HT4914 ITunes Authorizations- need new Apple ID for Kids

If my children bought songs under my Apple ID, and their individual libraries have grown, is there any way to get one of the a new Apple ID and let them have their purchased songs?  We are running out of authorizations.

Welcome to the Apple community.
If they have there own Apple ID, they will not be able to transfer purchases already made on your account to theirs and would still need to authorise any protected content from your account before they could play it.

  • Need new Apple ID for iCloud ASAP! Please read!

In 2003 I created an Apple ID for iTunes using my work e-mail address. Needless to say I have moved on.  I have a Macbook Pro and and iPhone 5.  I can get anything to work on my phone because of the old e-mail address.  If anyone could provide me with step by step instructions on how to use my personal e-mail that I've had pretty much since 2003 and not lose anything in the process I would be eternally grateful.  Nothing is working on my iPhone because of this.  Plus Apple has been sending verification e-mails to my old job.  I'd just like to switch out the e-mails and learn how to utilize iCloud.  Any help and I would be eternally grateful!!! Thanks!

  • Just got 4 new iPads, Do I need separate Apple IDs for each one?

Right now I have 3 iPods and 2 iPhones connected to my PC using 1 Apple ID.
Question: I just purchased 4 new iPads. One of the iPads is for me and the 3 others are for my children. Should I setup the 4 new iPads under my existing Apple ID or should set up a new Apple ID for EACH of the new iPads?

It would be a good idea to set up separate apple ID's for each. One reason is just to avoid any confusion over anything such as icloud synchronisation. Spending on your credit card so maybe purchase gift cards for their accounts so they have some money to spend on apps. It could cause a few problems mainly due to icloud, photos syncing, password synchonisation and it only takes a few minutes to set up an account. If you don't want to put a credit card on their accounts you can set it up without an account but i'd suggest using a computer to set it up as in my experience i couldnt set up an account without a card on an iphone or ipad etc.
you could put your card on their ipads and enforce a restriction on buying apps where you would need to enter a code to authorise it.
    Hope it helps

Have done both suggestions, still not working. Could it have somehting to do with my local network? I am using a wireless Internet provided by my apartment building so not sure if apple tv and my computer are not technically on the same "local network?"
apple tv and main computer are connecting to Internet fine. Just cannot see my itunes on apple tv.
any other advice? My itunes is turned on to home sharing. i entered the same apple itunes account into aple tv. but appletv keeps saying my computer's home sharing is not turned on...but it is.

  • I just changed my apple ID because I needed to change my e mail account. My new ID updated on all of my devices except for iCloud on my phone. My phone however will not recognize my new Apple ID for iCloud? Any suggestions?

To change the iCloud ID on your phone you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the new ID.  If you only changed your ID and didn't create an entirely new ID, you can choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted.  Your data will download back to your phone when you sign back in.
Save any photo stream photos that you want to keep to your camera roll before deleting the account.  Deleting the account deletes the photo stream photos from your phone.

  • Previously shared allow accounts. Need to split. What are Risks with creating new apple account for my mom

Me, my girlfriend, and my mom all share one apple account. This was ok years ago but now it's a problem. I would like to put my mom on her own account. She has a phone, iPad and Mac all linked to the apple account. My mom is not tech savvy by any means and any changes gets her all upset with technology. My concern is if I create a new apple account for her and have her enter it in She will loose or not be able to access something or something will go wrong.  I want her to be able to access all apps she already has installed via the family share To the original account.
will changing accounts be simple or will it require her reinstalling anything on her Mac,iPad,iPhone?

Thanks for the response. I thought about that but figured I would like to keep it because the login is my current email address. That may be the simplest way though. I would like to know if someone has done this and if it was a disaster or not. I recall my co worker had a hard time changing his iCloud/Apple ID login that resulted in a couple of trips to the Genius Bar. he was changing his because he no longer had that email.
I Will keep asking to see if it is a simple process.  If no one knows or ither responses, I'll just let her keep my apple account.

