HT4858 photo stream limit reached

We recently moved our iPhoto library to a different Mac (old one's hard drive failed and it was time for it to go), and ever since then, our IOS devices say Photo Stream reached and we can't do anything on the devices (3 iphone 5's; 2 Ipad 3's and 1 Ipad mini).  I had to shut down each device and turn off photo strea to be able to use the devices, so now I can's use photo stream, which is a bummer.  Any ideas?

Did you enable this checkbox in iPhoto's Photo Stream  preference pane?
If you did that your iPhoto library uploaded the maximum photos that can be added to the PS.
Uncheck that box, go into Photo Stream in iPhoto, select those photos you don't want in the PS, Control (right)-click and choose Delete from Photo Stream.
That will drop you below the 1000 limit.  This Apple document discribes the limits of PS: iCloud: Photo Stream limits

I am getting the "photo stream limit reached" about 50 times a day and now both my iPad and iPhone are useless because of this.  I cannot make the message go away!  Please help.

This may have been the source of the problem.   Any thoughts anyone?

  • HT4858 Photo stream limit

My photo stream auto deletes old photos after a 1,000 limit, but it says here that it is suppose to be 10,000. Is there somewhere to change the settings?

Read this Apple Support official write up about iCloud  photo streams at the URL below...
Basically, you can have 1000 photos in EACH photo stream  !... and you can create up to 100 shared photo streams, in addition to the 1 default non-sharable photo stream they give you titled "My Photo Stream".
So really, you can store up to 101,000 photos , for free, in icloud.
As long as you never add more than 1000 photos in any one stream you will never lose any photos. They will always be stored for free in icloud, and you can always access them any time, either from a mac/pc browser or ios device (iphone/ipod/ipad).
If.... you do add more than 1000 photos to a photo stream, icloud only keeps the most recent 1000 and begins deleting the oldest photos in the stream to make room for new ones.... always keeping a 1000 cap on each photo stream.
So.... there are 3 things to remember if you never want to lose any photos and never have to keep your own physical backup :
    1. Always move photos out of your  "My Photo Stream" into shared photo streams (which you actually don't have to share with anyone if you don't want to), before it reaches 1000.
    2. Never put more than 1000 photos in a shared photo stream.
    3. If you ever get to the maximum 100 shared photo streams and have filled each of those 100 photo streams with 1000 photos AND you have your "My Photo Stream" filled up with 1000 photos.....then you have reached the 101,000 max for free icloud photo storage.   At that point you can either delete old photos to make room for new ones.... or begin emailing photos to yourself and start using your email as a cloud based archive for your photos, and delete from photo streams after you have emailed yourself a copy (if you really want to stay away from getting involved with yet another cloud service product outside of Apple iCloud)
The likely reality is.... by the time you get anywhere close to the 101,000 limit....Apple will have already evolved the photo stream service to something we cannot yet imagine that will make the worry of hitting the 101,000 cap a mute thought anyway :)

  • Photo Stream Limit Reached, Uploading will resume on ...

Purchased a large iCloud Storage so I could keep all my photos together, 500GB and completely uploaded all 250GB of images.
Photos seems to indicate that all the images are updated correctly but i still keep getting this message every day
Can I tell what images are not uploading, any progress, any indication if this is an erroneous message or means something?

see the document Old Toad linked to:
My Photo Stream and iCloud Photo Sharing limits - Apple Support
He is right, the error message must be caused by the monthly upload limit.
Uploads to My Photo Stream per hour: 1000 photos
Uploads to My Photo Stream per day: 10,000 photos
Uploads to My Photo Stream per month: 25,000 photos
If you exceed one of these limits, your uploads to My Photo Stream will pause temporarily, and you might see a notification on your device. Your uploads will resume automatically when you no longer exceed the limit, such as in the following hour or on the following day.
The warning message you are receiving is for My Photo Stream - and My Photo Stream is independent of the iCloud Storage you purchased. If a device takes a photo and adds it to My Photo stream, or you add photos to a photo library on a Mac, that will upload to other devices using My Photo stream, the upload will stop, if you reached a limit of 25,000 uploaded photos per month.
The total of photos in My Photo Stream can be much less - iCloud does not store more than 1000 photos in My Photo Stream anyway, but if you upload frequently from several devices, you may hit this monthly limit.

  • Photo Stream Limit Reached "Your photos will begin uploading again in one day"

I have started getting the error above on my iPhone 4S in the past week.  The error message will not go away.

I tried tjakab's tip and it didn't work for me.
Anyone else have this problem?  It's anoying because I can't use my phone until I select 'OK' to each message, ussually about 40 of them in a row.

