HT4897 email aliases

I am trying to add an email alias at icloud.com and it keeps saying "this alias cannot be saved at this time"

Obviously my previous post in this old thread is no longer relevant. Several posters have complained of the problem you are experiencing, and probably only Support can solve it.
To contact  Support: if you currently happen to have AppleCare, either because you recently bought Apple hardware or have paid to extend the inititial period, you can contact them here:
http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact/
You will need the serial number of the covered hardware.
If you are not covered by AppleCare, then - in common with other free email services - there is no free support and you may be asked to pay a fee. You should argue that this is their problem and you should not be charged.

  • How can I send from multiple email aliases & names?

Hi, I wish to achieve the same result as the OP at http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=112689 and by following the useful guides in that thread, am able to achieve what I want... sort of.
Basically, I have one POP account/mailbox, and only one.
However, I use 3 email aliases for different work purposes, e.g.:
    Fred Blogs <[email protected]>
    Dr F Blogs <[email protected]>
    The Surgery <[email protected]>
Now, according to the advice, in Mail I can create one Mailbox, and under 'email address' in Mailbox Preferences, enter:
[email protected], [email protected], [email protected]
This works fine as far as it goes, and I get a drop down when creating new mail, however, all 3 'aliases' come from the same person's 'Name' - the 1 name I entered in the mailbox preferences in Mail.
No, what I need to achieve is to be able to send email from the 3 different names as well as email addresses, not just 3 different email addresses all with the same name.
This was a doddle under Outlook, you just create 3 accounts with the same SMTP server, but set 2 of them not to receive email (otherwise you'd end up with 3 lots of each incoming email from that 1 shared mailbox).
Mail however is not having any of it, and won't let me create duplicate accounts. I have even tried adding the full name in the email address field of settings, separated by commas: Fred Blogs <[email protected]>, Dr F Blogs <[email protected]>, The Surgery <[email protected]>. That didn't work either.
How can I achieve what used to be quite a simple process on my PC? I can't be the only person who uses one unified mailbox account, but sends from different aliases?
    Thanks.

Thanks, but the issue occurs when I am trying to set up the 2nd account and get to the Incoming Mail Server Page.
Because I am using the same Incoming Mail Server and User Name as the 1st account, when I click Continue it reports:
/!\ The account "Account 1" already has this hostname and username.
It then won't let me continue. Now it sounds like you have the same setup, so do you have the same hostname and username in all your multiple accounts? :-S
The reason it does this is - I suspect - because even if you untick 'Include when automatically checking for new mail', when you manually check for new mail, you'd still get 3 lots of the same message. How do you get around this?

  • Email aliases gone after moving to iCloud

Apple told me we'd be able to keep out email aliases after moving from MobileMe to iCloud - now only my main email address appears.  Is there any way to use the aliases?

rephrase your question. I do not understand.

  • How can I use icloud email aliases on windows 7

    Hello,
Is there any way I can use my icloud email aliases on a windows 7 machine other than icloud.com?  I've tried outlook, but it won't allow me to send from my aliases and icloud.com is so slow it's maddening.  I've searched online and haven't come up with anything so I'm doubtful that there is a solution but would be so happy if there was.
    Many thanks.

Any have some inspiration to share on this one?
Looking to send emails from my icloud aliases on windows 7 pc without using icloud.

  • Can I transfer email aliases to new Family Member Apple ID's?

Apple/Mac user since 1977 with variety of devices running up to date software versions.
Over the years I have set-up a number of email aliases that I use in my Apple ID (starting with Mobile Me or whatever iteration preceded it). They were intended for other family members that were sharing my account.   ...this worked pretty well, but filtering who's email was who's...
There is now no need to share my account - they each can have their own Apple ID but still share purchases. But I'd like them to retain the email aliase we've had these many years.
Can I transfer my Apple ID email aliases to a different Family Member Apple ID for use as their Apple ID user name?

I'm afraid not. Aliases remain tied forever to the account which created them - you can't move them to, nor use them to create, another account.

  • What is the maximum number of email aliases allowed?

I just tried to set up 2 email aliases via iCloud.com.  I already have one setup and wanted to add a further two, which should be allowed as it says I can setup 2 more at the bottom of the preferences pane.  I did delete an alias that I no longer used about a month or so ago.  I've created one new alias but when I go to create my second new one it flashes up with a message saying something about a waitng period? And that because I've just deleted an alias I've got to wait 7 days before I can setup a new one as I'm at my maximum?!
I'm not at my maximum, I've got 2 setup and it says I have one more to setup now but it won't let me do it.  I don't know why it's giving me this waiting period because I cancelled one of my old aliases ages ago.  Any ideas?

