How do I store all my photos in iphoto to icloud?  Approx 80 GB.

iCloud is not a storage medium, use DropBox or Sugarsync.

    That's exactly what I tried to do, but the iPhoto librry doesn't show up in the pulldown menu. If I click "Choose Folder", the iPhoto library is greyed out and unable to be selected.
    For some reason, iPhoto is an option in the pulldown library on my older iMac but not on my MacBook Pro. What gives?

  • How do I store all iPhoto libraries on the iCloud?

    I believe I can save my photos to the iCloud in case of disaster.  How do I store ALL of my iPhoto libraries/events/photos on the iCloud?  It doesn't appear there are there when I look at iCloud.com.
    Thank you.

    iCloud Photo Library (Beta) is not yet available on the Mac, only for mobile devices with iOS 8.  It will be supported on the Mac, when the Photos.app for mac will be released, probably sometime in spring this year.
    See this link for what iCloud Photo Library will be able to to.  iCloud Photo Library beta FAQ
    But since you are making about a cloud backup - iCloud for the Mac is not meant as an off-site backup. It is meant as a central storage for the documents and data you are using and updating them on all your devices, when they change in iCloud. You will need to keep a local backup of your iCloud documents and data.

  • How to tranfer all my pics in iphoto to windows machine?

    all my pics are in iphoto,what is the easiest way? i looked in iphoto library under originals but all the event do not seem to be there,what is the easiest way? i understand i will have to reorganize in windows.please help

    Yes, as they are not in the Original file.
    If you want to export with the added metadata:
    File -> Export, Kind: Jepg or Tiff (png does not fully support Exif or IPTC)
    Check the boxes at Title and Keywords and Location information. That will get all the metadata that you added in iPhoto (Inclding descriptions, though not explicitly mentioned). Note that you won't get Faces. There is no standard for sharing Faces info.

  • How do I move iPhoto pics to external HD to free up hard drive space, then how to back up external HD

    I currently have 2 iPhoto Libraries on my 2010 MacBook Pro.  Photo count is in tens of thousands, and hard drive needs them to go away so it can work faster.  Nervous about moving photos to external HD.  I currently back up entire computer to 1 external HD via Time Machine.  Just purchased another bigger external HD for purpose of moving iPhoto libraries to it.
    However, Genius Bar told me to drag and drop folders to folders I create on new HD and NOT move iPhoto Library file itself because those were only "copies" of the images.  If I want to keep the real images, I should move folder by folder and group by year.
    I'm just totally confused.  I still want to be able to use iPhoto to organize and edit my photos.  I THINK I can do that by moving the entire iPhoto library folder from my Pictures folder to the external and then launching iPhoto by holding down Option key.  But, how do I back up the back up?

    Genius bar is not very genius in this case.
    Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
    Backing Up.
    Remember a back up is a copy on another disk (at least). So, you'll need one disk to hold your Library and another to back that up to. You can use Time Machine if you want to. Chronosync or SuperDuper are also excellent alternatives.

  • All iPhoto pics are gone! Please help!

    Today I emptied my trash, which I have done in the past with no problems. But now I see that I have NO photos in iPhoto, which had about 1,200 2 hours ago.
    Could someone please tell me simply what happened---I am not a techie---and if there is a way to restore the pictures? Where did they go? they weren't in my trash!!
    Thanks SO much....Beth

    Beth,
    If you didn't empty a trash can full of hundreds of files, then it's possible you moved the Pictures folder and it was dropped inside another folder. (Drag and drop makes that easy, and it would only have taken a split second.) Did you try the Finder Search for jpegs? Or search for all folders with the name Pictures. Or search for a file named "Library.iPhoto" which will point you to your iPhoto Library.
    To create a Pictures folder, navigate to Macintosh HD/ Users/ (your user name) or simply select the Home folder in the Finder sidebar. Do File > New Folder, then name the new folder "Pictures" exactly - with a capital P (but no quotation marks). The list of folders in your Home folder should look something like this: Desktop, Documents, Library, Movies, Music, Pictures (and perhaps a few others). To place the Pictures folder in the sidebar, simply drag it from the Home folder and place it where you want in the sidebar. This creates the alias.
    If you get a message as you are trying to create the Pictures folder that one already exists in that location with the same name, do NOT allow it to be overwritten. You don't want to overwrite your files with an empty folder, because then it really will be gone. This is why I strongly recommend that you do those Finder Searches before creating a new folder.
    I have more pictures in iPhoto now from this vacation!
    Have you already imported them? Where is your iPhoto Library folder? iPhoto places a new library into the Pictures folder by default. You can locate any file in your iPhoto library by right-clicking (control-clicking) its thumbnail in the iPhoto Window. Choose "Show File" or "Reveal in Finder" (different versions phrase it differently) from the contextual menu. A Finder window should then open with the file already selected. Use that window to trace the path of the file and locate your iPhoto Library folder. Is there a Pictures folder?
    Thank you for your kind words. My ability is somewhat limited by the fact that I use iPhoto 6 on Tiger, and have little recollection of the specifics of iPhoto 5 on Panther. There are some differences. If you need help with performing a Finder Search, you would get better advice in the Panther forum. (See, I'm still assuming that Pictures folder is still there somewhere. Things don't just disappear by themselves.) Of course, I'll do my best if you have any more questions for me.
    Let me know how it goes.
    Regards.

