HT4859 Does iCloud restore app data?

When I backup an iOS 5.1.1 device with iCloud and I restore it will I get my app data back( such as a game highscore)?

Only for those apps that you turned on in Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>manage Storage, tap your device in the Backups section, then look under Backup options.  (All this on the device whose backup you want to configure.)

You need to subscribe to iTunes Match to store your music on iCloud:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/
To transfer iTunes Store purchases made on your phone to your computer, connect your phone then choose "Transfer purchases..." from the File menu in iTunes.
Photostream transfers photos taken on your iOS devices to other devices and your computer. For troubleshooting Photostream see: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3989

  • Restore app data

I have Ipod Touch 5th Gen with IOS7. iCloud is my backup. Is there a way I can restore app data to a single app rather then reset and restore the device completely.

    Unfortunately not.

  • Yesterday double clicked home button and all of my apps disappeared; cannot shut off i-pad, and syncing it does not restore apps or enable me to use it again. Help!

    See if this fixes things.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Does icloud support app updates?

Got an app called Thumb on my iPod.
Logged into iTunes and downloaded the app via desktop pc
Went to the app store on my iPod touch 4th generation and it still says the SAME thumb update is available to download.
Have I done something wrong? Does iCloud support app updates?

or do i need to connect to computer and iTunes ?
Just tap the App Store icon your iPhone then tap Updates at the bottom of the screen. No need to sync using iTunes now that you have iCloud enabled.

  • Does icloud backup app folders?

So i have a lot of apps for many reasons. But i was wondering, since i have at least 15 folders filled with apps, does icloud back all this data up? so when i restore my apps and icloud backup, everything was as before? or do i have to re-arrange all apps yet once again to get them how they previuosly were...

The apps listed under Documents & Data are apps that are storing their data in your iCloud account (called "Documents in the Cloud").  These apps are syncing their data with iCloud so that you can share the data across multiple devices sharing the same iCloud account, such as saving a Pages document on your iPhone, then editing the same document on your iPad.  This is separate from your backup.  You won't see any evidence that the app data is being backed up, either on your phone or on icloud.com, beyond the fact that you can see that your turned the app to On under Backup Options.  If it's turned on there, the app data will be included in your next iCloud backup, and will be restored to your phone should you ever need to restore your iCloud backup.

  • Does iCloud restore game saves?

I'm having a few problems with Game Centre. It doesn't stay logged in for very long, which is annoying, and games like Cut the Rope Experiments keep crashing back to the home screen.
Also, frustratingly, my laptop won't back up my iPhone.
If I back up my iPhone to iCloud right now, restore my iPhone to factory settings, and then restore from iCloud, will I get my game saves back too?
    Thanks.

    1. Yes icloud will restore data and the passcode - completely useless for results
    2. No you can't get around.
Your 14 years old may have used some logical number and that is your only hope, cause the only difference between those pass codes,  with restrictions you
have unlimited amount of attempts as far as I know.
Loading apps from purchased does not save data. It is like brand new app.

  • ICloud restore Apps download while in waiting mode then disappear after

    Hi All,
When I restore my iPhone 4 from the iCloud backup, I get prompted to key in a new passcode for the phone, Facetime password, iMessage password, and my email passwords but I do not get prompted for my AppStore password.
My apps stay in "Waiting..." mode and they start downloading at that state. The moment the download completes, all the waiting apps turn white and flash (disappear and appear) and the downloaded app disappears forever (icons have shifted as if they app was deleted).
I have tried this about 7 times already and at every single attempt, I was not prompted for my AppStore password (I'm guessing the restored apps do not get authenticated/verified so they just get dumped after download).
I then tried a few more restores and thought of ways that would "interrupt" this instant download of apps (in Waiting... state). I tried shutting the phone off after I keyed in all my passwords (I have about 5 email accounts). Upon starting back up the phone, it will go on with the automatic download without asking me for my AppStore password.
I decided to try to interrupt the sequence further (in another restore attempt) but continously tapping on an application in the Waiting... state (similar to how you would pause/unpause a new app download/update). This eventually caused the AppStore login prompt. After which, one of the apps now hit Loading... state and downloading it completely will install it. All the relevant data is restored.
Now the issue is that despite being able to do this, I still lose 1 or 2 apps (one before I shutdown and before I can hammer an app enough to make it pop up the AppStore login screen). Is there some sort of delay issue with regards to the iCloud restore process? Is it possible to get the phone to prompt me for my AppStore password immediately after a restore?
I'm not sure if this is due to my iCloud backup being corrupted (upon initial restore the phone reboots and does the loading graphics and then to the apple then get stuck in the spinning icon for a while). I dont know how much more I can describe what I'm experiencing but I will gladly provide more information.

    OK...
Here's what I did to get around this problem, a slight modification of a fix for another issue...
All you need to do is Settings->General->International->Languages–>Change to British English
This will cause the Springboard to soft reset and the stuck apps will automatically resume and download themselves! Or not, in which case you can follow the steps below.
Now (very important) after perfomimng step one again, quickly go to the app that you are stuck on, move it out of its folder if necessary, to get at it more easily. Press and hold to bring up the 'x' then tap to delete. Note: You will only have few seconds, maybe 2 or 3 before the springboard finishes its refresh and the resume download kicks back in on the stuck app. Once it gets to resume restore mode, you will be unable to delete the stuck app. The rest of your apps should continue to download normally now, once the offending app is deleted. You can easily re-download that app later, once the others have finished restoring.
You can now change the language back to US English or whatever (I'm going to leave mine in the Queens English)
    Cheers! Hope this helps someone.

