    If you only changed the name of your iCloud Apple ID, just go to Settings>iCloud and tap Delete Account.  (This will delete the account from your iPad but not from iCloud; it will also delete any data you are syncing with iCloud from your iPad but provided you are signing back into the same account, with just a different name, it will be synced back to your iPad with you sign back in.)  Then sign back in using your updated ID and password and turn syncing back on (when prompted, choose merge).  Here's a video showing this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJMKUo2HTRo.
    If you created a new Apple ID for iCloud and need to migrate your data to the new account, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On iPad.  Next, set up a new iCloud account using new Apple ID, then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to the new account.

    The mobile.me email rolled ove to me.com and to icloud.com email servers.  Resolution on the server deals with the different names.
    You cannot retrieve the password, but you can change it...of course you have to know ti to change it.
    You can try calling your country number from http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57 and ask to speak with Account Security and see if they can access that account and help you change the password.

    Try a reset ..
    Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
    If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
    You may have to re enter your Wi-Fi password.
    If nothing above helped, restart your router then try email.

    Since doing the IOS8 update I can't access my emails they download but I cannot read them or delete them etc. What do I do?

    If these are purchased, third-party apps, then it appears that they are not compatible with iOS 7.  You'll need to wait until the developer(s) have upgraded their software.  You might try to find these developers on the web to see if there are any announcements about incompatibilities.  They may have a forum where you can post a message.
    I just checked on the iTunes store, abcontact was last updated Sept. 2012, a year ago.  In looking over the user comments, the last one (Sept '13) indicates that it doesn't work with iOS 7 and asks the developer to please update.
    Considering the lack of updates, in over a year, this doesn't look good.

    Just the last 3 days, ive been unable to access my emails using my web browser based iCloud account - all other apps on iCloud work fine, apart from Mail.
    Message comes up "Mail could not be loaded"
    Sent report to Apple multiple times daily since Wednesday but no changes and no contact.
    Nothings changed with my browser or work pc - using Google Chrome without issue until this instance.
    Any ideas?
    Tried deleting all history and cache etc. no difference.

    Try running Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If it functions properly in that configuration, then one of your add-ons is the culprit.
    Incidentally, does the background (the purple color) look the same as the one in the screenshot when you access your Yahoo account? Yahoo has recently upgraded their mail program and it would appear that this is now the default color. If yours is a different color and you haven't modified it yourself, then the problem may possibly be related to the old version.

  • Can't access iCloud email after update to 10.7.4

    After updating to System 10.7.4, I can't access my iCloud email account on any of my devices (computer and iPhone 4S). The servers are not recognizing my email password, which is the same as my Apple ID password.  I can log in to iCloud using Safari and access all of my other information (contacts, etc.), but not email.
    I tried going to Keychain Access and found that my old MobileMe password was correct (now my iCloud and Apple ID password), but the "application password" associated with my email account (which is now my iCloud email account) had been switched to a long string of nonsense.  I tried changing that string to my actual apple ID password, but the system changed it back to the nonsense string. What's going on here???

    I've seen others having problems with a server being down, but I've had no problems yet. And all email providers have problems from time to time. I expect Apple is having minor problems with the transition from MMe to iCloud and I expect it to become stable, even though I've seen few problems.
    From my experience, it's been more stable than gmail or att.net. Do what makes you comfortable and no reason not to have both in case one fails.
    Unless you're a very unlucky person on a bad server, it may just be a setup issue. Try signing out of iCloud, delete iCloud accounts left in Mail. Delete any password associated with iCloud or MMe or .mac in Keychain for applications, not the website password. Verify your Keychain is OK after with Keychain First Aid.
    Then sign back into iCloud and let the server set up the Mail account. The only thing you have to do is check the box to use Mail and iCloud does the account setup. If it doesn't work, then it's a server issue.
    As of right now, iCloud system status reports no trouble in the US.

    I'm thinking of changing service provider, i realise i wont be able to keep my openworld email address without paying a fee, but what happens to saved emails that i have put into various folders i have created on the yahoo mail page.
    I assume these are stored on their server.
    Will I still be able to access them after they close my account

    To save all of the folders, you will have to use a mail client that can connect to the IMAP server. This will download all of the folders and the contents, so you can save them.
    You old account will revert to a basic webmail account, which can only be accessed via a web browser.
    If you want to download your mail, then here is one free option Thunderbird setup

    old email in inbox can not be read after mail.app receives new email
    all the messages come back with an error " The message from (sender) concerning (subject) has not been downloaded from he server. You need to take account online in order to download it."
    the account is a POP account, so the emails are already on the computer
    the account is not "offline" no lightning bolt next to the account
    the account will work again if mail is quitted and reopened, up to the point new mail comes in
    only inbox seem to be affected, as the sent folder works
    have rebuilt mailbox, repaired permisions,
    any help is appreciated

    ive got an issue with my ipad and iphone that it cannot get mail as my password or username is incorrect. i have deleted my account, and then added it again, but sadly it then says it is unable to verify the account information. i have a hotmail account and the problem has only started now.

    Rebooted system (Linux Mint 14 - 64 bit) and tried tbird with nothing else started. It made no difference. Same error message when I try to set up the gmail account. "Configuration could not be verified - is the username or password wrong?". If I go to manual config for account setup I get the additional msg "Thunderbird failed to find the settings for your email account." This sound like the symptom for the 2 factor auth failure in another question but there was nothing about how to fix it.
    Can log on account readily using web interface. Anything I should try?
