My notes just disappeared from my Iphone 4i. How do you restore notes from icloud?

If notes were synced to icloud they can be retreived from icloud.com website.
If notes were backed up to icloud that can be retrieved with restore of device.
Problem is that if notes were synced to icloud, you are very unlikely to lose those, and chances are you would not be here. Another problem is that notes are in most of the times aren't in backup. Notes normally backed up/synced by imap servers and in that case backup contains only such servers settings, but notes are downloaded later automatically after restore from back up.
I know all that sounds like blah blah blah, but here is summary
if notes are not in icloud.com - backup is probably useless and places to check would be notes folders of email accounts that were set up on the phone. Example - I have yahoo account and yahoo server syncs my notes. When I go to yahoo.com and login, there is folder - notepad - contains all my notes, I can copy, save and so on.

If you have a Mac that is signed into your account and you back it up with Time Machine, you can restore them using Time Machine. The photos should have been synced to a computer all along for archive. Many users have lost photos because they were unable to restore them from an iCloud backup. However, in your case, you could do a reset of the new 4S (Settings>General, scroll to bottom of screen...) and then perform a new installation, be sure to choose the most recent backup from iCloud. If they do not come back and you don't have them backed to a computer, then they're gone, unfortunately.

You and your wife are using the same ID for icloud - that is your problem. Using the same ID keeps all devices in sync. Delete something from one device and it goes from all devices. You should each use your own IDs (have two icloud accounts - but if sharing the same ID for the itunes store, you can keep that ID on each device for the store, not icloud).

Go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content and Settings. This will erase your phone. Then you will go through the setup screens again as you did when your phone is new, and when given the option, select Restore from iCloud Backup.
Changing accounts, creating new account -
If you already have another icloud account, and want to set it up on a device, then go to Settings>icloud, scroll to bottom of screen and tap Delete Account. This only disconnects the device from that account, no data is lost on icloud. Then enter the account ID that you want to use.

Can I restore the edited Contacts from iCloud into my iPhone that is not a new device?

Here is what happened. Somehow, I synced my iPhone with all of my Google contacts, which added unnecessary garbage to my iPhone contacts. Meanwhile, it automatically backed it up a few times on my iPhone and to the iCloud. In other words, I forever lost my clean phone contact list. Somehow, I only have gmail email list on my iPhone contact list.. bizarre... So, I went to iCloud and cleaned up the contact list since it's a lot easier to do on iCloud than directly on the phone. I even exported the Contact as a vcard into external file. But I can't figure out how to restore my Contact list by importing - either from iCloud, or, from external file into my iPhone.
Am I clear?

How to restore "notes" from icloud backup

I was trying to clear data from my old computer (to give to my little sister), and I accidentally deleted all my "notes" from the "mail" program (not just from that computre, but even on the icloud apparently)!
Is there anyway to restore the notes back to my phone & new computer from my last icloud back up?

to restore from a previous backup, be sure to go into iTunes before you
connect your iPod Touch or iPhone and set iTunes > preferences > devices
and check “prevent iPods and iPhones from syncing automatically.This ensures we don’t erase the previously stored backup.

How do I restore notes from icloud backup to imac?

Somehow my "notes" folder and all contents disappeared from my Mail app on my imac, but the current version is on my iphone and icloud (notes on iphone set to sync to cloud). An older version (15 days old) is also in TimeMachine, but I'd much rather restore from the current notes in icloud.
How do I restore my current notes folder from icloud (or iphone) to my imac?
I don't seem to find the instructions in any other post. BTW, searching for words from the notes in spotlight showed no results on my imac, and it is not in the trash.

I believe in Notes it has an indication what will be shown, in the upper left corner of the app see if there is a spot where you can indicate on Mac, iCloud, etc...I apologize, I'm not on my Mac at the moment and I'm writing from memory. Most of the iCloud based apps (Calendar, Contacts, etc...) have this setting in the upper left of the app.

Backups will be at one of the following locations:
Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Windows Vista/7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Mac OS X: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
But you won't be able to read the files as it is a SQLite database, readable only with 3rd party software with ability to extract data from the backup (such as iPhone Backup Extractor).

My iPad locked up last night and I had to restore to factory settings to make it operable. During the process it asked me if I wanted to restore my data and it told me that the latest and only backup was from a few minutes before that time which was AFTER all my stuff got wiped out. I was able to resync some apps and all my music from iTunes, but I lost a ton of pictures and other files that I thought were SUPPOSED to be safe on iCloud.
So I start reading about restoring data from iCloud and apparently Apple only does this on a NEW device. What a load of crap!
Does anyone have any idea how I can get my data from the stupid iCloud to my stupid iPad?

The "Apple data" such as contacts, calendars, notes, etc. are not backed up to an iCloud backup, since they reside in the special databases on iCloud. If you delete some data from a device (e.g. one contact), it is deleted from that device, from iCloud's database and thus from all other devices connected to that iCloud account.
Hence performing a restore from an iCloud backup will not help.
However, if that data was ever on a computer (assuming the computer also synced data from iCloud) and if you consistently perform backups using something like Time Machine on a mac or any number of backup programs on Windows, then you should be able to restore the data from that backup. For example, on a mac, invoke the contacts app then choose Enter Time Machine from the Time Machine icon on the main toolbar. That will allow you to go back in time and choose an older backup to restore.
If you have an iTunes backup on the computer, I'm not really sure that also includes the Apple data stored on iCloud. It should have the local data. For example, Contacts can be under "iCloud" or "On My Mac" (or whatever computer you use). An iTunes restore should restore the data on your computer.
The whole idea regarding an iCloud backup is that if your device ever fails and must be replaced or reset, the backup will restore all the data as it was at the time of the last backup. The restore will return all the device's settings such as iCloud login, on/off states of data to connect to (like contacts). Once that's done, the device will connect to iCloud and download the current data.
IMPORTANT...
Photos should be regularly synced to a computer (like you store photos from a digital camera) using either USB via iTunes (on a mac use iPhoto or Aperture to move them to an album) or using photo stream. If you have been doing that, then you can sync those photos back to your device.
If you haven't been saving photos except relying on iCloud to store them in a backup, then that is risky, as many users have discovered. I'm afraid I have no advice in this case - there is no "cure".
