HT4914 I have more music in my cloud than on my itunes library.
How can I get what is in the cloud into my library so that I can put it on my new ipod classic? I bought the classic because I needed more music than I could store on my phone. i subscribed to match but cant do that on the classic itself. Wehn i plug it into my laptop to sync all music it only takes the music from the library not the cloud.

If you have more music on the computer than nano can store...
If you have more music on the computer than nano can store, how does it choose what goes on the iPod? LIke, a normal synching just dumps everything, what happens when the iPod can't hold everything?
Hi Eric,
Your computer will pop up with a message that it failed to update any song to the Nano. You must creat a new playlist and copy the songs there, and make sure the size is not larger than Nano can hold -
I have different songs on my iPhone than I have in my iTunes library. When I try to sync it says it wants to wipe my iPhone. How can I sync it and keep my songs on my phone?
It is from a different computer and includes songs from CDs that I created different playlists and items I purchased from itunes. The original computer crashed and I was able to restore the songs to my new computer from the backup on another backup drive but not all of the songs synced to the new computer. Now I have some songs on my iPhone that do not match the songs in my library on my new PC. This happened once before but I cannot remember how I solved for it.

Home pc is under my husband's user id, I have an iPad and iPhone under my apple id. I have more music on my iPad then on pc or iPhone. If I set up itunes synching over wifi for my devices... What do they sync to? Will the songs on iPad be added to phone/pc? Or will the iPad and iPhone be synced (matched) to pc and reflect what is on that device?
Home Sharing is designed to work on your local network not across the internet/cloud.
Stuff is accessed under the Computers column where your local iTunes library on a local computer would appear.
Home Sharing would share your iTunes content (i.e. stuff stored in itunes on the computer, not in the cloud) with AppleTV or an iPad etc on the SAME network.
AppleTV2 will not be able to see itunes content on the work computer over the internet. It's not designed to. if the work computer was on the home network it would.
iCloud is in it's infancy and is not a mature product - iTunes TV Show purchases appear on AppleTV, but currently music does not unless you are subscribed to iTunes Match. I find this rather odd to be honest, along with the inability to buy music on AppleTV2. Movies purchased in iTunes are not authorised for iCloud viewing currently either.
Maybe it has something to do with iTunes Match 'getting in the way' - i think they assume you'll use that whereas you really want to be able to access Purchased music from the cloud without subscribing to itunes Match which is overkill for some.

I just bought a 2 gb shuffle and I have more music in my itunes than it can hold. How can i sync only the certain playlists on the shuffle?
Yes. Configure your Shuffle to sync only selected playlists from under its Music tab. This article should be able to assist you with this.

Hello. I have an ipod classic generation 4 and I want to add some more music to it however my computer and itunes do not recognise the device when I try to connect it. Is it incompatible with windows 7 or current version of itunes?
It should still be compatible. Have you tried plugging it into a different USB port using a different cable to see if that helps? Perhaps, try it another computer as well to see if it's recognized there.
Otherwise, start by checking to see if it's even recognized in Device Manager. See this article for details.

Possible to have more music in iPod than on computer?
So, I'm expecting my new iPod (160 GB) to arrive shortly. It dawned on me that my computer only has an 80 GB hard drive. Now, I don't have that much music at the moment, but I got to wondering if there is any way to have more music/movies on the iPod than on my computer, since the iPod is so much bigger?
And, how would I do that?By setting your iPod to 'Manually manage music and videos', you can add music and videos to your iPod from your computer and delete it off afterwards. By doing this, the media stays on you iPod and doesn't take room in your iTune's library or hard drive.
However, if you need to restore your iPod in the future, you'll need to retrieve that data back onto your iPod as it'll delete everything off your iPod. Be sure to back up all your deleted media and data that you've added on your iPod if you're going to manually manage your music and videos. -
I have some music from CDs and recent purchases from iTunes on my iPhone 4 that I would like to sync with my iTunes account on my computer. The CDs were on my original laptap also, but it was stolen and I set up the iTunes on my new computer.
When I try to sync I get a message indicating that the iPhone iTunes will be replaced with the computer iTunes.
How can I sync and retain both iTunes?Music is designed to sync in one way only, and that is from iTunes to the phone. There is the expectation that you would backup the computer to save this data. There are 3rd party solutions to try and recover music from the phone to put back into a blank iTunes library.

I had to format the C drive recently. I have reinstalled iTunes but I am unable to add anything other than music, TV shows and movies to the iTunes library. It is not showing any option to add podcasts, books, photos or apps. These things are available on my iPhone but are no longer there in the iTunes library. Please help.
In iTunes go to general preferences and check the boxes for those you wish to see in the library.

I have an older ipod classic 80gb that I've just reset and associated with my iTunes account. It's recognized and up to date but when I sync I can't download any of my music. How can I download my iTunes library to this device?
Hello Analogue guy living in wireless world,
Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing when trying to sync your music to your iPod.
I recommend trying to sync your music again using iTunes. When you have your iPhone connected to iTunes, I recommend checking the Music tab to verify that Sync Music is checked. From here, you will be able to select to sync your "Entire music library" or "Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres:"
I recommend reviewing the full article here:

Why have all the music I have in my WAV folder been transferred to my ITunes Library? I DO NOT want them there, They (WAVs) are strictly used for EMail.
wavsYou might still be able to recover them using one of the methods discussed in this older thread, but many of them require a full functional, noncorrupted iPod filesystem in order to work properly.

Unfortunately... Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything...

However... Once you have Recovered your Device...

Using a computer, other than the one you have regularily been Syncing and Backing up to, was the begining of your issue. -
I transfered music from my ipod to a new itunes library (new PC). The music plays in itunes but when I sync my ipod and try to drag songs from the itunes library to the ipod it wont load. It shows a circle with aline through it.
Have you selected manually manage music?

My old computer has crashed with my old itunes on it. How can I transfer my music from my iphone to my new itunes library?
Use the backup of the old computer and copy the iTunes files to the new one.
However, since you are writing here, you probably didn't have a backup, so check out this user provided support document https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141
