When I recently switched over to I cloud my .mac mail quit. I've tried everything. What am I missing?

Delete your mail account from Mail preferences and set it up again using the Mail Server Information.
Some users have apparently encountered issues using this information in pre-Lion set ups (I haven't), Roger Wilmut has kindly provided instructions for those who find themselves with this problem.

All of my songs have exclamation points next to them but when I go to my iTunes media folder to find the files, there is nothing in the folders. Any idea what happened and how I can get my music back?
I wish I could help. There are numerous threads about missing music but last I looked, no solution. You might want to read through them anyway.

When I open "mail" all that opens is the gray ribbon on the top.I have to go to "Mailboxes/inbox" to get it to aspen. What happened? How do I get the full screen to open when I click my "mail" icon like it used to?
Move your cursor way over to the right side of the window. There should be a thin bar. when you hover over the left side of the thin bar, the cursor will change to a vertical bar with an arrow sticking out the left. Click and drag to the left.

Last night the mail application from Apple lost all my old emails, which were stored in mailboxes, neatly sorted by category. What happened and how do I find them?
Details: I shut down mail to run errands outside my office. My late model MacBook Pro was on "sleep". When I returned, I opened the application, and (RATS!) all the mailboxes were missing. They just evaporated.
Operating system: 10.7.2 - all software updates installed and current as of 24 hours ago (12-30-11, 6 AM EST).
ln the mail program, the trash folder is OK and the sent folder is OK.
Yesterday, I did no maintenance on my mail folders.

That was most likely the result of some kind of corruption, as I've already said, not a bug in Mail. Have you repaired the hard drive with Disk Utility recently? That wouldn't be a bad idea.
2 - at random times, mail (or the server) says that my password is incorrect and I must reenter (fix: usually I can quit mail, restart, and the connection is restored without reentering my password)
This is a known issue, where a failure to respond promptly on the server's end mimics what happens when the password is rejected. There's no need to quit Mail, just cancel when asked to enter the password, take the account back online and try again.
3 - mail seems to resort the mail in my mailboxes at random time. Several times a day, I must reset the sort to (a) by date; (b) by desending
Never seen that before. That points more to some kind of possible corruption in your Mail data or preference files. -
My battery died and when it was charged all my contacts were erased, what happened and how do I retrieve them?

She is making in app purchases. Probably not knowing what that means to your monthly credit card bill. Use the Settings app to enable restrictions and turn on restrictions for iTunes, App Store and in app purchases, mabe some others too. The restrictions will be set with a passcode to prevent your daughter from changing them.

I created a 5x7 postcard document in Word with text boxes and graphics. When I converted it to PDF, some of the items were missing, even though they were in the boundaries of the page and looked fine on the Word document. What happened, and how do I fix it? Reader doesn’t create pdf files. You can use Acrobat (ask in that forum) to create pdfs. You can subscribe to the Adobe PDF Pack which has a create pdf functionality (please ask in that forum), or you can use a third party utility such as ghostscript, cutepdf, or Microsoft’s own PDF creation capability. For third party pdf creation you will need to ask in a forum dedicated to that software as fellow users of Reader are unlikely to have the knowledge to help.

I am trying to type a password into a Pages document. It types in OK, but when I press return or close the document some of the letters in the password get transposed. What happens and how can I fix this? Thanks.
Are you just typing ordinary text into a word processing document or are you trying to set a password on the document itself?
If it is the first perhaps Pages is trying to spell check the password. You can tell it to ignore that "word", or turn spellchecking off.

IPhoto was open, but "unexpectedly quit". When I opened it again a couple days later, my most recent photo uploads (for the past month or so) were missing, with dated Events folders saying "no photos". This had happened another time about a year ago? What happened, and how do I retrieve my photos? I hadn't backed them up, but do they automatically do so on iCloud?
Assuming you're running iPhoto 9 or later do the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down to open the First Aid window. Be sure to follow the circled recommendation in the screenshot.
2 - run Option #4, Rebuild Database. -
Suddenly all my albums in Photos are blank. The photos are still in the camera roll but not in the albums. What happened and how do I recover them all? Are they in my icloud? Also the photos are clear as thumprints but when I touch it to zoom are blurry. what gives? They were all completely clear and in the albums when I last used my ipad?? Would doing the "Reset" under General settings do that? When I returned from Europe I reset my ipad to get it in the right time zone etc.
Reboot. Press and hold the home and sleep buttons until the apple logo appears. Ignore the red slider.

When I purchased my Mac six months ago, I transferred my Quicken files to Quicken Essentials. That worked fine until yesterday. Now I'm getting messages that there is not application to open the files, or that it just plain can't open the file. What gives here? What happened? How can I get back in?
Launch the Quicken application and try to open the file from there, if you haven't already. If that fails, and a simple restart of the computer doesn't help, try reinstalling the application. If that doesn't cure the problem, I would suggest you take this up in the Quicken Community:

I have not accessed my iBook library for a month. When I opened the application awhile ago I found that all my books except for 2 books have disappeared. What happened and how can I retrieve my books.
CharlesOne possible reason is have you synced to your computer's iTunes recently ? If so then it might have replaced the books that were on your iPad with those that are on your computer's iTunes library.
You should be able to re-download them via the Purchased tab in the ibookstore in the iBooks app, or via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes and then sync them back to the iPad : re-downloading. If you re-download them directly on your iPad then you may want to copy them to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases, so that you have a backup copy of them and to see if it stops them disappearing from the iPad again when you sync (assuming that was the reason why they disappeard). -
