If you've downloaded the music that you want to be able to listen to when you don't have an internet connection - you won't be able to stream or download whilst offline.

Hi,
Usually, we have an edge device for internet connection and LAN connection, like a router. So I suppose gateway is not working properly.
For further troubleshooting, please provide your network topology. DNS, gateway settings. Test if you can ping DC when the issue occur.

I can send and receive to any non iPhone user. I can send a message as a text to an iPhone user but if I'm not connected to cellular data or wifi I do not receive messages from iPhone contacts. From what I understand these message should automatically send to me as texts instead of iMessages but since the update it's not functioning properly. Please help. I've tried turning iMessage off and I still don't receive the messages until after I reconnect to wifi.

I have the same problem! Before the upgrade, if I wasn't connected to the internet, any messages sent to me from an iphone would convert automatically to a text message. I have payg tarriff, so I turn cell data off, as it costs too much to use it. I have wifi at home and work, but if I'm out and about, I don't receive texts from iphone users until I'm on wifi. iTunes match should work for that. I am assuming your friend gave you some music from a flash drive, and yor not sure if he/sh pirided it or not, and this is understandible. this screen shot should help. I also sugest looking into google play, which is not as convienet as far as combining with iTunes, but is free I bleive.

I have Sonos. No, it won't use iTunes match. It will allow you to stream your itunes media, but only the files you have on a hard drive on your network.
ETA: It does let you play other internet services such as Spotify though.

iTunes match will only work from a computer in terms of uploading new content. You should be able to copy iTunes purchases back via File > Transfer Purchases (File > Devices > Transfer Purchases on iTunes 11). Without a computer you will not be able to do any managing of the music in the cloud. There is no way to edit any metadata on an iOS device.
Also, iTunes Match is not a backup service and should not be relied up as such. With no computer you will not have any backups of your music.

Honestly, I've never used iTunes Match.
Keep in mind that iTunes Match is only for music, any other media content would not be affected.
Also, pictures synced to the device from a computer will not be moved over unless the new device is restored from a backup on that computer.
Personaly, unless the current iPhone was damaged or otherwise acting as if on it's last leg, I'd wait. There may be better options in 3 months.

You can use iTunes without an iPhone to listen to music, but you can't sync the MP3 player with iTunes

Yes, just not all of it.
As you play music from the cloud, it gets saved to your device so the next time you play it, you don't need to be connected to the internet. That's why there's a setting to "show all music" - if you turn that off, you'll just see the songs that you have with you already, and can play without internet access.
You can also choose to download songs, albums or entire playlists, and those will be available later when you don't have a connection.