You are allowed three aliases. When you have three, and delete one, you have to wait 7 days before you can create another to replace it.
That's the theory. Several posters have complained that the 7 days has extended itself into several weeks, and I've not seen a solution as yet.

  • I just switched to icloud, and found that one of my email "aliases" that I use all the time has been deleted.  How do I get it back!

Apple apparently deleted one of my email aliases, and I would like to know how to restore it. Please help.

  • How to Alter email aliases from iPad

Hi, in the preferences on the iCloud web portal (Mail section) you are able to setup email aliases. is there any way to change use these on the iPad? if you try to log into the iCloud site it redirects you to the IPad system pref', and I can't find any way to work with them there.
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Unfortunately not yet
But that is an uncomplicated and painless thing…
Make sure you connect the iPad first to iTunes and synch it, so you make sure you won t loose anything.
Go on the iPad to "Settings - General - Reset - Erase all Content and Settings".
After that is done, connect the iPad again to iTunes and -IMPORTANT- don't let iTunes restore the iPad from one of your backups, rather set it up as a new device.
This should be easy and strait forward… if you have lots of data on the iPad, you can do it over night…
    enjoy your magic machine

  • Old @mac email aliases not showing up in iCloud

I have several old email aliases with the @mac.com name.  None of these are showing up in iCloud when I log in via a web browser.  I only see the following:
The recommended method of adding/editing aliases indicates that I have no aliases (as shown above), but I know I do and I test them and they still work (i.e. I can send emails to those aliases and they show up both when I'm in iCloud email via the browser or in my email client on the Mac).
Tried finding similar problems on the discussions forums at discussions.apple.com but either I couldn't or ones which were close did not have replies.
Would appreciate help with the above.

  • User Safelist / blocklists and EMail aliases

    Ciao tutti,
Here is a funny problem reported by one of my user who uses Blocklists a lot.
Basically, the Good Mister has serveral email addresses :
    - Primary EMail : Good <dot> mister <at> email.com
    - Secondary Email : GMister <at> email.com
All information is stored in Active Directory and I have an EMail alias consolidation query which displays all relevant email addresses of the user for Spam Quarantine notification.
    Here comes the problem :)
When a sender in the blocklist sends an email to the secondary email address, the mail doesn't get blocked...
Is this a normal behavior ?
Would it be possible to have the blocklist applied to all email aliases of a user ?
    Thanks !
    Frédéric

The safelist/blocklist is tied to one email address. However, if you enable email alias consolidation done by LDAP and leveraging off of the Active Directory, then you may be able to achieve what you want.
The safelist/blocklist comes into play with respect to anti-spam results. The email alias consolidation should occur much earlier.
So, see if you can get email alias consolidation using LDAP/Active Directory working and it should address the safelist/blocklist thing.

  • HT2623 how do i delete my icloud email aliases?

how do I delete my icloud and "me email aliases addressess
    Cheers
    Paul

While you can turn off or delete an email alias that your create, you cannot delete an @me.com or @icloud.com address.  You can only choose to stop using it.  If you want to stop using iCloud email completely, go to Settings>iCloud and turn Mail to Off.

Which is the command to use to list all email aliases/groups and members on the mail server.Email aliases/groups can exist in text files in the configuration directory of Messaging Server or be defined in the LDAP Directory Server. You can use the "commadmin group search" command to list the ldap groups (if you have Delegated Administration installed/configured), otherwise you can use a directory ldapsearch to find the groups.

  • IPhone OS 3.0 and MobileMe email aliases

Will the iphone OS 3.0 allow mobileme subscribers to write and respond to emails using all of their email aliases?
Very important to me. I have many identities.
    Steve

Sorry if I am not using the correct lingo
My MobileMe account allows me to have up to 7 aliases with my main account - 7 different email addresses that all come in to the same email account. [email protected]
But there is only one account
Until recently, I could write emails and respond to emails with any of the 7 email addresses. I use different email addresses for different things - including involvement in separate and distinct communities. So this diversity is important to me.
Suddenly a week ago, something happened and I was no longer able to use any email address other than the main one.
Looking here in support I found others with the same problem being told that the mail application on the iPhone does not recognize these aliases.
Hence my question about the new iPhone OS 3.0
