HT4859 The backup procedure doesn't work.  This is the second time I have been dissapointed in an Apple product!

I follow the procedure according to the web site directions and it doesn't work.  Nothing is backed up.  When I go to the icloud web site and sign in, nothing is there.
In addition, I got my son an iPad.  Because he is under 18 Apple will not let him sign up for an account on the App store (even though I could give him permission and monitor the activity). 
I had to use my account information on the App store.  The result; account information is confused.  I have had to reset the passwords so many times.
Where is tech support?  You can't talk to a live person on the phone because Apple will not publish tech support phone numbers.  This will be the LAST time I ever purchase and Apple product!

You are correct in that each should have his own account.  But because my son is under 18, he cannot have his own account.  I would still be in charge of it and monitor it.  I was not going to lie and falsify his birthday.  So, Apple would not let me create a separate account for the App Store or iTunes for him.
I am also having issues with iCloud and iTunes and synching my PC with the iPhone.  What a PITA!
The words "user friendly" are not in Apple's vocabulary!
This will be the last time I ever buy and Apple product!

    This is not a feature of iPhone, iPad or iOS.
    Bluetooth is supported for stereo headsets/speakers, handsfree telephone
    devices/headsets, some keyboards, some peer-to-peer apps from the
    app store and internet tethering where provided by the carrier.
    Other than this it will not connect to a phone/computer/device.  (thanks to ckuan for the wording)

  • My bookmarks and history keep disappearing and the backup system isn't working (this has happened a half a dozen times in the last few weeks). Any ideas why?

    I have manually recreated my list of bookmarks in Firefox several times now only to come back (days) later and find they have disappeared. Probably related (but less concerning) is the fact that the browsing history also seems to have been cleared.
    My browser is set to remember my history and I haven't been using the private browsing option. The backup/restore option for the bookmarks doesn't seem to be functioning, either, because even when I select a day on which I know there were functioning bookmarks, "restoring" to that day does absolutely nothing.
    The computer in question is my desktop at work, and I haven't been in the office much over the summer, so I didn't know what updates had been installed and when, so I was hopeful that updates were somehow responsible. However, the bookmarks I saved this past Friday were lost over the weekend, and according to the update history, no new updates were installed.
    Before I left the office on Friday, I tried restarting the browser and the computer in an attempt to figure out what was triggering this deletion; neither of those two actions had any effect -- the history and bookmarks were all still in tact after the restarts.
    Any thoughts?

    Problems with bookmarks and history not working properly can be caused by a corrupted places.sqlite database file.

  • After trying 8-10 different files over that many days or more, the program still doesn't work.  Get the error message, file to large, unable to complete.  What does this program do?  Nothing as far as I can see.

    I notice many of us seem to have the same problem, does anyone ever answer our questions online?
    We paid to use this program, we would not have bought the program unless we had a use for it.  I thought this would be much faster than OCR, but I am finding that it is worthless unless it works and so far that isn't happening.

    Can you please tell me a bit more about the files that you're converting? How large are they (there's a 100MB file-size limit), and are they text, images, or both? File size or complexity can cause the ExportPDF service to time out before it can process the files.
    Other things to check:
    Clear the browser cache and try again.
    Make sure that you're using a supported web browser (http://www.adobe.com/acom/systemreqs/)
    Try a different browser

  • I am connected to a time capsule both wirelessly and through ethernet...and state of the time capsule is solid green...the internet however doesn't work...The internet works fine when directly connected to my macbook pro but it won't work through the tc

    I have deleted time machine preferences...restarted the modem a bunch of times, restored time capsule to it's original settings...after I first set it up in Airport Ulitity its shows a page quickly that states there is a internet problem, but the page quickly goes away before I can read what it says exaclty and states the internet connection problem is resolved...
    However it's not resolved, I'm also having trouble doing a back up to my time capsule...I recently purchased a new macbook and retrieved/restore what was on the time capsule to the new computer...that worked fine...wireless worked fine...however when I tried to back up the new macbook...it would faii stating that there isn't enough room on the TC to do a back up...
    I didn't end up keeping the new macbook, I was just using it/trying it out while my current macbook pro was being repaired (logic board)
    Ever since I got my current macbook back from repair...my backups have failed due to their not being enough space to perform the back up...in the past the back ups would happen and old back ups would be replaced...

