HT4864 my iphone is not connecting to the server
I keep receiving messages that I cannot connect to server; when I check mail from my iphone. Any suggestions?
Hey bbweston
The first thing I would try is to remove the email account and then add it back in. Check out the article below for more information.

Since 29/10/2012 my iphone 4s and more recently my ipad 3 will not connect to the server when trying to access my email account. All I get is an error message saying that 'cannot get mail, connection to the server failed' I hadnt changed any settings it just happened. I have since done a complete re-boot on the ipad but to no avail. Anybody got any suggestions?
No. Everything was working fine and then it wasn't. I hadn't changed any settings or switched either one off. When the phone stopped working properly I ignored it because I always have my ipad with me but that just sopped working properly and now I am stuffed. I have tried most solutions suggested on here even wiping the ipad clean and re-booting. I did this exactly the same way as when I first got it but still no joy. The same with the phone.

IPad2- cannot open page, Safari cannot open the page because it could not connect to the server? Internet works but this message continues to pop up. My iPhone works fine and iPad has been working great until a few days ago.
Message is almost acting like a pop up.Hi
I constantly get same message. When I open up my windows laptop all works fine so I guess it's a bug that apple refuse to admit to. -

Sept 4, 2014 My iPhone is not connecting to the Hotmail servers. Hotmail comes up with "The connection to the server failed". Are other people experiencing the same issues? From: gnof51
If your Hotmail account worked previously and it suddenly stopped and gave you that message, then it is likely a problem at th Hotmail end. Did you check the Hotmail website or contact Hotmail directly to see if they are experiencing problems?

My iPhone is not connecting to the wifi anymore
My iphone is not connecting to the wifi anymore
Try following this article: Troubleshooting wifi connections http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398?viewlocale=en_US
If that doesn't work, you have the option to back up and restore to factory settings, then testing the connection. But before doing that troubleshoot your router.
Contact your service provider and shown them this article for recommended settings. >> http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4199?viewlocale=en_US
Hope this helps. -

Hello, we have a Mac and an ipad, the Mac is working and wifi is on and the ipad's wifi is on too, but Ipad Safari can not open the page because it could not connect to the server, does any one know that?
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
• Launch Settings app
• Tap on Wi-Fi
• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

"safari cannot open the page because it could not connect to the server"
As stated above. I have had this problem for the last 2-3 days. I have always been able to connect to the internet over wi-fi using my iphone but this problem had persisted these few days. This is a problem because my iPhone shows that I do have connection to the internet. ( I assume this from looking at the internet signal stregth bar at the top of the screen.) My laptop and computer have no problem but the message "safari cannot open the page because it could not connect to the server," keeps on appearing on my phone whenever I try to access the internet.
If it is of any relevance I use an iPhone 4s, reasonably new, practically 2 months. I have never had problems before this. Thank you for your help in advance. The connection strength icon you are referring to has nothing to do with the Internet. It simply indicates the strength of your connection to your local WiFi network. However, even when this icon appears you may not really be connected to your WiFi network.
Your router may not have given your iPhone a valid local network IP address. To check on this go to Settings > Wifi > your network name and touch the ">" to the right to see the network details. If the IP address starts with 169 or is blank then your router didn't provide an IP address and you won't be able to access the Internet.
Sometimes the fix for this can be as simple as restarting your router (remove power to it for 30 seconds and restart). Next, reset network settings on your iPhone (Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings) and then attempt to connect. In other cases it might be necessary to update the router's firmware with the latest from the manufacturer's support web pages.
If you need more help please give more details on your network, i.e., your router make, model and version, the wifi security being used (WEP, WPA, WPA2), etc. -

Welcome to the Apple community Linda.
Have you tried deleting the account! restarting the device and trying again. -
My iphone has lost connection to the server; I cannot get e-mails.
My iphone has lost connection to the server; I cannot get e-mails. What can I do to fix that?
I recently put on a PowerPoint presentation at DU, in Denver Colorado; signed on as DU guest to access Internet link. SInce then I haven't been able to get e-mail on my Iphone - Cannot Get Mail, Server Stopped Responding. I tried all previous suggestions, such as rebooting phone, updating software etc. I went to MacBook Pro and tried logging on to yahoo e-mail. Apparently there was a security risk to my e-mail account so Yahoo locked up my account. I reset my password, it was verified through text message, and Voila it worked. Don't forget you also have to change this on your Iphone: go into settings; Mail, Contacts, Calendars; click on your e-mail browser, then account and enter your new password, click done and it will verify on you phone as well. Hope this helps!!!

How can I correct the issue of Safari not connecting on my iPad Air? It was working great 2 days ago.....now on September 20 it is not working! I have an internet connection but Safari will not open. "Safari cannot open the page because it could not connect to the server."
Hello Beckieor,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help in this situation. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice concerning network issues:
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
Follow these steps to troubleshoot the above issues:
Be sure you're in range of your Wi-Fi router (access point).
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and on. If your Wi-Fi setting is dimmed, follow these steps.
Confirm that your Wi-Fi router and cable or DSL modem are connected to power, turned on, and connected to the Internet. If not, refer to your network administrator or Internet service provider (ISP) for assistance.
Restart your iOS device.
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you're connected.
Tap and Forget this Network.
Try to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.
Note: You may need to enter your Wi-Fi password again if your network requires one.
Turn your Wi-Fi router off and on2. If your ISP also provides cable or phone service, check with them before attempting this step to avoid interruption of service.
Update your device to the latest version of software.
Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware2. For AirPort Base Stations, install updates using the AirPort Utility.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.

How to fix ipad error -1004 "could not connect to the server"
I am trying to access the tablet edition of Vanity Fair. I already have a subscription and when I click on the "Tap here for acces to the tablet edition" it takes me to a screen & this error message pops up:
Cannot Open Page
This page cannot be opended because of an error
This error is "Could not connect to the server."(-1004).
I have deleted, reinstalled via itunes on my mac, done a hard restart and nothing seems to be working. I can browse the web using safari and am connected to the internet via wifi.
Any suggestions?I have the same issue, too. My New Yorker subscription is fine, always has been. But my Conde Nast Traveler subscription won't work. I can get to the screen where you enter your information (either with name and address or subscription number and zip code), but once I press Continue I get the error.
I emailed Conde Nast's customer service, and this is what they said:
Dear Subscriber:
Please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience you have
experienced.
We have applied a fix to the app for the server error and you will need
to close and re-open your app. To do so, please double click the "home"
button to close the running app and then re-open your app.
Please let us know if you still experience any problems.
If you should need further assistance, please be sure to include all
previous e-mail correspondence.
Thank you for your interest in Conde Nast Traveler.
Sincerely,
Shar
That didn't work. I tried the restarting the iPad, as someone here suggested, but that didn't work, either. Interesting that this seems to be a Conde Nast issue - my NY Times and National Geographic subscriptions are just fine, too.
I'm afraid I'm not sure what the guidance in this knowledge base article means: "Check security software. Ensure that communication to gs.apple.com is allowed. Follow this article for assistance with security software." How does one do that on one's iPad?
I actually wonder if it's a firewall issue. Are any of you attempting to enter this information at work, for example? I am, and my company has a firewall/proxy that gives me issues sometimes. I'm going to try to find a wifi hotspot at lunch to see if it'll work there. -
