HT4906 can't turn on Photo Stream on my Mac

i'm trying to turn on Photo Stream on my Mac, but the box to check off Photo Stream is grayed out so I can't check the box. My software is updated, and I'm using OS Mountain Lion. What should I do to turn on the Photo Steam?

what version of iPhoto? Are you logged into iCloud in the system preferences? See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4486?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US for software requirements, FAQ and trouble shooting hints

  • TS3989 how can I share a photo stream from my mac? there's no check box in system preferences to turn it on

I've been having trouble to share my photo stream with other from my mac. Once I selecte the photos and click share>photo stream, nothing else happens. The option for "new photo stream" does not appear, neither the field where you type in the email addresses from people you whant to share it with. I all ready checked in iphoto'11> system Pref.> photo stream and there's no "shared photo strem" check box to turn on or off... I also checked in my mac system pref to be sure that my icloud is enabled and it is.
If I select photos and then go to my tool bar and press share. the option of photo stream is not available.
I also can't accept any shared photo stream from other and view it in my iphoto. I can only access it via web.
I DO can use my photo stream correctly and share it via my iphone. and every picture that I take uploads into my mac and every photo I import from cameras into my iphoto also uploads fine into my Ph stream. THE PROBLEM IS THAT I CAN'T SHARE THEM FROM MY MAC.....
    Please can someone help me?

You turn on Photo Stream in iPhoto's Photo Stream preference pane:
Check the box "Automatic Upload" to add every photo imported into the library to the Photo Stream.  Or leave it unchecked and manually add just selected photos to the stream by dragging them onto the Photo Stream heading in the left hand pane.

  • HT4906 I can't turn on photo stream

I'm trying to set up photo streamming but the checkbox isn't available.

    Greetings,
    Questions:
What version of iPhoto are you running?  (iPhoto > About iPhoto).  You want iPhoto 9.2.3.
If you have iPhoto 9.2.3 Try:
    Quit all open Applications
Go to Apple > System Preferences > iCloud > Sign Out
Click anywhere on your desktop (the background) and then go to the "Go" menu at the top of the computer screen, hold down the "option / alt" key on your keyboard and choose "Library".
Go to Application Support > iLifeAssetManagement and remove this folder to the trash
    Go to Apple > Restart
Go to Apple > System Preferences > iCloud > Sign In
    Enable Photo Stream
    Hope that helps.

  • Can't turn on Photo Stream in iCloud for PC

    Hi,
My photo stream used to work fine.  But after removing all the photos to separate folders in my computer, my new photos are no longer streaming to my PC.  They appear in the photo stream on my other devices - iPhone5 and iPad Mini.  It's just my PC that's missing the photos.
When I open the iCloud control panel, I cannot turn on the photos.  That option is ghosted.  I'm running on Windows 7 with iCloud 3.0.  Any ideas on how I can fix this?  All help is appreciated!  Thanks!

.....whenever I sign out I get a messgae saying that I will be turning PhotoStream off....
Why do you keep signing out, of course this will turn photostream off, it will turn everything off.

  • How can I see My Photo Stream from two Macs associated with the same Apple ID?

I have a MacBook Pro (my personal machine) and an iMac (our family computer).
The iPhoto library housing all of our family photos lives on the iMac.
The iPhoto library on my MacBook Pro is currently empty.
I have an account on both machines.  I have associated the same Apple ID with both machines.
When I launch iPhoto on my MacBook Pro and attempt to turn on photo sharing (so that I can see My Photo Stream, as well as other shared streams), iPhoto informs me that "iCloud Photos for xxx@xxx is being used with another library named 'iPhoto Library'."
My iPhone, which is also affiliated with the same Apple ID, shows the streams just fine.
What can I do to remedy this situation?  I'd like to be able to view my shared streams on my MacBook Pro, while leaving the actual massive photo library on the iMac.

I found out about this issue when I created a new library with some photo's I wanted to sync to my iCloud account.  I found the following on the Fat Cat Software page and thought it might be helpful to others:
Using Photo Stream with multiple libraries
Starting in iPhoto 9.2, Apple introduced a new feature called Photo Stream, which lets you automatically transfer photos via their iCloud service between your iPhoto library and your other devices such as an iPhone, iPad, or another Mac. This feature works when you have multiple iPhoto libraries set up, but there are a couple things to be aware of.
First, iPhoto will only allow Photo Stream to be active in one iPhoto library at any given time. If you've already enabled Photo Stream in one library, but then open a second library and enable Photo Stream there, this will cause Photo Stream to be turned off in the first library.
Any photos downloaded by Photo Stream are actually stored in an entirely separate location from any of your iPhoto libraries. This means that, even if you do switch Photo Stream from one library to another, you will not need to go through redownloading all the photos you already have in Photo Stream back from the iCloud servers. So, switching Photo Stream from one library to another is a relatively inexpensive operation, so you can do it as often as needed without it being much of a hassle.

  • TS3989 I can't turn on Photo Stream in my System Preferences

So I had to get a new password for my AppleId account and now I can't seem to keep PhotoStream turned on in my SystemPreferences. Whenever I log into iCloud and go through the set up steps and the PhotoStream box is checked, whenever I sign out I get a messgae saying that I will be turning PhotoStream off. My photos are not being synced between my devices and Mac any help would be appreciated.

  • HT4906 why can't i turn on my photo stream on my mac?

I am unable to turn the photo stream on on my macbook pro. I have tried serching the more information and and found nothing that has helped. I want to be able to see my photos on my iPhone that I have down loaded onto my mac. I have the photo stream turned on on my phone but can check it on my mac.
    Can anyone help me.

As long as your system and iPhoto meets the minimum requirements for the basic Photo Stream try the following:
Disable Photo Stream in the System/iCloud preference pane
and in iPhoto's Photo Share preference pane.
Reboot and reenable both respectively. That should jump start Photo Stream.