  • Backing up and restoring app data of an App World (BlackBerry World) app

I'd like to do a security wipe on my old Bold 9700 and then reinstall/restore an App World (BlackBerry World) app that I purchased with the same BlackBerry ID.
    1. Can I reinstall an app via App World after a security wipe?
    2. WIll the app data (e.g. game scores) be restored?
    3. I did a full back up with BDS7, if reinstalling the app on a security wiped phone does not reinstate the app data, can I retrieve the app data by restoring the app from the backup?
    4. What about copying the .rem files of the App World folder of the app to my computer, reinstalling the app via App World and then copying the .rem files back to the Blackberry? Or is there another location I should look for the app data?
    Thank you in advance.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
To re-install your apps, please see this KB:

That I'm not sure of...it likely depends on how the scores are stored. If they are stored on the device, then it might be able to re-obtain that information after you reinstall the app. Likewise, if they are stored on some server somewhere, it might be able to do so. But there's really no way for anyone but the app developer to know for sure. If I were you, I'd prepare myself for those being lost as a result of this activity.

Maybe -- again, it depends on how the app works, which only the app developer can say. Some apps store data in AppMemory (which is what gets backed up), others store their data in Device or Media Card Memory (which is not necessarily backed up). And it may well be moot anyway, depending on how the developer coded the app.

Same issue...it all depends on how the developer coded the app. If the coded it to ignore any stored data anywhere each time the app is installed, then you can't force it to read anything, regardless of where you might restore it to. But, again, only the developer of the app can tell you what will happen in these circumstances.
    Cheers!

im getting a iphone 5s when it comes out too si im just curious and i dont want to go to my carrier (sprint)

  • Does iCloud save my data more than once when i back it up?

I only have about 75 contacts and 165 pictures, which is the only thing I have on iCloud and the only thing I want to have saved. My iCloud keeps telling me that my storage is full but theres barley anything in it? It's a 5GB but still it shouldn't be full and I can't find my photos on iCloud

Apple states that it keeps up to 3 backups.  Your camera roll photos are stored in your backup, but can't be viewed unless you restore the backup to your phone.  You may have other data taking up the space in your account, such as email, app data, the data you sync with your iCloud account (contacts, calendars, reminders, notes, etc.), etc.
This guide gives you options for managing and reducing the amount of data you have stored in your iCloud account:  http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4847.

  • Recover iCloud backup app data

    Hi,
A while ago, I bought the app Stash to store and lock some data on an older Apple ID account.  Unfortunately, my iPhone 4 was stolen, and I lost access to that older Apple ID account.  Before it was stolen, I'd used a friend's iCloud account to make a backup, and this backup has the app data for Stash (mostly up to date; not much more was added into the app before my phone was stolen).  I have a new iPhone 5S now, but the problem is, I can't access the old app data.  The app data will not sync onto my new iPhone, since the app was bought on an account I no longer have access to.
I've tried a method on my new iPhone with the free version of the Stash app.  By backing up to iTunes (making a local backup), I can use iBackup Viewer to extract all the data from the Stash app (so, honestly, it's not a very good app).  I tried restoring my 5S to my iPhone 4's backup, but the app data for Stash won't sync, so I can't use that method.
My question is: is there any way I can get that data back from an iCloud backup, either by downloading it from iCloud, or trying to get the backup on my new phone (maybe I hadn't done it properly?) ?  I feel like I should be able to- it is my data, after all - but sometimes this "advanced" cloud technology feels pretty dumb.
    Thanks for you help

You have to setup your phone as new and restore from iCloud using the Apple ID with the iCloud backup. Then use a toold like iFunBox to extract the app data your need. Then again restore your phone as new using your primary account and paste the data back manually using iFunBox.

  • HT4859 Does iCloud backup messages

Does iCloud back messages automatically inside the 5 gb

If you are backing up your phone to iCloud the backup will include your messages along with other data and settings.  You won't be able to see or access these messages separately; they can only be restored to your phone along with the other data and settings stored in the backup.  Also, the backup does count against your free 5 GB of iCloud space.

  • How to restore app data?

Can anybody tell me, whether / how I can restore the data / configuration of an iPhone app (on the 3GS)?
More specifically, I've got a shopping app (ShopShop) on my iPhone.
I have carefully created a long shopping list.
    Accidentally, it is now deranged.
So I'd like to restore the state.
Is there any way to do it?
(I am familiar with Unix, so a bunch of Terminal commands would be fine.)
    Best regards,
    Gabriel.

3rd party data is stored in the backup, so one way would be restoring from a backup, if you're using Time Machine it should be no problem, but you can't select just on app to restore, it's all or nothing.
Another way would be using this software here http://supercrazyawesome.com/ and see what you can do.

  • HT4859 Faulty iCloud Restore, faulty iPhoto-itunes-iphone sync, how to restore iphone photos?

I just updated my iphone from IOS 6.0.1 to IOS 6.0.3 because my internet tethering could not work, but now Icloud is faulty and does not restore my photos, and yet is taking up 4GB of space... Anyone knows how I can download my photos?
Additionally my iTunes no longer have the 'photo's section so i could not sync my iphoto's photo into my iphone. So my iphone is left with 100 photos from the photo stream( Which i am unsure where it came from).
Thank you so much for taking the time to read and help me.

iPhoto should have prompted you after it finished the import, asking if you want to delete. It does in mine -- version 9.5.1
One way to quickly delete the photos still on your phone is to connect the phone to your Mac and open Image Capture. It allows you to select and delete photos from the camera roll without importing them via Image Capture.
