HT4914 I Tunes Match Question - IPhones Music

Since iOS devices will start playing tracks from iCloud as they download and will store them so that you can listen to them later, is there a way to remove them from my IPhone after listening so that I still have space on my hard drive?

Hello mebeth,
You can delete a song directly from your iPhone by swiping from right to left over the song:
Remove a song that’s been downloaded. Swipe left, then tap Delete.

  • HT4914 i - tunes match

    Hi ,
    I have a problem with i tunes match .
In i tunes , i tunes match there are 3 steps  -step 1 = information  - step 2 = matchen and step 3 = upload album covers and songs
first 2 steps are working perfectly but when the 3th step starts , i tunes crashes and close down ! It does this every time and is really anoying because there are still about 5000 songs not uploaded !  i bought a service " from Apple" that only does the job in halve .
I wonder if there is an explenation  for this i-tunes behaviour or is this a technical fault ?
Does someone experience the same or heard from his problem , please help?
    With kind regards
    Istvan Derynck

Changing the iTunes preference for the iTunes Media folder only tells iTunes where it should put new files. In general iTunes expects files already in the library to remain at the same path each time it runs. If it is possible to put the files back where iTunes thinks they should be then they should work again, at which point we can discuss the right way to relocate things, alternatively try my FindTracks script.
If you converted file from something else to Apple Lossless you will just have made them bigger, not gained any quality. Was that process necessary?

  • HT4914 Help iTunes Match Question

After reading about this and I'm new, I was wondering would I be able to use songs from my playlists such as Spotify, Pandora, or other like lists?  I enjoy gospel music and I have many CDs as well as I utilize the mentioned sites.  If I had them all in one location this would be wonderful.  I have made different playlists for my family members because we all listen to different genres of music.  Secondly would it be wise if I chose this route iTunes Match to merge everyones music under my iCloud account or does everyone need separate accounts (with the exception of my 13 year old...lol)?  Thanks!
P.S.  I am so new at this posting so please forgive me if I am not posting this correctly.

You can use one account to accomodate all the songs in your library for iTunes Match as long as it will not exceed the limitation for uploading songs. You can include songs from third party sources or from CDs to be uploaded into your iTunes Match library. I recommend checking the link below for more information:

  • Can`t get tunes match on iPhone or iPad

I suscribed to itunes match on my mac mini. I have tried to turn on itunes match on my ipad and iphone using instructions in itunes help to no avail. The directions say to go to settings>muusic> tap turn on itunes match. There is no such button to tap. using newest version of ios downloaded today.

Have you scrolled all the way down in the screen? The iTunes Match toggle is not at the top. Also, you need to be logged into the iTunes Store with the same Apple ID you used to originally purchase the service.

  • I-Tunes Match - Erased all songs my cell phone

    Hi,
I purchased I-Tunes match to share music from my i-phone, I pad, and PC, but I lost all music on my cell phone, can someone help?

    Hi,
Is itunes match turned on? If so, try holding shift key whilst turning off match.
Now turn match back on, signing in with the apple ID that you used to set up match. You will be asked to add this computer, do so. Once process complete you should see all the music you have in cloud.

  • HT4914 If I use I tunes match and have all my music on the cloud, will I be able to listen to it, meaning will it be on my device when I am without a cell or wifi signal....like on a plane or in an area without service?

If I choose to use I tunes match, and store my music on the cloud, will I be able to access it when I don't have a cell signal or wifi?  For example, when I'm on a plane or in an area without a cell signal or wifi.  And, if its just cellular coverage, will it count as "data" against my limit?

Yes, it would count against your data.  The transfer part is part of your cellular coverage, whether it be from Apple's iCloud or a totally unrelated feed.
iTunes match - http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/ - see FAQ at end too
"Does iTunes Match stream or download songs?
On a computer, any songs stored in iCloud will stream over the air when played, though you can download them at any time by clicking the iCloud download button. iOS devices will start playing tracks from iCloud as they download and will store them so that you can listen to them later even if you don’t have a network connection. Apple TV only streams songs."
So, from the above, if you are sitting in an airplane and suddenly decide you want to listen to a song that has not downloaded to your device then you will have to wait until you can use your service again (or pay the airline to use their wireless).

  • HT4914 Will iTunes Match upload music from my iPhone?

    Thanks!

No, you can only subscribe to iTunes Match and upload music to it from a computer's iTunes - turning 'on' iTunes Match on a phone will, I think, remove your current music from it

  • ITunes Match/iOS 7 iPhone music workaround for excessive data usage?

I just got an email from AT&T indicating I had exceeded 150GB of home data usage this month. It was because I used my home wifi to download 5000 songs to my iPhone from iTunes Match to fill it.
I'm frustrated, since it used to be so easy to make iTunes Match work for a large amount of music: In iOS 6 what I used to do (if I had to restore iPhone and set up as new phone): Plug iPhone 5 into computer, set up phone as new, check "manually manage music and videos" and "prefer 128kbps" and make sure iTunes Match was off in phone settings. Then drag & drop 5000 songs (about 40GB) from iTunes into phone. Once that was completed (a couple of hours), I could disconnect the iPhone from my Mac, turn iTunes Match to "on" in phone settings, and I'd get a message on the phone saying "All music on this device will be replaced" which is fine, but other than taking a while to update the remainder of my iCloud stored music, it used very little data.
Fast-forward to this past weekend. After updating to iOS 7.0.2 and having to do a restore and set up as new iPhone, this approach didn't work: When the step came "All music on this device will be replaced," all of the 5000 songs entirely re-downloaded all over again, which took 27 hours and burned through 40+ GB of home data (not phone data, since I was on Wifi). I kept my phone at home, plugged in and on wifi all weekend so as not to burn through all of my LTE data.
What is the deal? If I have to do this again (let's hope iOS 7.0.3 or 7.1 doesn't force my phone into recovery mode again), I certainly don't have the time or patience to let iTunes Match redownload all music again, and I certainly don't want to use up 40+ GB of home data.
Is there a workaround for this? Have others been successful transferring music via computer first and then turning on Match without problem in iOS 7.0.2? I'm sure it worked that way in iOS 6, and without completely redownloading all the music again, since that process would have taken several hours and a lot of home data, and I have not had any problems like this prior to iOS 7.

