HT4864 How do I stop icloud email address being used when I send an email from a web page. also why are icloud emails not received

When I click on the email on a website my Icloud email address is used when I want to use my normal one. It does it automatically. Can this be stopped. Also may icloud emails don't get to the recipient why?

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions. To do this, click here and pick a method; if that page doesn't list one for your country or you're unable to call, fill out and submit this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

You can paste it into any word processing program you have, evernotes as stated, the notes app, even into e-mail if you want.

I just used the "find my apple id" and it has an id to my old email address problem is when i try to login to hotmail with that account it says the email address doesn't exist..and this is affecting my application updates and purchases.

Please help!
I dont know how the email address doesnt exist and how it can still be an apple id but not let my access my purchases or update old appplications

The problem is that i have 2 apple Id's now and i used on to purchase my macbook pro a few years back and then i created a new one for my new macbook.. i was trying to update my iphoto and imovie but it kept saying i couldnt update it as it was purchased under a different id, and seeing though i cant get into my old account i cant update what i need to. i know the password for the old one as my brother still uses it but it wont work now as hotmail says the email doesnt exist.
in saying that i dont think i can get into the old account and change the email address

I read this as you haven't been able to send any mail to this address. Not even using web-mail?
You (Tbird) send email to your email-server (googlemail.com or other) this server sends it to the receivers server that then puts it in your receivers email-account. From where he/she can download it.
If the receivers server cant deliver it, something is wrong, the account is closed, the inbox is full, you are blocked or whatever it returns the mail with a message "undeliverable" or something like that.
If you get this message Tbird must have done its part unless Tbird has messed up the address. Not likely.
Check if your recipient haven't changed email-address.

I am receving ten emails a day from people I know saying they received a message from me including a virus.
Here's one example:
This message has been processed by Symantec's AntiVirus Technology.
account6.pif was infected with the malicious virus W32.Sality.U and has been deleted because the file cannot be cleaned.
Another from a friend:
-Today we received an email from your address which contained a virus and was deleted.
I have a .Mac account and it is not clear whether someone has accessed my email address and is sending emails using it, or whether somehow, a virus is being added to mail I am sending.
What can I do please?

More than likely what has occurred is a Windows user has been infected with a virus who has your email address in their email client's address book.
Such a Windows virus sends an email with infected file attached to all contacts in the infected user's address book and randomly selects an email address from the address book to appear as the sending email address for the message or messages.
All this occurs without the infected user's knowledge.
This helps to enable the virus to spread quickly since most people are more likely to open an attachment received from someone they may recognize or doesn't appear to be send by a spammer and makes it more difficult to determine which Windows PC is infected and where the message or messages has originated.
Unless you sent these messages including the attachment with the same file name indicated that was infected, what I provided has occurred. Although it is possible to receive a message with an attached file that is infected with a Windows virus and forward the message with attachment or save the attachment outside of the received message and attach it to a new message, a file infected with a Windows virus can have no effect on OS X with the exception of Office document macro viruses (which are no longer as common) but affect Office documents only with OS X.

Old email address being used in Touch

When I send emails from my iPod Touch, it sends them with my three year old, obsolete email address! I haven't used a shaw.ca account for three plus years, and have looked everywhere for the source. I deleted the "previous addresses," and shaw.ca appears no where in the new email addresses on my four Macs. Stumped. (I found this out when I first got the iPod.)

There will be a couple places the email address is pulling from
-Settings - Mail,Contacts,Calendars - Scroll down to the bottom - You will see an area called Default account. Check here and ensure it is not set for a Shaw address.
-Settings - Mail,Contacts,Calendars - Above the word add account will be the email accounts you have on the iPod Touch. Tap on each one, Confirm the address is not Shaw and also check the description for each one to ensure it is not Shaw.
One possibility maybe that the email address or addresses you are using may contain in option on the email provider server that tells it "When sending emails from the account send it as [email protected]"
I know Gmail is capable of such a feature.

Wrong from address being used when sending emails.