  • Where should i store all my pics

    Hi Guys, I am new to apple and am importing 18,000 photos. Where should i store them. I will use Aperture 3 for editing. Should i put all pics in Aperture and use there library or should i store my pics on the Hard Drive and then import to aperture as need be. If i do this, do i need to then export photos after editing back to sub folders on hard drive. ANy thoughts??

    Read up on and use a *Referenced-Masters Library.* Put originals ("Masters") on external hard drive(s) and separately back them up. Then (very important) when you go to import into Aperture select +"store files in their current location"+ on the right hand side of the import window. If you do not select "store files in their current location" Aperture will default to putting the Masters in the +Aperture Library+ (which would then be called a +Managed-Masters Library+ ) instead of just referencing them, and sooner or later your iMac's internal hard drive will become overfilled and you will need to reconfigure to a Referenced-Masters Library.
    Do this a few times with test images to be sure you fully understand the process before you go after the 18k images. Aperture will treat each import batch as a Project so best will be to break your 18k images into individual Projects (e.g. "Mary Jones Wedding" or "20091219," etc.) to import them.
    If i do this, do i need to then export photos after editing back to sub folders on hard drive.
    Unlike Photoshop, Aperture is a non-destructive editor. The Masters themselves are never actually changed. Aperture instead stores your edits in the Aperture Library. You only export when you need edited images for some usage (like delivery of copies of edited images to a client).

  • How to store all iPhone pictures/videos on iCloud?

    I have a 30G iPhone 5S.  I subscribe and pay for 200G in iCloud storage.  I am trying to have all my photos and videos be saved from my phone onto iCloud which I can then also access on our MacBook.  Under "General -- Usage -- Manage Storage" I have selected "Camera Roll" to back up to iCloud.  Also, under "Settings -- iCloud " I have"Photos" sleected.  I keep getting warnings that I do not have sufficient storage to take pictures and videos.
    Questions:
    1.  How do I back up and store my entire "Photo Library" (i.e. pictures and videos) to my iCloud account?
    2.  How do I sync all the pictures and videos on my iPhone to my MacBook?  Not just the "Photo Stream" pictures?
    I thought by purchasing the iCloud space, I would have the 200G to take as many videos/pictures as I wanted since they would be stored there and not on my actual phone with the limited hardware storage.  Please advise....this is SO frustrating!
    Information:
    Product - iPhone 5S
    OS - 7.1.1 (11D201)
    Model - ME309LL/A
    Capacity - 27.4GB

    An iPhone backup to iCloud stores the photos on iCloud but the backup of the photos (and the other data on the phone) are only useable for a complete restore (e.g, in the event of a problem with the phone or when moving data to a new phone).
    Apple does not have a method of storing all iPhone photos on iCloud using iOS 7 in a way that you could then access them and sync to a Mac other than Photo Stream.
    iCloud Photo Library (beta) can be used to store your photos on iCloud in a way that they can be retrieved but you would need to upgrade your phone to iOS 8.
    You turn iCloud Photo Library (beta) on via Settings > iCloud > Photos > iCloud Photo Library (Beta). There is more information at iCloud Photo Library beta FAQ - Apple Support
    Note the following quote from that link:
    How does iCloud Photo Library save space on my device?
    If you turn on Optimize [device] Storage, iCloud Photo Library will automatically manage the size of your library on your iOS device, so you can make the most of your device's storage and access more photos than ever. iCloud Photo Library stores the original, high-resolution photos and videos in iCloud and can keep lightweight, device-optimized versions on each of your devices. As long as you have enough storage, recent photos and videos that you access the most will stay on your device at full resolution.
    To turn on Optimize [device] Storage on your device, tap Settings > iCloud > Photos or Settings > Photos & Camera, then select Optimize [device] Storage. You need an Internet connection to access an original photo or video that’s stored only in iCloud.
    Also note that the new Photos app for the Mac that integrates with iCloud Photo Library has not yet been released but is expected with the next release of Yosemite (i.e., OS X 10.10.3); In the meantime you could access them via a browser at iCloud.com.
    With iOS 7 there are other 3rd party solutions (not involving iCloud) that may do what you want. Examples you may want to investigate include Flickr and Dropbox.

