i have a 2nd MAC OSX 10.5.3, but i cannot remember the admin password and i dont have a recovery disc.
how can i do a clean install and get this working again?

Having a serial number won't help you track it.
If you set up and activate find my iphone on your iphone, then go to icloud.com and sign in to track your phone.
That is the only way to track your phone.

If you have three security questions and a rescue email address, sign in to My Apple ID and select the “Password and Security” tab to send an email to your rescue email address to reset your security questions and answers.
If you have one security question and you know your Apple ID password, sign in to My Apple ID and select the “Password and Security” tab to reset your security question.
If you have one security question, but don't remember your Apple ID password, contact Apple Support for assistance. Learn more about creating a temporary support PIN to help Apple confirm your identity when you contact Apple Support.
Note: If you forgot your password and answer your security questions incorrectly too many times in a row, you will be unable to try to answer your security questions for a period of time. During that time, you will not be able to reset your password and will not have access to your account.

If iCloud Backup is set to Off in Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup, it means that your iPod will not automatically back up to iCloud, but will automatically back up to your computer when you sync. The only way you would risk losing data is if you have never synced with iTunes before. You will have to contact orange to get your phone unlock. ONly the carrier that the phone is locked to can unlock the phone.

If you have failed to maintain a backup, then you may seriously be out of luck.
Apps can be redownloaded as many times as you like.
If you are in the US and running iTunes 10.3 or later, then it is possible to redownloaded music via iCloud from the purchase history in iTunes.
Outside the US, you can try contacting iTunes customer support. Just keep in mind they are under no obligation to assist simply because the customer failed to maintain backups of the customers purchased content.
