copies of those photos at iCloud.com.
Photo stream will only keep your photos for 30 days and can hold no more than 1000 photos at any one time. Although photo stream photos are deleted from the cloud after 30 days, they are not necessarily deleted from the photo stream albums on each device. However if you were to start deleting photos from your camera roll to free up space, any photos that were removed from photo stream at any time, may well mean that you end up without those photos on your mobile device.

    What exactly have you deleted.
If you have deleted the photos from your camera roll on your device, then you may well have lost them, assuming that they are not also in photo stream.
Please tell is exactly what you deleted and from where.

  • HT4906 How do I delete photos that were in my Camera Roll from iCloud? I deleted them on my phone, but I'm still getting the notification that my iCloud backup is almost full.

After getting the notification that my icloud backup space was running out on my iphone5, I deleted 300 photos from my Camera Roll. But it didn't increase any space in my icloud storage. How do I remove those photos from my icloud storage without deleting the rest of the Camera Roll from icloud backup?

Does this involve iPhoto for the Mac in any way?
If your backup space is full then the best souiton is to increase the amount of space you have by purchasing more since backups are critical to not losing things
You can not remove things from iCloud directly
Your question I believe belongs in the iCloud forum - possibly in the iPhone forum - unless there is somehting I do not see here it does not belonge here in the iPhoto for Mac forum

  • Unable to view camera roll in photos app

Trying to view camera roll in "photos app" and the greyed area and title "Albums" is covering up, over top of the Camera Roll area so I cannot select it to view it?
I can view the camera roll in my camera app no problem but not in the Photos app that came with Iphone 4. any suggestions?

Try rebooting the phone by pressing and holding the on/off and home buttons simultaneously until the screen goes blank and you see the apple logo. It should take about 10-15 seconds to reboot.

  • IPhone 5:  Restoring Camera Roll from iCloud Backup.

When restoring all data from iCloud Backup, Camera Roll never finished downloading.  It was stuck at 5 out of 715.  How can I restore Camera Roll from iCloud Backup now that the initial "start up" Restore is complete?

Got my photos & videos back into camera roll!  I woke this morning and all 701 were there.  This is a few less than the most recent backup had, but good enough. So, there were a few things flakey about my experience restoring from iCloud.  Therefore as many, including yourself have noted, iCloud IS ABSOLUTELY NOT A TRUSTED METHOD for backing up, storing or restoring photos & videos.  If your photos & videos are important to you, backup to your computer at regular intervals.
    What worked?
1:  Following randers4's suggestion to review ezjules' post (see above for link).
2:  When the most recent backup failed, I went to the next one available (2 days old)
3:  When the Photo App displaying X of XXX images downloading in camera roll got hung up on the first few images, I powered down the phone and it resumed downloading more.  However, it hung up 2 more times and then proceeded while I went to bed.
4:  Phone was plugged into A/C outlet entire time, no incoming or outgoing phone calls or texts.
I am no longer going to back up photos or videos to the cloud.  I will also cancel my additional storage capacity on iCloud.  Why pay for secure storage that is so flakey?!?

  • HT4847 My camera roll back up on my iCloud is coming up at 5.2GB how do I clear up space, will it delete all photos on my iPhone?

My camera roll back up on my iCloud is coming up at 5.2 gb
If I turn off the back ups will it delete all photos on my iCloud?
Or delete all photos off my camera roll?

If you turn off your Camera Roll backup from your phone backup on iCloud, your Camera Roll photos won't be included in the next backup, getting 5.2 GB more of free space. Photo Stream has nothing to do with your phone backup, because your photos will still be there until 30 days after adding them, when Photo Stream deletes the photos automatically

  • Camera roll and icloud

I have backed up all my photos from my iphone to icloud. If I now delete some of these photos from my iphone how can I view them from the cloud. Will deleting from the camera roll actually delete them from the cloud. If so whats the point

What I do is I connect my phone to my computer then I import it to my computer and delete it from my iPhone and it stays on iCloud photo stream. Because on my iTunes I already have it set up for my pictures to save on iCloud...

  • Is there any way I can recover deleted pictures from Camera Roll and iCloud? Please please help me. All of my precious pictures are gone that I can never EVER get back. I dont have any iCloud or Camera Roll backup; and my PC can't download more software.

Hi everyone! I'm in need of extreme help. You see, today, two months ago I went out of the country from the United States of America. I took about 1500 pictures ONLY on my iPod touch. When I returned to the United States to my home, I accidentally deleted a little more than 100 pictures. Then, thinking I could get ALL of the pictures back at once, I restored my iPod touch from an iCloud backup I had a couple of days before. Instead of getting all of my pics back, they all got erased. The pictures that I did delete were deleted from Camera Roll AND Photo Stream (iCloud). Then, I was only able to get about 500 pictures back from iCloud. So about 1000 are still gone. When i did the restore, I thought all my pictures would be there, but they weren't and I couldn't possibly figure out why; because a restore from iTunes or iCloud is supposed to restore your device to the settings of the time you backed up your device. All of my other settings were just the way they were supposed tone for the time being, all except my pictures, which contained not one picture in any folder. So EVERYTHING from Cameta Roll was gone, and only about 500 pictures survived. I kept retoring and restoring, hoping they would come back but unfortunately they didn't. Then one time a restored again, I saw all of them back!! But then, within a blink of an eye, they disappeared as soon as I tapped on one picture. Then, I knew they were still in reach, but I just had to find them. Where could those 1000 pictures go? I looked up how to recover deleted photos, but I have to install a software. My computer CANNOT possibly take anymore software on it, my PC is very sensitive and I cannot delete anything off of it. Please please help me. What can I do to get my pictures back? They are memories that I can never EVER EVER get back. Thank you so much.

