That's how it is supposed to work.
Older photos will need to be transferred manually using a sync cable.

Hello, I wanted to clear out my photo stream folder on my macbook pro, so I copied all the photos to a permanent folder. I then deleted all the photos in my photo stream folder. The photos in my backup folder were automatically deleted and I want them retrieved. They are not in my trash and I can't find them. Are photos autmatically backed up in my phots? How can I retrieve the deleted photos? Please help. Thanks.
You can't currently delete individual photos but you can reset
Step 1: Login to your iCloud account on iCloud.com from a Mac or PC.
Step 2: Click on your name at the top right of the main iCloud page.
Step 3: Click on the Advanced option.
Step 4: Click “Reset Photo Stream.” You will then need to confirm.
Step 5: This Photo Stream reset will not go into effect until you toggle Photo Stream on and off on your devices. In iOS, Photo Stream can be turned off and on in the iCloud settings window of the Settings app. -
I recently lost my iphone and I know I had set up Photo Stream on my iphone, but I logged into icloud today and realized that I had not set it up on my computer. If I set it up now, will the historical photos stored on the phone appear?
100%
That is if email you r talking about was icloud mail. Go to www.icloud.com and sign in - you will see your emails. -
How do I set up photo stream?
In iphoto, when going into Preferences, there is only a tab for Mobile Me. I do not see a Photostream tab.
How do set up Photostream, now that mobile me no longer exists?
I have upgraded to Lion already, and I use icloud often for my mail, calendar, etc. but can't seem to get Photostream to show up in iPhoto or in icloud.I quote:
Set up Photo Stream on a Mac to work with iPhoto
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click iCloud.
Select the Photo Stream checkbox.
Open iPhoto (in your Applications folder).
Select Photo Stream in the Source list on the left.
Click Turn On Photo Stream (on the right).
By default, iPhoto automatically imports all Photo Stream photos into your library so you can keep them permanently, and automatically uploads every photo you import to your Photo Stream.
(The Forum software has munged the layout a bit, but you get the idea.) Please see the Apple Help page this comes from for more information:

How can I set up Photo Stream with OSX 10.7.5 and iPhoto '09?
I am trying to set up Photo Stream and I would like to know what I need to do. I am running OSX 10.7.5 and iPhoto '09. Thanks
You need to have 10.7.5 Lion for the basic iCloud or 10.8 Mountain Lion or 10.9 Mavericks for the full iCloud. While 10.7.5 Lion will allow you to access iCloud you will be limited unless you can upgrade to 10.8 Mountain Lion or 10.9 Mavericks.
This is from Apple Support:
Minimum operating system requirements
You may also use iCloud with the following operating system versions:
Mac
OS X Lion v10.7.5 or later*
Note: Although you can use OS X Lion as noted above, you will not
be able to take advantage of some iCloud features, such as Shared Photo Streams, iCloud Tabs, Find My iPhone Lost Mode, Documents in the Cloud for iWork, and Find My Friends location-based alerts. -
Setting up photo stream win 7 pro
I cant set up photo stream on my Windows 7 Pro.
I dont see in Control Panel "Network and Internet".
And I dont see anythng that mentions ICloud.
Please advise. The restore/recovery kit is always the same, it's the initial load of software and drivers to get it back to like new, it is never updated with new components. So if you make the Recovery set now or later it's exactly the same, I recommend making it now.

HT201317 Can I upload pictures that were taken before I set up photo stream?
I just set up icloud on my PC and turned on photo stream on my iphone 4s. I have pictures already on my phone that I want to download onto my PC. Is there a way to upload these photos on my PC (since they were taken before I set up photo stream)?
Restore from backup (that you did with the old iPhone) to your new iPhone.

When you back up your Iphone/Ipad it backs up your camera roll. but when you take pictures and it uses photo stream, does that mean there are two copy's of your photos on icloud one set for photo stream and one set for backups?
What do you mean by storage quota, does that mean i could be photo streaming about 1gb of photos and it does not get taken away from my free 5bg.

We had to replace my husbands iphone. Everything but our photos have transferred to the new phone. I made sure that the new device is showing up in find my iphone. I have turned on photo stream on all devices. Why aren't they streaming to new phone?
Only photos taken in the last 30 days are transferred using Photo Stream.

i lost my iphone and had it backed up to icloud and photo stream but i never plugged it into a computer since i had set up photo stream. is there a way to login to any mac device to view my photos or anything?
Welcome to the Apple Community.
Yes you should be able to log into iCloud on a Mac from system preferences > iCloud and set up photostream to download any photos that are there. You should also be able to use your iCloud back up to restore any replacement phone to reflect the phone you lost. -
Yesterday I changed my email password on my home computer. Today, I can't get any new emails on my Samsung Galaxy 4; I deleted the email account entirely and tried to set it up again as a new account, using the new password, but it keeps giving me an error message that reads: Cannot safely connect to server. The new password is working on my home computer. I even tried the old password; it just gave me the same error message.
I'm sorry you're having issues with your e-mail account on your phone Rusty1112. Let's figure out what's going on. First, please try deleting account/information again and then restart phone. When phone is back on, try adding e-mail account again, and be sure you're entering exactly as you set up, meaning its case-sensitive. If you're still getting same error, please let us know and let us know what e-mail account it is, Yahoo, AOL, MSN, etc.
Thank you,

I shared a photo stream of 174 pictures but only 20 are showing up in the folder that was sent out. Any solutions?
Help much appreciated!Upload to the shared Photo Streams can take a long time. Sometimes hours. Did the photos appear by now in the stream?
Is the iCloud status o.k. ( iCloud Support webpage)?
Did you share from your mac or from a mobile device? And where are you checking the stream? On your Mac? If you are uploading from a mobile device - is the battery fully charged? Uploading to the Photo Stream is the first that will be suspended, if the device needs charging.
have ypu exceeded any limits? Daily hourly upload rates? http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4858

I accidentally grabed my My Photo Stream from My Pictures & transfered it to a FOB. I put it back as soon as I realized. Now I can't view any of the pictures from my phone & I cant up load any. How do I fix this?
Thanks, Eric. I'm not sure what I should be checking using your suggestion--as I said, I'm an utter novice with the iMac. However, I saw a reference to problems with the Library entries, so I checked mine and the iWork files were missing, something confirmed when I checked the crash log. In desperation, I did another software update, and that seems to have fixed the problem completely. Now wondering if I dare upgrade to Lion!
