HT4889 Mac to iMac migration.
Macbook Pro to iMac data migration suspends wehen there is 20 minutes remaining. I have both computers set to nevcer sleep and using ethernet cable for data transer. Does anyone know what could be wrong?
Hi there, when you switched from the wifi to wired (ethernet) transfer option, did you somehow abort the wifi transfer and start from scratch, or just plug in and see a change in speed? Im currently 3 painful days into a never-ending wifi transfer, and have just plugged in ethernet cable to both imacs, but am seeing no change in estimated remaining transfer time. I assume I need to somehow cancel this existing transfer and start over but dont want to then have to deal with finding and deleting half-transferred or corrupted files on my new mac. Any advice is much appreciated!

I have 2 Macs - an iMac which holds my main iPhoto library and a Mac Book Pro which holds a subset of the library. How can I transfer photos and their metadata from the main library to the smaller 1 on the Mac Book Pro?
Link the two Macs together and use iPhoto Library Manager

I have Photoshop CS2 for the MAC and it stopped working on my MAC. I recently bought a new MAC, an IMAC and it doesn't work on that either. There appears to be no way to contact Adobe. What do I do? Thanks, Ed
That because the activation servers were retired. Now for the good news:
Adobe has provided a non-activation version of Photoshop CS2 free of charge for their CS2 license holders.
Download the Mac version of Photoshop (not the suite) and copy down the serial number next to it. Do not use your original serial number or cs2 disc.
Download Acrobat 7 and CS2 products
Uh... one more thing CS2 is PPC only. OSX 10.6.8 has Rosetta to run legacy PPC products. 10.7 and above will not.

I used Roxio VHS to DVD for Mac (have iMac with Snow Leopard) and the audio does not synch with the video when playing in iMovie. Any suggestions to fix?
Thanks for the reply. I tried playing with detaching the audio in iMovie, but with 20+ hours of video to correct, it would take too long. After 28 hours, Corel/Roxio tech support replied that it is a known bitrate mismatch problem and they have no real fix. I strongly suggest not to buy this product.

on shut down a White screen occur with a star flashing during more or less 25 seconds. before update to Lion, 3 or 4 seconds to shutdown. no more app installed or removed. it stills the same usage.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
By default, Migration Assistant creates a new user account where it puts all the transferred data. Just go to > Log Out, and log in the new user that Migration Assistant has created, so you will be able to access to the transferred data.
If you want to merge the data into the first user account, use the Shared folder (it's in /Users/Shared) to put the transferred files there, and then, on the first user, go to the Shared folder and put all the data in the folders you want -
I'm using an older mac (2008 iMac). Things were getting slow and I used a program called DupZapper to get rid of a lot of duplicate files. It worked and my computer is running better. The only problem is now InDesign crashes at startup. I have the original disks and serial number (CS3) The error message is "required resources are missing". Same message if I try to uninstall. Any clues as to how to re-install?

Yes, any version of PSE qualifies for upgrade pricing, but if you're in the US you might want to consider running the trial for now and waiting for the black friday specials, when the full version will be a lot less than the adobe upgrade price.

I bought a new Mac Pro and migrated my FCP from my old one. But the new old won't accept my product serial number. Help!
Was the FCS on your old machine an upgrade? You will need to enter your original, full version serial first, and then you will be prompted for the upgrade serial number.

Restoring Mac to before Migration
Hi, I purchased a new Mac and was attempting to migrate from my old Mac using time machine, but some files were corrupted in the original backup with my old mac, so the migration didn't really work; however, there are now 100 gb of useless files now on my new mac, and I can't even find where they are to delete them. How would I go about restoring my new Mac to before the migration?
A little drastic perhaps.
Boot to the Recovery Volume (command - R on a restart or hold down the option key during a restart and select Recovery Volume). Run Disk Utility Verify/Repair and Repair Permissions. Then select the Erase tab. Format is Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Erase and then reinstall the OS.

I have a new Mac and I migrated mi old one to this. I can not open iTunes because a message stating "iTunes Library.itl" can not be opened because it was created in more recent version of iTunes. There is not a new version to download. How can I fix this?
Go to iTunes > about iTunes. What version are you running? If necessary, hold down the option key while starting iTunes and create a new, test library so it will start.