I think a better question is why do you "have to" restore your iPhone and set it up as a new device as often as you seem to? This seems to be more of a problem for you.
I followup question is why do you have iTunes Match turned on if you're syncing all your music to your iPhone?
Perhaps you should examine how you're using your iPhone and iTunes Match?

To answer this question, yes I have. It has always worked this way for me.

    Hello, Timrhon.
Thank you for the question.  If you have uploaded all of your music to iTunes Match, here are the steps on how to enable iTunes Match on your iOS device.

  • HT4914 If I use the iCloud tune match will it free up space on my iPad?

If I use the iCloud tune match will it free up space on my iPad?

If you delete the music from the iPhone, yes. But perhaps you should be looking at what else is taking of storage on the iPhone, back it up, and delete those things as well.

  • I have subscribed to I Tunes Match on my computer where I've been syncing and backing up my I Phone.  Can I access my music before all the artwork is uploaded from my computer?

    Hi,
You will no longer be able to sync manually with match. I would suggest that you wait until match has competed its process on your computer and that you are told how many tracks are in the cloud.
If you activate match on your iOS device too soon, you may find that all your tracks are not there. Ps it is not just artwork that is being uploaded, it's music as well.

  • I have a iPad were I have opened I tunes match ect linked to my pc I have since found my old ipod classic which I have loads of music on but that was all linked to a mac which I don't have anymore, is there anyway I can sync them both

I have a iPad were I have opened I tunes match ect linked to my pc I have since found my old ipod classic which I have loads of music on but that was all linked to a mac which I don't have anymore, is there anyway I can sync them both without loosing my music, if I plug my ipod into PC it won't read it

You need to transfer the music from your iPod on to your iTunes library on your PC, since that is where you are currently syncing and where you are signed into iTunes Match.  It doesn't matter that you were previously syncing it with a Mac, and you won't need to reinstall iTunes on your PC.  But you will have to use 3rd party software such as Touch Copy to transfer any music not purchased from the iTunes store from your iPod to your iTunes library.  Here's another guide on this, which is shoter and you may find easier to follow: Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive.  Also, if you're using iTunes 11, go to View>Show Sidebar.  This will make it easier to follow along with these guides.

  • HT1473 Can I use iTunes-match to transfer my iPhone music to my iTunes blank Library?

I lost all my iTunes music due to my computer not working anymore, so i bought a new computer and the only place where i have my iTunes music saved is in my iPhone. As yall know already, if i synced my phone with this new iTunes i wil lose all my music expect for the purchases, of course. Would i be able to use iTunes-match to transfer music from my phone to this blank iTunes?

yes that should be possible ... at least it worked for me ...

  • I downloded music using a different apple id on my ipad then i changed my id to match my iphone but it isnt showing my music i bought with my other id on icloud. how can i get my music back!?

i downloded music using a different apple id on my ipad then i changed my id on my ipad to match my iphone but it isnt showing my music i bought with my old ipad apple id on icloud. how can i get my music back!?

It won't show on iCloud because iCloud is associated with a specific Apple ID.  The music should be on your computer's iTunes and a Sync will put it on the iPad (be sure to configure iTunes properly).  If you want to get it from iCloud, I think that you need to temporarily change your ID back to the old one but I've never done that myself.

  • IPhone would not let me delete individual song from library, tried deleting album to remove music from local storage, now certain songs from album do not show in iTunes match on iPhone only on computer

Upon completion of matching and uploading my very large library of music (+15,000), I wanted to see how iTunes Match worked on my iPhone. I started it and selected the first album in the list to listen to. I let it play the entire album and then decided that I wanted to remove certain songs off of the iPhone's local storage. Tried to delete the individual songs and it would not let me. So I figured that I would go back and just delete the album. After selecting delete I went back to listen to one of the songs on the album and realized that it deleted several of the songs from the iTunes Match completely. When pulling iTunes up on my computer the songs are still there but does not give me the option to upload to iTunes Match.
I have tried turning off Match on iPhone and back on (doesn't seem to do anything cause when turned off the iPhone still displays the music.)
Then tried power cycling. (Still shows the music)
Then I tried power cycling again and resyncing the phone and the iPhone still shows the music as it was on the phone.
How do I get the music to be accessable on the iPhone again.. I have been messing with this for the course of 3 hours now.. and any help would be appreciated!!
    iPhone 3GS 8GB

Actually Michael I know exactly how to delete.. The iPhone would not let me swipe to the left to delete the individual song, so I went to the album view and did it there.. The issue I am having is a bug because it removed 3/4 of the albums availablity off my iPhone.. You post proved no help because it is basic troubleshooting which, if you read my post, I have already done.. I did however figure out how to fix my issue on my own.. Basically I had to remove the album from my iTunes on my computer and upload it again to iTunes Match..
