HT4854 trouble downloading mountain lion

I just bought mountain lion at the app store and it says it is downloading, but the progress bar below the icon in my doc remains empty (pure white).  I'm trying to upgrade from 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard).  Any idea why it's not working?

Relaunch the MAS app, login, select Purchases, and view an useable progress bar. If it's not DLing or paused, then http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/contact.html?form=account

No, I don't know about that kind of software. It isn't Pages anyway. You need somekind of database.

  • HT4854 I downloaded Mountain Lion, now can't find it, to install. About this Mac, says I am still on 10.7.4

Last night, I downloaded Mountain Lion. I watched, as an unfamiliar screen came up, showing the download progress, when it was all over, my desktop went back to looking and acting just like Lion. I tried restarting it, nothing. I tried restarting again, nothing. I performed a "Find" for Mountain Lion, nothing. I performed a "Find" for OSX 10.8, nothing. I am simply trying to install it on the computer I downloaded it to.
What am I doing wrong? I wrote an email to Apple support, and got a "canned" email back, telling me how to generically retrieve downloads from the App Store. But, by following those directions, I do not see (nor did I expect to see) Mountain Lion in my iTunes. I see it in my download history, but no method to install it, which I thought it was doing, last night, when I bought and thought I was downloading it.

Open Launchpad and see if "Install Mountain Lion ..." is displayed. If it is then you will find the application in your Applications folder.
Normally, the applicaton launches automatically after it is downloaded. You would have to click on the Install button in order to start the upgrade.

  • Trouble downloading Mountain Lion

I am running OS 10.6.8 and need to download Keynote onto my machine. I tried to do this and was told that I needed OS 10.7 in order to run it. I then tried to download Mountain Lion onto my machine. Im currently running OS 10.6.8 on an imac. i purchased it in the app store and when I try to download it it tells me it cant be downloaded, check your internet connection. My internet is fine and i cant seem to solve the problem. can you help please

First, look under the Purchases tab in the Mac App Store - do you see Mountain Lion listed? If so, try downloading it again.
If you find that you absolutely cannot download your Purchase of Mountain Lion, get in touch with the Mac App Store Support team -> http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/.
    Good luck,
    Clinton
EDIT: You may need to restart your computer before you try the above.

  • Anyone having trouble downloading Mountain Lion?

I've been trying to download Mountain Lion via the App Store and after I click "buy" all I get is a message saying "The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed."
    Anyone else experiencing this?

Are you on 10.8.2 as ypur profile says? If so, it's worth updating to 10.8.3 which was released last week.

Here's a link to some suggestions that helped some users with similar problems in Lion. May still be relevant to MLion. Also check the links within the article:

Also when I had wifi problems in the past, creating a new network location resolved it:

I've also seen threads where users with wifi problems have successfully solved them by changing the channel in the router's wifi settings.

  • Trouble downloading Mountain Lion from the App Store

    Hi!
I am currently running snow leopard 10.6.8.  I have updated all of my software, run time machine, and backblaze.  I have purchased Mountain Lion through the App Store, but have tried to download it three times without success.  I get a pop up window about 3/4 of the way through the download that says "download failed" , check our internet connection.  I have checked it in the Systems Preferneces and I have green buttons on both the ethernet and wireless connections.
Any suggestions for how I can successfully download and install Mountain Lion?
    Thanks!
    Kim

It won't mess up your computer.
What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode?
Of course, you have backups. Right?

You must have a minimum of OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8 installed on your Mac to have the Mac App Store. The Quick Links are on the Featured pane.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
Mountain Lion is a 64-bit operating system, and an Intel Core Duo processor is only 32-bit, so you can't use Mountain Lion on your Mac. You can keep using your actual OS X version or buy a new Mac if you want Mountain Lion

  • HT4854 Unable to download Mountain Lion because it takes too long....

So far am unable to download Mountain Lion because it's taking so long that my computer goes to sleep then it stops downloading and I have to start all over.  Says it takes 9 hours to download.  This makes it almost impossible to get the product downloaded.   I'm very frustrated and would like to either be able to get it done or get my money back.
    Any suggestions?  Thanks.

You need to go to Energy Preferences and set computer to
never sleep until you finish your download.  Then you can
    re-enable it.
BTW, since it takes that much time to download, when the
download completes and the install dialog comes up, cancel
the install and save the installer app to a safe place (USP memory
stick, external drive, etc.) so you don't need to download again
    in the future.
After you have save it, then you can run the installer by just
double clicking the app in Applications.

  • I was using OS Snow Leopard and on 8/1/13 I downloaded Mountain Lion and found out it was not compatible with my HP printer (HP photosmart C5580) so I called Apple and asked how to get Mountain Lion off and Snow Leopard back on.  The Tech told me to

I was using OS Snow Leopard and on 8/1/13 I downloaded Mountain Lion.  Then I found out it was not compatible with my HP Printer (HP Photosmart C5580 all-in-one) so I called Apple support and the tech told me to erase the hard drive instead of going in the time machine.  Well I did that and then it took about three hours three days a week for about three weeks on the phone with an apple tech to get all my stuff back on my computer.  I have had trouble with my printer (won't do the scan anymore and wasn't printing on my DVDs.  Also the computer keeps freezing up when it is in the sleep mode, etc.
When I tried to list my problem on this forum it lists your OS at the bottom and mine had Mountain Lion listed as what I was using so apparently it didn't erase it.  Want to know how to get Mountain Lion off and put my Snow Leopard on so things start working right.

Go to the  menu/About This Mac - what OS version shows there?
Do a backup, preferably 2 separate ones on 2 separate drives.
Revert to a Previous OS X
    Revert to Snow Leopard
If you do revert, I'd use Setup Assistant to restore your data. This process takes a while, so do it when you won't need the computer for several hours, based on my experience.

  • How do I download Mountain Lion?

I am currently running Leopard (OS X 10.5.8) and am having trouble finding where do download Mountain Lion.  The website says to download from the Mac App Store, but I don't have that.  How do I download Mountain Lion?

because I want to be able to create a bootable thumb drive.
Unfortunately, you can't do that with the App Store version. As mentioned, that version of ML will not work with your Mac as it will not contain the necessary hardware drivers. The App Store version is intended only for users upgrading from Snow Leopard or Lion.
You really can't make fully restorable boot copy of Mountain Lion. The Recovery Disk Assistant Csound1 linked to is as close as you can get. What you end up with is a bootable disk that behaves exactly the same as the Recovery partition. It's still not a full copy of the OS. Most of it will have to download from Apple's servers.
The only way to have a fully restorable copy of ML is to clone the entire drive to an external drive and leave it alone. Boot to that drive only when necessary to restore it to a hard drive you've replaced in your Mac, or as another drive to boot to when their's trouble with the main drive.

  • I can't download mountain lion, I get the following message "could not complete your purchase, can't verify the file, it may be damaged or unsigned" ? what do i have to do ?

I can't download mountain lion, I get the following message "could not complete your purchase, can't verify the file, it may be damaged or unsigned" ? what do i have to do ?

The only thing that worked for me was to boot in safe mode.
Power down.  Then press power button and hold 'shift' key until grey screen with progress bar appears... Once booted and logged in just open safari and browse to applestore.
No trouble at all once I did this.
Reminder: create full backup before you upgrade OS
    Hope it helps.
