  • HT4914 How does the payment method work for iTunes Match?

How does the payment method work with iTunes Match. For example, if you have a gift card, does it take it out of that. Or is there tax? What if you cancel your subscription in the middle of the year, does it take the money for that year or not? If someone could answer those questions it would be greatly apreciated. And if anyone has their own questions, feel free to ask. Thank you.

  • I have one iMac with 2 users. Will Home sharing allow me to share music between users? (running Mac OS 10.8.2

I just seemed to get turned around when trying to share music on the same iMac.
How do I share music between two different users with two different iTunes accounts on the same iMac. My wife and I simply want to be able to share music that she purchases with me and visa versa. We each have our own iPads and I am unsure of the proper way to do this so I don't messup the syncing of our iPads.
Part of the reason I ask is that I see questions concerning two different computers. Does it make any difference that I am trying to share music between two users on the same iMac
Thank you in advance for information helping me to understand the Home Sharing process.

Hi, one question & one suggestion...
What possible things are connected at home but not at the store, inlude every cable, etc.
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

  • How does the iPad 2 rate as a sheet music display?

Hi,  I am a pianist, and I am looking for something that removes the worry of Sheet music falling off the stand in a rehearsal or concert. I'm considering getting an iPad 2 to address this. I know there are a number of apps out there such as forScore, which allow you to read PDFs of sheet music, but I have no idea how effective they are. I have a friend who was in the same situation as me. He used an original iPad to display his music, but complained that it was nowhere near responsive enough with page turning to work effectively. Is there anyone reading this who is currently using an iPad 2 to read sheet music? If so, which app do you use, is it effective and would you recommend it? Many thanks.

I'm not a concert muscian. However, I've used my iPad for piano music. It worked fine for me. I believe the app I used is called Etude. However, I don't recall if you can import your own music into that program or not.
The other issue I can see is that the iPad is, compared to sheet music, rather heavy. It's fine on the music stand of a piano. It would probably be okay on one of the music stands I used to use when I played in an orchestra (they were black metal). I think, though, that it wouldn't be trustworthy on a folding music stand. If sheet music falls to the floor, you just pick it up. If an iPad falls down, it might break.
    Best of luck.

  • How does the copyright thing work when importing a song from iTunes to iMovie.

The song was purchased legally through iTunes but does that mean I can include it in a movie for personal use?

    Absolutely not.
Well... define what you mean by "personal use".

  • How does the ask-to-buy notification determine which organizer's device to send it to?  I keep receiving notifications on my ipad but not my iphone.  my ipad does not have a data plan so if i'm not on wireless, i don't receive any notifications.

How does the Family Share ask-to-buy notification determine which organizer's device to send it to?  I keep receiving notifications on my iPad, but not on my iPhone.  My iPad does not have a data plan so if I'm not on wireless, I don't receive any notifications.

Did you ever receive a solution for this issue?

  • HT201454 How do you handle family members outside the household being a part of the Family Sharing program?  I don't want them using my credit card for itunes and/or apps on their phones - just want to be able to share pictures/videos.

Wanted to include my sister and parents in the Family Sharing group under the iCloud app, but I don't want them using my credit card for their purchases.  We just wanted to be able to share pictures and/or videos and find each other, if necessary.  Is there a way around my card being the default for them when they go to purchase something?

If you don't want your sister to make purchases on your credit card, then Family Sharing is not an appropriate way to do what you want. You can use Find my Friends to locate each other and you can use Shared Photo Streams to share photos.

  • Does family sharing allow content not purchased through itunes?

Most of my music has been ripped from my CDs, not purchased through itunes. The family sharing feature in ios8 sounds tempting since I currently have 4 of us working from a single account which causes some issues at times. Will I still be able to share the ripped CDs and other content not purchased from itunes with other family members if we split up and then turn on family sharing?
Thus far, the 5S that just arrived today is the only device with ios8 on it. The other iphones and ipads in the house will need to be updated when it seems safe to do so. We are also running itunes on two macbook pros and a few PCs.

Yes, home sharing works with both purchased and ripped music, as well as videos.  It does not allow you to move content from one computer to another; it allows you to stream content from one computer to another computer or device on the local network (or connected via a VPN).
If you want to access music outside of your network and copying it is a problem, then you might consider Match.

  • My husband and I share an apple id. How do we seperate them withou losing anything to use the Family Sharing?

    Using iPhone 4S, iOS 8
When we first got our iphones we set up to share our iTunes account so we only had to buy an app once.  Now with Family Sharing we want to separate into our own apple IDs.  We plan to get new iPhone 6 s soon and want to back up what we can to the iCloud to make it easier.  What is the best way to do this without losing any info?  I want to keep my apple ID and create a new one for my husband.

    Hi Christy,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
Family Sharing will make it easy for you to setup a new Apple ID for your husband, while allowing purchases to be shared between accounts. Take a look at the article below for information about the Family Sharing features and how to set it up.

    Hi apples-consecutive-buyer-for-life,
Family Sharing makes all of your past purchases available to other family group members, including most apps. See this article on what content can be shared -
Which purchased content can I share using Family Sharing
Note also that content can be hidden. See this article -

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Does home sharing allow me to share my iTunes library with other users on the same imac

Does home sharing allow me to share my iTunes library with other users on the same imac?

Apparently so (as long as each user operates out of a different Mac User account).
After setting up home sharing in the various different user accounts on the Mac, you need to have iTunes open in the account that you want to Home Share from.
Now use fast User Switching to get into the account that you want to Home Share to. Launch iTunes in there. The library in the other account should appear as shared for you.
