HT4872 cannot link to google contact phone numbers

My calender is visable, but not the telephone numbers in my gmail contacts list.

The warranty for an iPhone is only valid in the country where you bought it, that's why Apple in China can't help you.

  • How do I get my contact phone numbers to format properly?

I just upgraded to an iPhone 4S on Verizon.  The majority of my contact phone numbers are now in the format: 1234567890.  On my old iPhone 4 (AT&T) they were displayed as (123) 456-7890.
    This is causing several problems.
When I try to dial from contacts, Verizon keeps insisting the numbers are international, and I don't have international service.
When a call from a contact comes in, it shows the number, not the name (it cannot correlate the caller ID number with the name in my contact list).  The same with text messages.
I cannot get Siri to dial any of these contacts.
I am syncing via iCloud, and was on my last phone.  In Address Book on my Macintosh the numbers are formatted properly, and show as US numbers.
I've searched through settings, but I don't see any way to change how Contacts on the iPhone displays numbers.
Is there some way to convince my phone that these are US numbers, format them correctly, and stop giving me trouble dialing them please?

I had this problem also and did the same thing. I dialed *228, chose option 1 and it worked. My question is that my phone, which is a 4S and on Verizon, is the only iPhone I've ever had. The format of my numbers just changed. I didn't realize it until I noticed that I was getting calls from people on my contact list and the number, not the name, was coming up. Is there a reason that this happened? I'd like to know in case it was something I did so I can be sure not to do it again.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
A lot more detail is needed to understand your issue...for instance:
    Your specific BB Model
Your specific BB OS (all 4 octets)
Your DTM version (again, 4 octets)
    Your PC PIM version
    Your PC OS version
Good luck and let us know!

  • Back up Assistant lost all my business contact phone numbers

Saturday My Droid 3 that had already been difficult to use because it would not keep a new phone contact and would freeze in emergencies (I am talking get an ambulance, input a doctor's number while standing in the emergency room, or in business meetings, occasions like that) started losing the screen, it would go black if I opened the keyboard and then freeze with a black screen, continuously. It would not respond to attempts to turn it off. I took out the battery for a minute and put it back in and rebooted only to have the same thing happen over and over if I tried to use an app, make a call, view picture gallery, whatever. So I took my phone to the Oklahoma City, OK Verizon Wireless Store #331769 for CUSTOMER SERVICE. I showed the sales people my frozen black screen phone and that the back was broken and was being held on only at the top and by the neoprene case. They took the battery out and  put it back in and declared my problem solved and told me that my phone was like a computer and needed to be turned off once a day and kept charged. I assured them that I was aware of this and that I did turn it off and let it reset and I charged it up every night and sometimes in the day as needed. The FIRST SOLUTION was to reformat the phone which WIPED ALL INFORMATION AND APPS OFF OF MY PHONE. I let them do that and they sent me home with it to replace all my information and apps.
Now I come to find that ALL MY BUSINESS CONTACT PHONE NUMBERS ARE MISSING from using Back Up Assistant. This is critical for my work!
ALL CONTACT INFORMATION was missing on my online account! Why would that happen? I will synch what is left on my phone to my BACK UP ASSISTANT account online.
I still haven't transferred the sim card to my "replacement phone". How can I insure that I don't lose all my contact information again???
I am going to Verizon Wireless Store #331769 for CUSTOMER SERVICE directly after work. If they lose my business contact information and phone numbers, I will be forced to re-enter 200+ contacts before I leave to go out of state for work tomorrow..
Any suggestions for a positive result?

        Hello Drucatic
I'm sorry you were not able to get the contacts back. I know how irritating it would be to reload all those contacts. Were the contacts synced with the Gmail account? Please try backing it up with Gmail. Are you able to log in online  at www.verizonwireless.com/myverizon ?If so, Please log in and check the trash the contacts may of accidently been moved.

  • How come when I look at my text messages, my contacts' phone numbers appear instead of their contact names?

How come when I look at my text messages, my contacts' phone numbers appear instead of their contact names?

If you're with Verizon, here's what I found on the boards:
Dial *228, press 1 when the nice lady answers and wait until she tells you your phone has been successfully programmed.
Then hang up, and press the home key twice rapidly and delete the open/running apps that appear there - delete from that second screen, NOT from the Dock at the bottom of your home screen!  You don't want to delete the programs, you just want to close the open/running apps.
Wait 5 minutes or so, then voila!  Mine was fixed!

  • Where did my contacts phone numbers go when i backed up to the cloud?

When I backed up my iphone to the cloud my contacts phone numbers disappeared from my phone and the cloud.
    Can anyone help?

