HT4910 Why are my contacts on my iPhone are not appearing on my Mac?

I am set up on iCloud on both, but I am not using MacMail. Is that why? My calendar is crossing over between devices. Help, please.

After setting up my contact list Favorites on my 5c (7.0.4), most contacts that I picked as Favorites are not appearing on my Mac contacts list. Little help?

I am syncing via iCloud.
For instance:
I have my wife listed in my Contacts list on my phone. I hit the button to add her to my Favorites and she is added, appearing on the Contacts list and Favorites list. No problems there, that's how it should work.
However, when I go to my Mac and sync my Contacts in to the Contacts app via icloud, everyone from my iPhone is in the Contacts app except for my wife and a few other people listed as Favorites. 7 of 9 (Tertiary Adjunct of Unimatrix Zero-One) of my Favorites don't sync over to my Mac.
Any ideas why?
My Mac is running Mavericks but the problem existed with Mountain Lion as well.

Have you checked the filtering option in contacts? Open contact menu button > filter. Perhaps you have a filter hiding the contacts.

IPhone does not appear in iTunes - Mac / Lion

   Well the title says it all - it is specific to iTunes though, iPhoto recognizes my iPhone and imports photos without issue. I have done all known Apple procedures, trouble shoots - everything. I have the latest iTunes and am about to re-install it - we'll see if that works. In the mean-time, any ideas ? Thanks a lot !

It is not recognized at all, or you just cannot see it. In the newer version of iTunes, the device pane does not display by default. You need to either go to the box in the upper left corner and select to view the menu bar, after that select View to Show the Sidebar. It will then look like the older version of iTunes and you can select the iPhone.
If this is not where you are having a problem, then you can check one of these support doucments, depending on your OS.

Contact added in iPhone 4 (not S) does not sync to Outlook 2010

I have confirmed in iTunes that the Outlook address book is coreectly checked to sync (and confirmed it is the only one on the phone). I have also checked the box (in iTunes) to "Add contacts created outside of groups on this iPhone to:" and chosen the same Outlook group. Anyone else know why the new contact on the iPhone is not syncing to Outlook?
Pretty frustating, since I've had the phone so long now and just realized this issue! Don't know how many contacts I'm missing in Outlook.

You are trying to sync iPhone and Outlook 2010 with iTunes for Windows via USB, right?
Seems you've tried the most common solutions (reset Sync history and replace information on iPhone) for this kind of issue, but to no avail. To continue to troubleshoot the issue, I would suggest we first try following steps:
Disable third-party Outlook add-ins. Outlook third-party add-ins sometimes might interfere with the communication between iTunes and Outlook. Go to
File>Options>Add-Ins>click
COM Add-ins in the Manage list>Click
Go, in the dialog, deselect the checkbox for each third-party add-in in the list.
Try to sync with a new Windows user. A corrupted Windows user profile sometimes will cause this issue.
Please note that Outlook synchronization support for iPhone, iPod touch, and iTunes is provided by Apple support. If issue persists, I would suggest you to contact Apple support for further assistance.

Does the contact you are sending the message to use an iPhone?
The iPhone will send and receive both iMessages and Text messages (SMS).
The iPad will only send and receive iMessages.
iPads cannot receive SMS text messages.

I have this identical problem. For a while my group texts didnt show up on my ipad. Then one day they did, maybe everyone in the group started using the same os version or something. Ever since my first reply to the group there have been complaints of multiple threads. I can not find a pattern for when my group text's decide they want to create a new thread. (it doesnt happen every time) Everyone in the group has deleted the thread, we've all toggled imessage on/off etc. There still hasn't been a solution.

However, unless I specifically add the contact to my mac address book, it will be deleted from my iphone contacts upon sync. The option in iTunes to replace contacts on my iphone is not selected. Thank you for your reply. I realy have nothing else to sync - no music. Emails do work so its just my contacts I am concerned about. I'm kinda new at this but have a working understanding of the system.
I have an icloud account but the Geek Squad went there and tried but could not export contacts. I truly am not that good re icloud. They worked exclusively with my itunes, re-downloading, etc - all of the stuff in their book.
I have not tried a complete restore because I am not sure I am that good with the equipment but could. I did all of the stuff on the help page - sync reset, forced one-way sync etc but the phone just does not seem to recognize the sync. I have not gone to an Apple store to have them have a look - that may be my next step to hook up to another itunes computer. It seems simple to me - it was working fine until maybe 3 months ago - probably when there was an update. Its telling to me that the phone does not tell me there is a sync in process while itunes is saying there is - its just not biting between the 2.
I appreciate any hep - and I said, I not stupidi about these things but have kind of reached as far as I am comfortable with fear of doing something really wrong.

If they are in photos view then they are in an event unless you have a corrupted library
How are you"merging" the photos?
most common issue is either bad sort (view menu ==> sort events) or bad camera dates
select one and show event to see the event

Apple tv my tv programmes are not playing in widescreen even though rented movies are. Aditionally my photos on my iPhone 4 are also shown only in the middle of the screen? Why are not all films/programmes / photos filling the whole screen?

Just purchased Apple TV 2 & music videos purchased and films rented from iTunes play in 16:9 ratio and fill my 6 year old Samsung TV screen completely. However my photos and videos played by AirPlay play in the centre of the screen along with TV series purchased and played from iTunes. Why are not all played media filling the TV screen even though they are playing in 16:9 on the TV?

if the original material is not in widescreen appletv will not play it in widescreen

IPad Group Contacts are not appearing in itunes

I have a Group Contacts app on my ipad mini that syncs with the contacts on my iPad. I created 4 groups. I want to import those groups into Outlook. I tried opening up icloud, select all, export. Only the 1st contact in that particular group is exported. I then deleted and reinstalled itunes and my groups are not appearing.

Have had same problem and read many different posts on the discussion boards. Came to my own sort of hybrid solution that's posted below:
Backup address book.
Turn off syncing to iPhone within iTunes, and then hit Apply to make sure it takes.
Quit Address Book, iTunes, and basically everything.
Go to Finder > Library > Application Support > Address Book … move all folders out of there EXCEPT the Metadata folder.
Go to Finder > Library > Application Support > Sync Services … move everything out of there.
Reboot computer.
Open address book.
Open iTunes, connect iPhone, and sync.
NOTE: I had to play with these steps, and their order, several times to force iTunes to properly reflect what’s in the address book/contacts, but after about the sixth time it worked.

You are both using the same iCloud account which is syncing Notes, Reminders, Contacts, Calendars and other information between devices. This can be risky if your husband starts deleting your data from his device which will in turn delete it from yours. It is possible to manage multiple users using one Apple ID although it is better to use separate IDs for each person. iMessage and FaceTime which also can be setup for multiple users on one ID can be managed easier with separate Apple IDs.
You can change what syncs or remove an iCloud account from the device through Settings/iCloud. It is possible to keep the same Apple ID for iTunes purchases and then sign in to separate IDs for iCloud.
It is also possible to share Calendar and Reminders with other Apple IDs if needed rather than using one ID.
