HT4859 How to get the photos and videos backed up on iCloud to import.
I had not sync my phone prior to them replacing my phone but the Mac Genius said I was not going to lose any of the stuff on my phone because I had used iCloud. I was able to successfully back up all my files but am unable to import the new photos and videos that I had not previously sync to my computer. Am I missing something? I am getting an error message and the items I want to import appear to be blank in iPhoto.

Connect your iPhone to your computer. Tp your pc should recognize your iPhone as a camera. Use what ever application you have on the pc to transfer files from a camera to your computer.

I downloaded the new itunes. So, i plugged in my 5th generation ipod and when i plugged it in, it asked me if i want to set it as new ipod or back up from the 2nd generation ipod touch that i plugged in before, i accidently clicked on the back up from before so it when its done, it looked like my 2nd gen. ipod and i dont like it. All my photos and videos from 5th gen. Ipod were all gone and there are some pictures that i really need as soon as possible. Is there a way i can i can get those photos and videos back? I really need them. :(

We don't know how to answer because we don't know what you are doing.
I can tell you that you cannot connect the two devices together to transfer content. And videos do not work in Photo Stream, but it does work for photos. However, you can only stream photos to the device after you have enabled photo stream on the iPad. Any photos that were already on the phone - before you turned on Photo Stream -will not sync to the iPad.

I plugged in my phone to update to the latest software. After a while, I went back to the PC and it said there had been a problem and that I needed to restore the factory settings.
I am worried that I will lose all the photos and videos that I have on the phone. How do I get them off.
When I now plug the phone it the screen looks like when you first get it - i.e. itunes logo and asking me to plug in.If the device has been used as designed, the pics and via taken with the device would have regularly been copied off to a computer.
The first step in the update process via iTunes on the computer is a backup.
Restore the device from the most recent backup.
If data is lost, then it is merely the fault of the user for not backing up the device or saving their data regularly.
Once the device is in recovery mode, the ONLY option is to restore. -

If you don't physically have the phone then there is no way for you to get the photos or videos.
Have you been backing up your phone? http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766 if so, you can restore that backup to your new phone and get all your contents back.

Correct. When you update via iTunes all synced media that is not in your iTunes library will be lost.

How can I access photos and videos saved to the iCloud? I backed up my iphone to the Cloud but now the files are nowhere to be found.
I had to reset all content and settings in order to troubleshoot an issue. Before I did this, I backed up the iphone to icloud. When I reprogrammed the phone, I had to set it up as a new device and individually sync apps and other items from itunes. But by doing this, I somehow lost some videos and can't seem to find where they would have been saved/backed up. Can anyone offer any guidance?You can't view photos and videos on icloud (except for shared photo stream pics). iCloud merely sync photos between devices using the stream. If you don't have photo stream turned on, then the only place photos in the camera roll are located are in a backup. You would have to restore from the backup. But be warned that many users have ended up losing their photos when performing a restore, for whatever reason.
What you should do in the future is always sync photos/videos to a computer for storage, don't leave them on a device or trust icloud to somehow store them. -

I have an iTunes account on my computer but cannot seem to save my photos or videos on that account from my iPad 2. They seem to save to my documents on the home computer. How do I save the photos and videos on my iPad to my home iTunes account?
Welcome to the Apple Community.
To begin with, I would like to try to explain Apple's confusing nomenclature in regard to iCloud.
Apple have called the whole cloud thing iCloud, there are a number of features under the iCloud umbrella, some of which require their own login. iTunes is one of these, another is what Apple have unfortunately also called iCloud.
You can use the same Apple ID (account) to login to both iCloud and iTunes, but you don't need to and often users will login to each service using a different ID.
The part that you need to remember is that the services available when you log into iCloud are completely different and unrelated to those when you log in to iTunes. Your iCloud login enables mail, contacts, calendars, find my phone, Back to My Mac, Documents & Data sharing and photosstream, it does not affect any of your iTunes services.
To avoid confusion when discussing your problem, when I mention iCloud, I am referring to the services under the iCloud login, Whereas I will refer to the whole cloud thing as The Cloud.
Pin order to share photos using photostream you need to log into the same iCloud account on both devices, videos are not included in photostream, but other third party apps such as Dropbox and video stream for iCloud can share video between your devices. -
my iphone 5 has been destroyed and wont work or even charge but i was wondering how i could get the pictures and videos off of it to my iphone 4?
Connect the 5 to a computer and see if it is recognized. If so copy the pictures from phone. If not, you are out of luck.

I've updated the software on my Macbook to the most recent version; regretting it now; and iPhoto has now become the Photo's app.
The problem is I can no longer back up my photo and video files taken on my phone, saved to my mac, by copying them and saving them on a USB stick or other external hard drive.
I could easily do this with iPhoto, but now Photos app does not let me copy the files when I select them.
Does anyone know if there's a way to save, copy or back-up my photo's and video files: prefreably one that doesn't involve iCloud, as I don't feel like paying for more storage; there must be some way to access those photos/videos from my iPhone to save on another source?The problem is I can no longer back up my photo and video files taken on my phone, saved to my mac, by copying them and saving them on a USB stick or other external hard drive.
Select the photos and videos in Photos and use the command "File > Export" and select a folder on your USB stick to save the photos to.