Is back up and sync the same thing?
No. Syncing transfers iTunes content to your devices. Backing up stores all data (minus iTunes content) that you have on your phone, and can be loaded onto a different device or reloaded onto an existing device.
Go to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. Let the device power down and back up. Go through the setup screen and DO NOT select restore from iTunes backup. Instead, choose iCloud backup, sign in with your Apple ID and select the correct backup.

  • Last 7 digits of contact phone numbers confuse Synegy?

Hi -- I have posted a more detailed description of the issue (including how I came across this issue) at:
    http://forums.precentral.net/palm-pre/213995-weird-sms-addressing-feature.html
    Basically, my issue is this:
Background:  All phone numbers in my contacts list are 10 digit U.S. numbers with (ABC) DEF-GHIJ format.  99% of my Synergy contacts are from Google with just 10 or so of 700+ coming from my company's Exchange.  To my knowledge, I currently DO NOT have multiple contacts with the same last 7 digits DEF-GHIJ, but during my personal testing for this issue, I did create a dummy contact record (see below)
    Issue(s):
    *  Let's say I have a contact record for my wife which has her mobile # as 617-DEF-GHIJ.  If I begin a new SMS (using phone # to address the SMS rather than her name) to XYZ-DEF-GHIJ, where XYZ is ANY random 3 digits....555, 567, 345, etc... then the contact field will update to populate with my wife's name after I move the cursor focus to the SMS body text.  I have not actually tried to complete an outbound text this way, but I believe the text would actually be sent to the XYZ... area code and not actually to my wife's 617 mobile # (I assume this based on the phone call analog below)
    *  Same issue with phone # dialing:  I dial XYZ-DEF-GHIJ instead of my wife's 617-DEF-GHIJ.  On pressing send, the phone connection screen show's my wife's contact name and her contact photo (along with the incorrect XYZ phone number).  However, the call is routed to the incorrect phone #.
    *  Finally, I added a test contact "Joe Test" with a phone number of 555-DEF-GHIJ.  In doing so, Synergy immediately linked the new Joe Test contact as second profile under my wife's contact record.  It also changed her name in my SMS history to now reflect Joe Test rather than my wife's name...  I didn't realize this happened until I saw that Joe Test had sent an SMS asking me to bring home some milk.  I then unlinked the Joe Test profile from her contact record.  (leaving him in my contact list as his own separate contact entry).  However, even when unlinked from her profile and with not exactly the same phone #, her full SMS history still indicated Joe Test and not my wife's name.  Only after I deleted the Joe Test record from my contact list was my wife's photo and name correctly re-attached to her SMS history (this might have only happened after she sent me a new SMS message and not immediately).
Clearly, this was some intentionally implemented feature to support 7-digit dialing or the synergy contact linking gone awry.  Also, clearly it's not likely to greatly impact a lot of people, since a user must have two contacts with the same 7-digit phone number (within a 10 digit phone record entry) to really be impacted.  However, it seems to be a significant enough problem that it should be addressed in a future update.
Please advise if my issue report is unclear or cannot be repeated at Palm.  I don't have access to another WebOS device yet, but I am nearly certain that this is not an issue solely related to my Pre.  I'm happy to help debug if you cannot repeat the issue.
    best,
    John Greenaway
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

Still there, and definitely a bug
Presumably as part of the Synergy implementation, the Prē apparently considers any telephone number string, including multiple numbers associated with the same contact, ending in the same last seven digits to be the same.
Unfortunately, this is not as unlikely as the original poster supposes: even discounting the "birthday paradox", reuse of PINs--especially of six or more digits, followed typically by '#'--makes the problem especially obnoxious for multiple, personal voicemail numbers embedded in a single contact entry: all but the first is hidden, except when editing the contact.
The only workaround seems to be to pad with trailing, timed delays ('t'), so that the comparison will fail: since the telephone app permits "dialing through" a delay, it doesn't interfere with use of a service, but is highly counterintuitive!

  • Need to correct and update my contacts' phone numbers

I need to correct and update (or delete) my contacts' telephone number, but there seems to be no place to edit phone numbers or delete them, once they are in the list.
Everything else seems fine, but I cannot delete old/wrong phone numbers.
The Help docs make no mention of editing contacts, strangely.
I am running Skype v5.8.0 on Mac OSX MountainLion.

