HT4910 Is backing up to icloud different than synching with icloud?
my contacts and calendar are synched with icloud.com If i reset my phone, will the contacts and calendars come back to my phone when it reconnect to the cloud? Or do I have to do a backup? Is backing up to icloud differemt than synching?
They aren't the same thing, you don't need to back up for iCloud to repopulate your contacts etc., when you log back in.
I wouldn't recommend not backing up though, however:
Being able to back up to the cloud can be very useful, especially if you don't have access to a computer or have infrequent access to one, however unless you specifically need to use iCloud for back up, you will find backing up to iTunes significantly more convenient and possibly more reliable.

if icloud is simply downloading all my music again how is that any better than synching? i was hoping i could stream my music from the icloud and not use up memory on my iphone.
You can but each time you stream the music it downloads to the device. You can remove the song and stream/download it again when you want to listen to it.

Serial Command Sent with XP machine different than sent with WIN2000 machine
I need to communicate with a device by sending a Hexadecimal command (AA00 0000). I am using Portnom to watch what is being sent to the serial port. When I run my VI on a Windows 2000 computer my command is being wrote to the port and the instrument sends back the requested information. However when I run the same VI on a WindowsXP machine the lenght is the same (4 bytes) but four dots are being displayed as what is being sent and there is no response from the instrument. I am running LabView 7.1 on both machines. Any help would be great.
Same versions of NI software, especially VISA drivers and MAX?
Is it a pure serial port on the laptop or a USB to serial converter?
What is MAX showing for the name of the COM ports, sometimes a laptops port is not always COM1
Any errors being flagged within the error piping in your vi?
Have you tried to use Windows Hyperterminal on both PC's, this should eliminate any potential differences in NI software and configurations.
Proper grounding of the instrument ?
A lot of questions, I know.

Using port different than 80 with Safari
I need to connect to a web using a port diferent than 80 (497). How can I do it using Ipad Safari?
Of course. In fact i have tried http://10.1.10.100:497. I have no problem using a laptop with internet explorer in the same subnet.

My iphone is not backing up to icloud even though on itunes i have set it to back up to icloud. whenever i do a cable connection between my iphone and mac at the end of the exercise it indicates the last time the iphone was backed up i.e. "last back: 9.08a.m. but on the iphone itself it says it hasn't been backed up since March and on icloud there hasn't been any back up because the latest additions to the iphone are not there.
Periodically i get this message "This iphone has not been backed up ... weeks" I have followed through with all the steps and still no joy. I did however notice that my icloud email account on the iphone is different to the one i have on the computer. It would apear that I am using the two interchanagably but i have been trying to correct this so that i"ll use the same one right through.
Might this be the problem and how can i resolve it? Pls helpIf this is your first time backing up your phone then yeah it might take several hours. It's definitely something you want to do before you head to bed. So try that but also make sure that your contents that are to be backed up are less than 5GB since iCloud only has 5GB of space. Usually photos are what would take up the most space so check how many photos in terms of GB you have by going into settings->general->usage then look at photos and camera.

My icloud ID is different than my Apple ID. Help!
I am trying to delete cloud data. I cannot sign in to cloud as Apple ID is different than cloud ID!
How do I reset cloud password and change my ID on my phone!Did you change your Apple ID by going to Manage your Apple ID and editing the existing one to a new ID?
If so, then you need to do the following to delete your iCloud account:
1. Go to Manage your Apple ID and change your Apple ID back to the old ID (the one that is showing on the iCloud account). This is a temporary change - do NOT verify it, do NOT change the password: Apple - My Apple ID
2. Go to Settings>iCloud on your device and scroll to the bottom of the screen and press Delete to delete the iCloud account. Type in your current Apple ID password when asked.
3. Go back to Manage your Apple ID and change your Apple ID back to the new ID (you may need to verify it again)
4. Go back to Settings>iCloud and sign onto iCloud with your new ID

My MacBook Pro got wet and I lost all of my childs photos from the day she was born. Is there anyway I could get these pictures back from my iCloud? I actually care more for getting the photos back than I do my laptop. Please help! Thank

I assume these photos, or at least not all of them weren't in photo stream.
You should be able to recover your photos from a back up. -
I'm using an iPhone 4S with the latest updated software. Under "usage" it shows less available than total, so my last backup went through (have only done that once in the short time I've owned the phone). I had it setup to only backup manually, when I elect to do so.
Expecting to manually perform a backup this afternoon, I was surprised to be unable to click on iCloud under "Settings". Until I can do that, the app is useless.
Did I do something inadvertantly to cause it to be unselectable? I've turned the phone off and back on but that didn't cause any change in the iCloud status.For what is backed up to iCloud see: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4859

My email (sign-in) and password for iTunes is different than my email (sign-in) and password for iCloud. How do I change my sign in and password so they are the same for both iTunes and iCloud without losing my iTunes content?

I have 1200 pics on camera roll and 900 on photo stream. 1. why are they different? 2. if all are supposedly backed up on iCloud if I delete all photos on my phone will they still be on iCloud or do I need to separately download them to my pc first?
Photos are only uploaded to iCloud after photo stream is enabled. It's possible that you already had 300 photos in your camera roll when you turn it on so they weren't uploaded. Also, photo stream also only maintains photos for 30 days, although earlier photos already streamed to your device from photo stream are not deleted. If you had turned photo stream off, then back on, and the 300 photos fell outside of this 30-day window at the time, they would not be in your photo stream album. (FYI, photo stream will also only save the last 1000 photos.)
If you delete the photos on your phone from the camera roll album, photo stream will be not be effected. If you delete them from the photo stream album on your phone, they will be deleted from your photo stream on your phone and any other devices connected to the same iCloud account/photo stream.
To keep your camera roll photos permanently, don't rely on photo stream as a backup. Import them to your computer (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083). -

You can't use it for back up your hard drive because you can't back up in iCloud a Mac. To use Time Machine, you need an external drive or a Time Capsule

Try restarting the phone and trying again.
If your back up continually fails, you might try turning off back up on your mobile device (settings > iCloud > storage & backup) and then deleting the backup file from iCloud by swiping the backup file on the mobile device (settings > iCloud > storage & backup > manage…) and then turning back up on again. -
I has set the color space to ProPhoto RGB in both Lightroom and Photoshop. I have also calibrated my monitor.
But when I export a photo from Lightroom to Photoshop and edit it there before saving it, the photo in Lightroom is very different than what the Photoshop edit shows.
Photoshop is to the left, Lightroom to the right.Ask in the LR/ PS forums and provide details about your system, your files, your develop settings, other stuff. You need to be much more specific.