I have had a problem just recently on my iPhone 5S with latest iOS 7.1.1 whereby outbound emails are being sent from the wrong account.
When I start to compose the email the correct from address is shown, but then when I enter or select a recipient it sometimes changes to one of my other accounts. This causes confusion and problems when people don't recognise the email account, and potentially will reveal a private account to someone I don't want to.
The default is set correctly, it just happens occasionally after entering a recipient email address. Very odd and recent behaviour.
If I notice and change the sending account before sending the email then the next time that I send an email to that person it seems ok. But it can change again at any time.
I just tested and if I change the sending email address it will use that the next time, if I change it back it will then select a random different one following that. It is very definitely a bug. I bet you $5 if I call up Apple tech support they will tell me to reset and restore my phone, which will probably solve it for a few months before it crops up again. Have tried rebooting the phone and turning off and on and switching default accounts, no change.

Check your mail smtp server preferences in Mail Prefs > Accounts for each account. That is independent of the "account" dropdown in the message composition window. In preferences > account, make sure that the desired smtp server is selected for each of your mail accounts. Authenticated smtp servers will specify the username with the smtp server info. If any are in error, you will need to go in and edit the smtp server information from that same pulldown menu for each account in error.

On the iPhone and iPad go to Settings/Messages/Send & Receive, set the "Start a new conversation from..." your phone number.

Body of email is being duplicated when I send attachments and copy someone

When I send emails with attachments, the outgoing message goes out as one email, however, what I type is duplicated. This only happens if I copy someone else in that email (like myself). If I send a message with an attachment and I copy myself, I notice that when I open that mail in a different email application (Eudora for example), the message I sent is duplicated. For example, If I write a message that has "Dear Tom, thank you for writing. Attached is your invoice." and I send that mail to Tom and copy myself, and I open that mail in Eudora, I see that message as one incoming piece of mail, but it has the message to Tom listed twice in that same email. It will only have the attachment listed once, however my message to Tom is listed twice. I am not getting two emails, I am getting one email, but the message looks like I typed the same sentence twice. Now, if I do the same thing, but I don't have an attachment, I do not see the message twice.

Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move this folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
Move this file to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
Reboot.
If that doesn't do it and you can afford to redo all your Rules, try these & reboot...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist.backup
Note, in 10.5 & up /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/ does not exist.

How do I know which Location is being used when set to Automatic

I have two Locations set up called Home and Music Room. I've selected Automatic in Network Prefernces so my Mac picks the appropriate one.
Home location - Wi-Fi (1st in the Service order), Ethernet (2nd in the Service order although I'll only be using Wi-Fi with this location)
Music Room location - Ethernet (1st in the Service order), Wi-Fi (2nd in the Service order)
So right now, for example, I'm in my music room so I want it to be using the Music Room location and Ethernet but I don't know what it's actually using. In Network preferences, Automatic is shown as the Location, Wi-Fi is at the top, and both Wi-Fi and Ethernet say 'Connected'. If I click on Ethernet to see the details, it does say in the Status area, "Ethernet is currently active and has the IP address 192.168.1.74" so does this mean Ethernet is the one being used?

There is no need to have 2 personal keychains. To make your life simpler combine them.
the login keychain is standard so it is best to keep that. Open the keychain access application, select your named keychain click on any of the keychain entries in the main window then press command +a to select them all then drag them onto your login keychain. You will be prompted to enter the password for your named keychain.
Then when you have successfully moved them to your login keychain make sure that is set as the default keychain and then you can delete the other keychain. Please not do not delete any of the system keychains.

When I try to print from a web page (email printing is fine), it doesn't "prepare" and printer error box comes up with "unknown error occurred while printing".

Then documents library box comes up showing file name *.xps. Help!

You have selected your default printer as the Microsoft XPS Document Writer. To solve this, go to Devices and Printers, right-click your printer of choice, and select 'Set as default printer'.

On your iPhone, go to Settings -> Messages -> Receive At -> Caller ID and make sure the phone number is selected - this will cause new messages sent from your iPhone to appear to come from your iPhone phone number.
(I actually prefer to have my email selected, so that when I message someone from my iPhone and they reply, it goes to both my iPhone and iPad)
Also, when you send a message from your iPhone, make sure you're not replying within an existing conversation (that was created on your iPad and linked to your email). Just start a new conversation (even if it's to the same person) by going to the Messages app, going back to "Messages" (top left corner) if you're already looking at a conversation, and then clicking the Compose icon in the top right.