The matter of contacts is a complicated one. Skype has a number of different contact types (Lync, Facebook, Skype, MSN/MSA, SkypeOut, AddressBook), and unfortunately some of them behave differently.
The thing to know is this: you are not allowed to delete a contact's identity. This is the string or number that Skype uses to uniquely identify a contact. It makes some intuitive sense: you probably wouldn't expect to be able to view your friend's Skype profile and edit their Skype name. At the very least, if this were a limitation, you'd probably understand why that was so.
Phone numbers in Skype work the same way. You can add and delete numbers to your heart's content AS LONG AS: (1) those numbers are not the identity number; (2) the contact type allows it (e.g. not Facebook, Lync, AB); and (3) they were added by you in Skype (not the Address Book).
The situation that seems to be tripping people up in this thread is when you create a contact which has a phone number as its identity. These numbers are called SkypeOut contacts, because they will use the SkypeOut service to call over the PSTN network instead of VOIP. They can be created in the Add Contact page, or by using the little plus button in the History or Conversation views after you’ve already made a call to the number.
Since Skype uses a phone number to refer to these SkypeOut contacts, and to save and recall history about them, you cannot remove that number. Skype wouldn’t know what to call this contact anymore without its identity. This is the behavior that tmcdanel was describing. You can change the number, but deleting it would lead to the contact itself (and all its other numbers and information) being deleted. And that may not what you were after.
So, where does that leave us?
If you have a SkypeOut contact which you want to change the number for, you can Edit the identity and change it. (It wasn’t always so: this feature was released about a year ago.)
If you’ve added other numbers in the meantime and would like one of those to become the identity, you can rotate one of them in by copying the number, deleting it from further down the list and then pasting it into the identity field (the first one in the list on the contact info page).
If you are never going to call this person again, and don’t have a new number for them, then you can delete the contact entirely. Do this by selecting the contact in the Contact List and pressing Delete. This won’t delete the history of calls and SMSes that you’ve made to that number, it will just remove the contact from your contact list. And if you ever you get a new number for them, you can add a new contact with the new number.
What I do personally is try to use SkypeOut contacts sparingly. I always add a number to the person’s Skype contact if I can.
I definitely recognize that this could be much simpler. Unfortunately, I can't provide a timeline for a more unified contact experience. But I thought people would want to know why it works the way it does at present. Hopefully this will give you a clear idea of how to use SkypeOut contacts as they exist today.

  • My contact phone numbers are no longer formatted and texts come from numbers instead of people.  What gives?

All of a sudden all of my contacts as displayed on my iPhone have lost their formatting.  So the numbers all read as 1234567890 instead of (123) 456-7890.  And, what's worse, is when I go to the texting app, all of my texts are still there, but instead of showing me the contact name, all I see are the unformatted phone numbers of where they came from.
Any ideas on why?  It's a Verizon iPhone 4S.  This lack of formatting is not showing up on my Mac nor my iPad.  Would a re-sync fix this?  I'd hate to have a re-sync screw up the info on my computer and pad, though...
    Rock

I too am having the same problem, and use the *228 then killing all my open apps solution to bring my numbers back to the correct format.  However, as just a one time fix, I keep on getting the same problem again after a few weeks, and last week, after a few days of doing the *228 fix.  Does anyone know what is causing this problem on Verizon iPhones?  As a point of information, I was previously on AT&T with my iPhones until my wife transferrred me over to Verizon (on her business account because she wanted to surprise me with a new iPhone 4S).

  • Contact bug : contact phone numbers in edit mode are not shown in "dial" mode

Contacts can have seemingly unlimited phone numbers as seen in the contact edit mode, though very few are shown in the corresponding non-edit mode. Of course, Dialing is not supported in the edit mode.
I have found that contacts that include pause characters or block characters are not properly displayed in the contact "dial mode".  If you every try a conference call service, this is important to you.
At&t uses the comma as a pause, and Verizon uses the letter "t" as a pause.  *82 temporarily blocks your caller id.  Somehow the WebOS software that chooses which items to allow me to dial has bugs and worse, there is no clear way to prioritize so I am completely at the whim of the software.

I have tested entering 12 phone numbers on my own Pre Plus and all the numbers display in the normal contact field. How many phone numbers are you trying to to display?
The dialing options on the Palm Pre Plus are as follows:
To insert a two-second pause in the dialing sequence, enter a T where you want the pause to appear. To add a + symbol in the dialing sequence for international dialing, press and hold 0 (zero) in the location where you want the + symbol to appear. To insert a stop in the dialing sequence, enter a P where you want the stop to appear; to dial the next set of numbers after the stop, tap the screen.
As far as 3rd party special dialing character entry you would need to check with the 3rd party on how to enter this information into you device for your conference calling service.