    The internet was working fine wirelessly through the TC a day ago, but it wasn't allowing my other laptop that was connected via ethernet access to the internet...I had a self assigned IP address error then...I don't have that problem now, but it's not transmitting internet at all...even though it's in a solid green state.
    I have no problem completely wiping out my TC including the previous back ups on it...just don't know how to go about it...I have restored it to factory settings a bunch of times and created the network from scratch...just hasn't fixed the issue

    If the modem is also a router, either use the modem in bridge and run pppoe client on the TC.. that is assuming ADSL or similar eg vdsl. If it is cable service.. and the modem is a router, then bridge the TC.. go to internet page and select connect by ethernet and below that set connection sharing to bridge.
    Please tell us more about the modem if the above gives you issues.

    OK, this next method works on my older click-wheel ipod. I'm not sure it works on iTouch or iPhone, since I don't have one of those models to try it on, like I did with my click wheel.
    On my ipod, I went to the playlist I chose, and held the center wheel until the playlist title blinked at me.
    This put it in the "On The Go"playlist, and next time I synced my ipod, that entire playlist went back into itunes. It's name in iTunes was "On The Go 1", which I could easily change if I wanted.

    Otherwise, I think you are stuck with buying a 3rd-party ipod manager that will reverse-sync playlists. There is a chart here that has checkmarks for iphone and whether the software can save playlists.

  • The google toolbar doesn't work at all; the bar shows, but it is blank, and i can't get any of the buttons to show. When i click on "add more buttons" nothing happens. I've uninstalled and re-intalled. I've done the safe mode thing. Using Windows 7 32-bit

    This happened in the evening of March 17th. That morning it was there. i did not reboot all day or download any FF updates or other extensions that i recall. I've been wrestling with it for few days thinking on the next reboot it would repair itself. It didn't. I've spent a few hours total since then trying different things on the FF help site, but none have resolved the issue. I've enabled and disabled and re-enabled, uninstalled/re-installed, changed themes, used default theme, etc.

    Try backing it up to your computer with iTunes.  Connect it to your computer, open iTunes, click on the name of the phone in iTunes, go to the Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings and click Back Up Now.  Also go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases to transfer you apps and other purchased media to your iTunes library.

    Try unmounting the volume on your iMac using Disk Utility. Then mount it again. You may need to reboot the laptop or relaunch its Finder process (using the Force Quit window) after remounting the drive on your iMac. Remember that no process may be accessing any files on the drive you plan to unmount, or the unmount will fail. Unmounting and remounting an external drive on my iMac made it become visible on my MacBook Pro after it had disappeared.

    Read the steps in the support article from which you came carefully as the order in which you follow them is  critical. Note that you can do this only when creating a new Apple ID. You cannot use an existing ID.

  • I tried copying a photo and pasting it in another event/group within iPhoto but the paste feature doesn't work.  This wasn't an issue with both Leopard and Snow Leopard.  Do you have any solutions or tips?

    I bought a new MacBook Pro with OsX Lion as operating system.  I use iPhoto a lot and when I tried copying a photo then pasting it to another event/group, the 'paste' feature doesn't work.  This wasn't the case with Leopard and Snow Leopard where the 'paste' feature worked.  What I did was to paste the photo first to the desktop before transferring it to the new event/group.  I brought my Mac to the Apple store where I bought it and the technicians were themselves surprised that the 'paste' feature didn't work.  Chalked it up to glitches in the Lion os.  So how do we fix this?  I just find it absurd that a feature that used to work in Snow Leopard has been disabled in Lion, and the user still has to undergo an additional step to make it work, when new technology is supposed to make things easier for users. 
    Also, hasn't anyone noticed that it takes longer for the computer to boot upon opening? 

    Instead of copy and paste drag the photo to the new event. Or flag it and use the add flagged photos to selected event command
