How do I backup my windows 7 computer to iCloud?

You can only back up iOS devices (iPhones, iPads, iPod Touches) to iCloud, not computers.

  • HT4859 how to recover backups from my computer using itunes??

Where can i find my backed up files from my iphone on my computer?? I've lost all the data on my iphone when i restored it to the original fase, Big mistake, anyways,... any one can help//...Thanks

If you have a backup on your computer it will be listed in iTunes>Preferences on the Devices tab.  It will be located on your hard drive at one of the following locations:
    Mac OS X: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup
    Windows XP: %AppData%\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup
    Windows Vista: %AppData%\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup
    Windows 7: %AppData%\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup
Note: the backup file(s) have long alphanumeric filenames and cannot be read without special software.

  • Restore backup from from computer vs icloud?

I updated to iOS 5 yesterday and in the process lost my entire calendar.  Before updating I backed up all data to both my computer harddrive (PC) and eventually to iCloud, but the iCloud backup was already overwritten by accident (when I was trying to restore, I connected my iPad and it automatically synched to icloud and overwrote previous backup).  I know the backup on my harddrive is still intact, so when I do a restore how can I force it to look for the backup on my harddrive vs iCloud?

Do it the old way. It still works that way.
Connect your iPad to the computer and launch iTunes. Right click on the iPad name on the left side under Devices and select Restore from backup.
You may want to turn off auto sync in iTunes before you try this. Without the iPad connected .....
On Windows - launch iTunes and from the menu at the top go to File>Preferences>Devices>Prevent iPods, iPhones .... from syncing automatically.
On a Mac - launch iTunes and from the menu at the top go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices>Prevent iPods,
    iPhones .... from syncing automatically.
Side note - I am syncing wirelessly and the old way and I am backing up to iCloud and to my Mac. That may not be the right thing to do, but with all of the overload on the Apple servers, I still want a backup on my Mac!

  • How to restore iTunes Library on computer from iCloud or other method after iTunes library suddenly becomes empty?

I just opened my iTunes on my laptop (which is considerably slow) and all of my music, apps, everything has been wiped for some reason ie. my library is completely empty. I'm not sure what caused this and I really don't care I just want my playlists, music, apps back so I can add more music and sync my iPhone with it again as normal.
I'm sure that all my music has been backed up to iCloud but I'm not sure how to access that from my computer and how to import it back into my library. I'm afraid to sync my phone and iPod now because I've read that this will wipe them completely again and they are the only places I can see my music/playlists so I don't want them to disappear from these devices also before I can restore everything on my laptop.
I logged into my apple ID again on my computer hoping that maybe my music would come up when iTunes was connected to my particular account but the library is still empty. Not really sure what to do and would appreciate any advice. Maybe I'm missing something really obvious here and if so could someone point it out, I won't be insulted! Thank you!

If your music is still in \Music\iTunes Music, I believe your library can be recovered by closing iTunes, then going to \iTunes and renaming iTunes Library.itl to something like iTunes Library.itl.old, then renaming the most recent previous library from your \Music\iTunes\Previous iTunes Libraries folder to Library.itl and moving it to \Music\iTunes.  But I would recommend you post your question over in the iTunes for Windows forum go be sure as they would have more expertise on recovering your iTunes library.

  • How to see documents from my computer in icloud

I must be really slow because I have no idea how to see documents from one computer to another or my devices using icloud.  I have Lion and Pages on my home computer and my laptop.  I have an iCloud account.  So how do I get the pages documents that I create on my imac to sync to the cloud so that I can view and edit them on my laptop and ipad.  And visa versa.  I have the icloud documents option "on" from my preference menu on all devices.  What else do I need to do.  And where is the tutoria

iWork documents from a computer can be added to iCloud by dragging them onto the appropriate page at iCloud.com on your web browser.

  • Backup on the computer vs iCloud?

I have to restore my phone and I was worried about what data I would lose. I used to backup my phone via iTunes on my Mac until this past October when I had a backup error and lost everything on my phone, so now I use iCloud. (this might sound really dumb) but before I was gonna do the restore, I was backing up my phone and I thought about if I would lose the data for one of my games that I have been working on for months so I looked in the iCloud settings under documents and data and it wasn't even listed there. so now I have no idea if it's backed up or not and I really don't wanna risk losing it. so if I switched back to manually backing up my phone via iTunes, would that save it? also one problem I was thinking of was that last time I tried to restore my phone from a computer backup when I got my 6 Plus, it didn't work and basically looked like it was a brand new phone setup. I also had it backed up to iCloud at that point so I just used that one instead. so I'm not really sure what I should do. I might just test it on my iPad because I don't have much on there. if you have any info for me, thanks in advance!

I would recommend that you do both. Better to have two backups than to have one....
Here are some support articles that explain what is backed up in each situation:
iCloud: iCloud storage and backup overview
Create and delete iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch backups in iTunes - Apple Support
And here is an article that provides a comparison to help you to determine which is best for you:
Should I use iTunes or iCloud to back up my iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch? - Apple Support
Note that the last section covers using both iCloud and iTunes backups. I have automatic iCloud backups set up for my phones, so they back up daily to iCloud which means I have a current backup in case of an unexpected need to use one. Whenever I connect to my Mac (to import photos mainly), I also open iTunes and do a backup there. And I always open iTunes and do a backup before I ever do a major iOS upgrade to any of my devices.

  • HT4489 How do I backup my phone contacts to icloud

oHow do I back up my phone contacts to my apple computer and icloud
    H

Go to Settings>iCloud on your phone, sign in with your Apple ID to create your iCloud account, then turn Contacts to On.  Your Mac will have to be running OS X Lion (10.7.2) or later.  If it is, go to System Preferences>iCloud, sign into your iCloud account and check Contacts.

  • Backup to windows computer

I have Windows 7. I backed up to my computer instead of the cloud, but, iTunes shows that I have never backed up the iPhone to this computer. ?? The MobileSync directory has what looks like a valid backup folder, with over 5GB of Apple's proprietary can't tell what they are files.
So, why can't iTunes show that I have backed up to this computer?

    Hello silvermang,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • How do I authorize my windows computer?

The instructions I found lead me to the Store menu but nothing else it recommends works, or even appears where the instructions say it should.

    Authorization
Macs:  iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization.
Windows: How to Authorize or Deauthorize iTunes | PCWorld.
In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it. Or turn on Windows 7 and 8 iTunes menus: iTunes- Turning on iTunes menus in Windows 8 and 7.

  • How do I authorize my windows computer so I can download my previous itunes purchases

It has been several years since my Mac crashed and now I am trying to download on my Windows 8 laptop.  I have previously purchased itunes items and was trying to download them to my computer.  The itunes software itself downloaded and appears to list my purchases.
When I ask it to download them though it states "This computer is not authorized" or something like that---- "you must authorize this computer before you can download your purchases"
Just curious how to do that, etc..
Thanks for any advice you can provide!!

    Live Better,
To authorize, go to the Store menu item on the iTunes menu bar, and choose "Authorize This Computer..." as shown below.
If by any chance you don't see the menu bar ("File, Edit, View, Controls, Store, Help"), first enable it by using CTRL+B.