  • HT201077 Shared Photo Stream Limit reported incorrectly

When trying to create a new shared photo stream, on-screen message says I have reached my limit of 100. I actually have around 50 and don't want to eliminate one to make room for a new one. iPhoto 9.4.3, Mavericks.

i suggest to upgrade to iPhoto 9.5.1. There was a very short time, when iCloud supported only 50 Shared Streams in iPhoto and Aperture. I don't remember, in which version this changed back to 100 Shared Photo Streams, either 9.4.5, or 9.5.1, but updating should fix your problem.

  • Cannot create another shared photo stream - 50 shared photo stream limit?

Hi - I'm getting this error message when trying to create a new photo stream in Aperture:
I've deleted a few photo streams and I'm still getting the error.
Also, when I look at the Photo Stream Limits Apple posted I don't see any mention of this limitation.  What am I missing?

I can confirm the problem: The same message, as soon as I try to add stream no. 51.
But for me it works to delete one of the streams. I could replace it by a new stream without problems.
    I tried this with MacOS X 10.8.4 and 10.8.5, Aperture 3.4.5.
The limit seems to be 50 streams.
I've deleted a few photo streams and I'm still getting the error.
Have you waited for the deletion to be synced with iCloud? Or you may have hit another limit. For me the replacing of Photo streams is working well, but the limit of 50 streams is disappointing.

  • Lessen photo stream limit

I seem to keep on running out of storage on my iPhone. I just want to know if there is a way to lesson the amount of pictures on my photo stream. For example it is currently at 1000 pictures, but I want the limit to only be 500.

This may have been the source of the problem.   Any thoughts anyone?

  • HT4858 1000 photos I have not taken! Photostream limit reached = Not!

Photo Stream limit reached message blocking my iphone and ipad, please fix it.
The only fix I have is to power off the devices.

  • My iPad will not sync photo stream from iPhone

My iPad ios7 will not sync my photo stream. It only received 1/4 of my photos. My iPhone ios6 has the correct photo stream. Tried Turing off photo stream on iPad, afraid to turn off photo stream on iPhone as I may lose data. I know the photo stream limit is 1000 so I keep it at 900. iPad is fully updated. iPhone all apps are fully updated. Same Apple ID is signed in across 2 devices for iCloud. Both are backed up on same wifi. Loading iTunes just to back up photo stream seems silly but maybe forced to.     Thank you.

    Check this out - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4486.
How long are My Photo Stream photos stored in iCloud?
The photos you upload to My Photo Stream are stored in iCloud for 30 days to give your devices plenty of time to connect and download them.

  • HT201317 All the photos dowloaded to the photo stream in my mac, will it be saved forever or does it get deleted after reaching 1000 limit ?

All the photos dowloaded to the photo stream in my mac, will it be saved forever or does it get deleted after reaching 1000 limit ?

Photo stream photos will be deleted once you reach 1,000 unless you import them into iPhoto. You can set your iPhoto preferences to import them automatically.

  • HT4858: Why my Photo Stream is still 1k limit on iOS6?

I read http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4858 and found there is no limit on the total number of photo on My Photo Stream and My Photo Stream Sharing.
But max number of my Photo Stream is still 1000 as before.
So, how to solve this problem without upgrade? THANKS!    (found many friends' iPhone4 is slow on iOS7 so I do wanna keep iOS6)

iCloud still maintains a rolling collection of your most recent 1000 my photo stream photos on an iOS device, as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4486.  The article you referenced says there is an unliminted number of photos you can upload to my photo stream over time.
The limit on a shared photo stream is 5000 photos, as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5903.  The only change with iOS 7 is you can now included videos (now called "shared streams"), but the limit is still 5000 photos and videos combined.

  • HT4858 How do I limit a photo from being shared on photo stream (using as screen saver on Apple TV, but don't want family photos shared in presentation)

I am attempting to use my Apple TV and Ipad for a public presentation and want to show business pictures on the screen saver, but I don't want personal family pictures shown. Is there a way to limit these photos or set up an album for the screen saver on the presentation?

Put the photos that you wish to use for your presentation or screensaver into a photo stream shared album and then choose that album as your screensaver in your screensaver settings.

  • Hitting Max Limit on Share Photo Streams - Bug or Feature?

I am using the Aperture to create Shared Photo Streams.
Everything has been working well except that as I cannot seem to share more than 1390 photos.  I am doing so across 20 or so Photo Streams.
When I try and share, say, 100 photos to a new Photo Stream, the system only shares up to the 1390 limit and then silently does not share the rest.
Is there a maximum number of photos that can be shared?
    Thanks,
    Robert

There is no limit but you can only upload up to 1,000 photos per hour and up to 10,000 photos per day.