Please please help me, if you know how.

  • Camera Roll to iCloud. How does this work?

I need help with my photos on camera roll. I need to delete them to have more space on my phone to take more. I want to be able to keep the pics in my camera roll though. • Viewing camera roll on ipad from mac

When my ipad is connected to my mac is there a way to just view images on the camera roll, not to include all imported photos as well?
I have 4400 images on the ipad and only 126 in camera roll on ipad.  I want to be able to just import the 126 photos in the camera roll to the mac (I've just moved these from ios iphoto).
I tried various options in the view menu but there doesnt seem to be anything that enables a sort?
At the moment I'm having to go to the respective dates and to select images.  Is there an easier way.
    Veronica

Veronica, do you only want to view the photos on your Mac or archive them in full quality on the Mac?
The "Shared Photo Stream" suggested by Old Toad  is great for browsing the photos, viewing and sharing, but it will compress the photos slightly and not transmit at the full resolution. If you want to download them in full resolution from the Camera Roll, to archive them finally on your Mac, you could try to save selected photos to iTunes:
Save photos to your computer using iTunes
Connect your iOS device to your computer.
Select a photo, album, event, or journal and tap the Share icon  > iTunes.
If you selected an album or event, confirm or change the photos you want to share:
Select all the photos in an album or event: Tap All.
Select a range of photos: Tap Choose Photos, tap Range, tap the first and last photos in the range, and tap Next.
In iTunes, select your device  icon (below Devices) and click Apps at the top of the window.
Below File Sharing, select iPhoto (in Apps).
Select the Shared Photos folder under iPhoto Documents.
Click Save To and select the location on your computer where you want to save the photos.
To view your photos, go to the Finder and look in the location you selected above.

  • Viewing Camera Roll in Windows 7

With my iPhone 3G, it showed up on Windows 7 as an external drive, and I was able to navigate through My Computer to find and view the photos in the camera roll. From here I could copy them to the computer... With the iPhone 4 I am only showed a DCIM Folder that has nothing inside it... Any suggestions?

  • Deleting the pictures my camera roll to iCloud Photo Library beta?

What if I delete several pictures from my camera roll then will it automatic to delete from iCloud Photo Library beta?

Yes according to the quote below from iCloud Photo Library beta FAQ - Apple Support
Deleting a photo or video from your Photos app will also remove the item from iCloud Photo Library and from your iCloud storage allocation. Photos and videos you remove can be recovered from the Recently Deleted album for 30 days. After 30 days, your content will be removed from the Recently Deleted album. Photos are backed up on our servers for up to 30 days after they're deleted from the Photos app.
If you are wanting to keep the photo but reduce storage space used on the phone, the following quote from the same source may help:
How does iCloud Photo Library save space on my device?
If you turn on Optimize [device] Storage, iCloud Photo Library will automatically manage the size of your library on your iOS device, so you can make the most of your device's storage and access more photos than ever. iCloud Photo Library stores the original, high-resolution photos and videos in iCloud and can keep lightweight, device-optimized versions on each of your devices. As long as you have enough storage, recent photos and videos that you access the most will stay on your device at full resolution.
You can turn on Optimize [device] Storage from Settings > iCloud > Photos or Settings > Photos & Camera > iCloud Photo Library on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. You need an Internet connection to access an original photo or video that’s stored only in iCloud.

  • HT4946 Camera roll taking iCloud storage space?

If photostream doesn't count against the 5GB of storage on iCloud, why is it showing that 3.5GB of my backup is for my camera roll?

When you take a photo or video on the phone, or save a photo from an email, the web, a text message, etc., they are saved to your camera roll album.  Photos added to the camera roll are then added to your photo stream when you camera is off, your phone is connected to wifi and you have at least 20% battery life remaining.
Photo stream photos are then synced to your other devices sharing the same iCloud account with photo stream enabled.  These photos appear in your my photo stream album.  They are separate from the ones in your camera roll album (you can delete the photo from one and it will remain in the other) and do not count against your iCloud storage.
The iCloud (and iTunes) backup includes the photos and videos stored in your camera roll album, but not the ones stored in your my photo stream album.  The backup, of course, does count against your storage plan.

  • Camera roll to iCloud

Is it possible to move my entire camera roll to my iCloud account in order to free up space on my iPhone?

You can do this by adding the photos to a shared stream and inviting yourself as a subscriber (see http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mmc0cd7e99 for details).
