What I mean is still track my stolen one. I don't know if this will make sense to you but I'm thinking that if I restore the back up data on this phone..on my stolen phone it will like forget the icloud account or something and think this phone is the stolen one so when I go to track the stolen one, it will show that phone as the one I have now because I restored the back up from that phone.

You're iPhone was probably set to automatically sync with your iTunes upon plugging it in. Best option is to restore from a backup, either on iCloud or your computer.

Problem: Now my new macbook air thinks it is the old machine and that the remote disc is the mb air. Clicks want to take things to mobile me instead of iCloud, old applications launch instead of the new ones. How do I fix the mess I have made? Have you copied your content over from your old computer and onto the new on ? If not, and you still have your old computer, then there a number of methods described on this page which you can use to copy your library over : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527 . If you no longer have your old computer then have you got a backup of your content that you can copy onto the new computer and add into iTunes ?

Since I logged in with my own ID, it's downloaded the data perfectly fine, but I just got the Apple ID prompt again a moment ago with this same hotmail address in it... I'd be very grateful for any explanation!

In iTunes on your computer, select the Purchased section under STORE in the left column. Click on the first track and choose "Get Info" from the "File" menu.
In the "Summary" tab you'll see details of the purchaser of the track. Click Next to go through all your purchased music one by one until you find the ones you need to get rid of.
Unfortunately, there are no smart playlist rules that can filter tracks by the purchaser that I know of.

Of course. If you don't need your old phone's backup, you can remove it. Open Settings > iCloud > Storage and Backup > Manage Storage, select the old device backup and delete it.
The new iPhone backup won't be deleted and you will keep everything on the new phone

How can i update my new iphone with the data from my old iphone?

I recently bought an iphone 3GS after my iphone 4 was stolen but when i try to sync the new phone it says the software is out of date. (when i was telling the guy at the apple store about my phone being stolen he said when you get a new phone just sync it to retrieve all the information stored on there. Is there any way i can retrieve the stuff from my old phone? I would like my messages, notes and apps from my old phone on my new one.

Just to make sure - You're saying you had backed up your iPhone 4. When you plug in the 3GS, and try to "restore" the data from the iPhone 4 backup onto the 3GS, you get that error? Check to see if the iOS version is up-to-date, and hopefully it isn't. It might also be because your iPhone 4 wasn't, and is causing some sort of problem.

You should use a computer with a reasonably current version of Windows (or Mac OS X for an Apple computer).
Load the current version of iTunes (free) which you can get at http://www.apple.com/itunes
Sync her old iPad using iTunes. Do that by opening iTunes and plugging her old iPad into the computer using the USB cable that came with the iPad.
Then plug the iPad 2 into the same iTunes and let it sync. One of the options (since you say it's new) will be to restore from the old iPad.

AAll of your iTunes purchases can be re-downloaded again. Log into iTunes Store, select the Purchases tab for Apps, Music, etc.
if you've been syncing your old iPod with iTunes, you can restore everything to your new iPod from the old backup.

Sync it to your iPad with iTunes. First check the app store to be sure it is compatible with an iPad (not all iPhone apps are). If it is, first confirm that the app is in your iTunes library by opening iTunes clicking on the apps folder, and checking if the app is there. If it isn't, add it to your library by connecting your phone to iTunes and go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases. Once it's in your library, connect your iPad, click on the name of your iPad in iTunes, go to the Apps tab of your iTunes sync settings, locate the app in question and click "Install" next to the app, then click on Apply at the bottom to sync your iPad.