  • All iPhoto pics disappeared.

    I had two text files and iPhoto all on my screen at the same time, and iPhoto got shoved off. I could not pull it back up, even tho the computer kept trying. When the pictures finally reappeared, many were duplicated. I had 4167 pictures. Now I have over 8000.
    I have a disk backup and am considering deleting and reinstalling iPhoto. If I do this, will the pics be in the same chronological order as before? I seem to remember reading that copying the pictures to a disk puts them in a random order. Also, If I delete iPhoto I want to be sure to delete all the pictures. Where are they located? Rather than delete and reinstall, is there a software program that may help me find duplicates?

    It sounds like you imported your iPhoto library into an iPhoto library - that should never be done
    If you still have the original iPhoto library then the solution is to depress the option key and launch iPhoto and select the old one - if that works and you it fully then you can delete the bad one
    If you do not have it then you need to load your backup

    This will not help - the problem is the library - not the program

    Duplicate annihilator - http://www.brattoo.com/propaganda/ - but it would be better to find the correct library

  • How to include all of pic?

    Hi
    Brand new to iWeb, just messing around to see what it can do, maybe I'll use if I likes it. So, when I drop a pic on a page it can get cropped. How can I manage the cropping to include what I want, including all?
    best
    elmer

    iWeb is NOT free though, as you have to buy the Mac first.
    There will come a time when iWeb will not work and you will be forced to move elsewhere to a product that is supported and some folks have reported problems with iWeb already.
    Again, if it for a new website then don't use iWeb - either use Dreamweaver if you already have it or take a look at EverWeb that I have already linked to - it is cheaper to buy that than a new Mac in the first place, which is what you have to do to get iWeb or had to do in the past, as it's no longer available, so as you can see, iWeb was never really free at all.

  • HT4847 how to back up iphoto pics on icloud

    Are my iphoto pictures from MacBook Pro stored and backed-up on iCloud? What do I need to do?

    No.  icloud does not back up computers, only iOS devices.
    Hopefully, you perform Time Machine backups - they will include the photos, if the drive that your iphoto database is on is included in a TM backup.
    If you want to sync photos from your mac to other devices then you must use photo stream.

  • How to store all messages on my Mac & then change address

    I'm new to Mountain Lion. I use an alternate email address in Verizon. When I set up mail in Mountain Lion, I just used the main Verizon address. Now I want to:
    (a) save all existing messages to my Mac so I don't lose them
    (b) set up Mail to use my alternate email address
    For (b), can I just remove the current setup that goes to the real address in Verizon & then set it up again with the alternate address?
    Thanks.

    Thank you, charlie - I'll give this a try.
    Curiously though, I received your answer via email & it includes text that doesn't show here. Instead of the last paragraph in this reply, it says:
    "For example, you can just "deactivate" the account via Mail, Preferences, Accounts, Account Information. See the check box "Enable this account".  This keeps the mailboxes as they are, but takes everything off line. Then could make a new account from scratch.
    Another possibility is to create one or more mailboxes - Mailbox menu, New Mailbox, "On My Mac" - copy all your messages there where they are stored on your disk.  Delete all the stuff from your current account, then modify your account. Etc."
    Is this normal? I would expect them to match.

  • How to store all database values in to a single textarea in swing

    I am trying to show my database values in to a single textarea but i cannot able to show to that textarea.. pls someone help..

    I am not shure what you are exactly meaning but you can use the setText(String text) method of JTextArea.
    Several values could be seperated with a "\n" character.
    import javax.swing.*;
    public class ImplodeTrial {
      public static void main(String[] args) {
          String[] databaseValues={"Apple", "Banana", "Orange"};
          String temp=implode(databaseValues, "\n");
          JTextArea t=new JTextArea();
           t.setText(temp);
          JFrame j=new JFrame();
           j.getContentPane().add(t);
           j.pack();
           j.setVisible(true);
       public static String implode(String[] ary, String delim) {
             String out = "";
             for(int i=0; i<ary.length; i++) {
                 if(i!=0) { out += delim; }
                 out += ary;
         return out;
