HT4859 my ipad is disabled but i don't have access to computer to connect to iTunes?

My ipad is disabled but I don't have access to computer to connect to iTunes .. what can I do ?

Nothing until you get back to the computer.  The device has to be put in recovery mode if using a different computer's itunes, that will delete everything from the device, leaving it as new.  But then you'd have to find a computer to do this with.

  • My iPad is disabled but I don't have access to the laptop it was originally synced with

I put my mini iPad in my suitcase next to the Bluetooth keyboard I use with it. Stupidly I didn't turn off either of the devices. At the other end of my journey I see that my iPad is disabled and I need to connect with iTunes Store.
I have read how to force iPad into recovery, but on all posts it says to connect to computer that originally synced the device. This was a work laptop that unfortunately I no longer have access too. And for information I haven't unlinked my iPhone or my iPad to that machine either :( although I can get someone to do this if necessary.
Can I somehow sign into iTunes using my new iMac and start from there, if so, how?
I'd be really grateful for advice.

    Thanks so much Diavonex.
    All sorted.
I did the recovery trick with an iMac which reset it and enabled me to unlock it.
Then I went into Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings
Which i did. Which then enabled me to set up my iPad from scratch and back up from the cloud.
Perfect - it is now exactly as it was before I lost access to it.
    I've very grateful.

You may have to do this several times.
Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.

  • I have an Ipad and Iphone but I don't have an Airprint, only a WIFI printer,my question is if I connect the wifi printer to Airport express, can I print from Ipad and Iphone ?

I have an Ipad and Iphone but I don't have an Airprint at home but only a WIFI printer, my question is if I connect the wifi printer to Airport express, can I print from Ipad and Iphone ? Please help me if anyone knows about this.

Unfortunately, connecting a non-AirPrint-enabled printer to an AirPort base station's USB port will not make it AirPrint-ready.
You will need to use another solution, like Printopia, to be able to print to this printer from an iOS device.

Hi, i had created a form on adobe forms central,  but i don't have access to the results now.  any help would be appreciated.

    Hi massif76198910,
I don't see that you had a paid FormsCentral account. Were you using the free account? If so, you should still have access to the form until FormsCentral is retired on July 28 2015,
Are you able to log in? Or do you get an error when you try to log in to your account? Please try clearing the browser cache, or logging in via a different browser.
    Best,

I'm trying to get access to a very old AppleID, but I don't have access to the email associated with the account anymore and it's saying my birthday is wrong.  Can someone help?!

If you can't get the account's password reset via http://appleid.aple.com then try contacting Support in your country, they should (after they've confirmed your id and that it's your account) be able to reset it for you.
Contacting Apple about account security : http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT5699
If your country isn't on that page then try this form and explain and see what they reply with : https://ssl.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html
After it's been reset change the primary email address on the account to be an address that you have access to : Change your Apple ID.
And check/correct the date of birth on the account (select the Password And Security section on the account on http://appleid.apple.com, answer the security questions, and on the next screen the DoB should show).

I bought my ipod 5 th gen wen it first came out lost it and don't remember the passcode and don't have access to computer I backed up to anymore how do I fix

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

  • HT1212 My iphone is disabled and I do not have access to computer. What do I do?

My iphone is disabled and I do not have access to a computer....what do I do?

One option if you have Find My iPhone turned on:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212
"If you are using Find My iPhone, you can use Remote Wipe to restore your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode."
This still requires access either to a computer or another iOS device.

  • My iPod Touch got disabled, but I don't have the computer that it's registered to anymore.

A young family member of mine decided to play with my iPod Touch and put a passcode on it.  After several wrong tries and a fruitless attempt to get the little dear to remember what she put, it's disabled now.  I no longer own a computer (I'm submitting this on my PC at work.  Don't tell.) and can't restore it in the usual way.  Plugging it into any other computer has proved useless as the passcode keeps it from syncing with anything but the original computer, which is in a recycling plant somewhere in California by now.  O mighty hive-mind, any ideas?

The passcode is very secure, and if you configured the iPod Touch to erase itself after ten consecutive incorrect attempts, its content has already been irretrievably erased. You will need to restore the iPod with another computer, not sync it as you have apparently been trying to accomplish. You will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.
Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect to your computer & click on the "Update your device using iTunes".
iPad Tip - You may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

  • Ipad is disabled. but i no longer have the laptop it is synced with

My friend were recently messing around on my ipad, which I was unaware of. They entered my passcode in wrong enough times to actually disable my ipad. The thing is however, I no lomnger have the laptop that I originally used to sync my ipad, and as such I cannot use it at the minute. Is there any way of been able to use it again?

You can only restore the iPad with a computer if it has been disabled due to the incorrect password being entered too many times. There is not other way to unlock it. You need to find someone with a computer that is running iTunes and you have to restore it from within iTunes. You can probably have the iPad restored at an Apple Store as well.
You are going to lose all of your content unless you can get your computer back and up and running again -  but you can download much of your purchased content again in iTunes and the app store.