  • My wife and my iphones are both on the same apple id.  If I create a new apple id for her, can we still share our music?

My wife and my iphones are both on the same apple id.  If I create a new apple id for her, can we still share our music?

Yes.  If you are using two different instances of iTunes on your computers, make sure the music is on both copies of iTunes.
The person with the new Apple ID will not "own" the music, as it is owned by the one with the former ID.  But the way to deal with this is for the new ID person to do Store > Authorize This Computer from iTunes' menu, then have the person with the ID that purchased the music enter his/her Apple ID and password.

  • I created a new Apple ID for iCloud on my iPhone, but I can't seem to find a way to "sign out" or "log out" of that Apple ID (for iCloud) to sign in with another Apple ID. The only account login I could change was the Store. How do I "log out"

    Turn off iCloud completely
Depending on whether you want to stop using iCloud on all or only some devices, do one or more of the following:
On your iOS device’s Home screen, go to Settings > iCloud, then at the bottom of the screen, tap Delete Account.
Note:   If you delete your iCloud account, iCloud will no longer back up your iOS data. You can still back up your device in iTunes (for more information, open iTunes and choose iTunes > Help).
On your Mac, open iCloud preferences, then click Sign Out.
If your Mac has OS X v10.7.5 and you turn off iCloud, your calendar information and reminders aren’t stored locally in iCal. If you want to retain your calendar and reminder information, you need to back it up before turning off iCloud. For more information, see the Apple Support article iCloud: Calendar & reminder data removed from Calendar and Reminders or iCal when disabling iCloud Calendar.
On your Windows computer, open the iCloud Control Panel, then click Sign Out.
Note:   If you turned on automatic download of music, app, or book purchases (in iTunes preferences or in Settings on your iOS device), your iTunes purchases are still downloaded to your devices.
Set up iCloud on your devices

  • Transfer old Apple ID purchase info to New Apple ID for iCloud purposes

Transfer old Apple ID purchase info to New Apple ID for iCloud purposes
I currently have an apple ID that i have used for many years of ABC.  This will hold all the apps and songs etc that i have purchased over the years.  So i can currently download apps from app store using the new "purchased option" from the "Cloud".
I have just set up and wish to make a new account my main account for iCloud and all purchases.  This is XYZ . How do i get all the purchase history and account actions from ABC apple id, to map across to the new XYZ apple id.
My objective is to log into my iphone on itunes, app store and icloud using the new XYZ apple id, but still be able to view and download any and all previous purchases held against the ABC apple id.
Can I/Apple port this account over so all history of purchases on ABC apple id, is now held against the new XYZ apple id.
    Thanks

RE all those that say it cannot be done or why do i want to or need to...
When my phone (on iOS 5) had the old/main apple ID logged in and used, the iCloud page where you can enable iCloud for apps, mail, notes etc - it would not allow me to turn on mail or notes for iCloud.  Said i needed to create an iCloud/Mobileme address to use these features.
When i created new mobile/iCloud account today it worked fine for all iCloud options on my iPhone.  Also, the emailed address for mobileme/icloud was more to my needs/liking.
The new mobileme/icloud ID created today cannot have my main email address added to it as it says my current/main apple id is that email address.
    Any suggestions?

  • New apple ID for minor

I am trying to create an Apple ID for my son with his new iTouch. But I cannot get it created with the federal age regulation. how do i grant parental permission so i can set up his account? how do i get around this restriction to create his account? very frustrating.

No, you need a credit card for online privacy reasons : Family Sharing and Apple IDs for kids:
Before you begin, make sure that you're using a credit card as your iTunes Store and App Store payment method. To comply with child online privacy protection laws, you will use the CVV or security code from a valid credit card as part of providing your parental consent. If the card on file is a debit card or another payment method, you’ll be asked to provide a credit card before you can continue. After you create the child's Apple ID, you can change your payment method back to a debit card.

  • Creating a new apple id for my wife

I currently have one Apple ID and run iTunes on a Windows 7 PC. This is synced to 2 iPhones, 2 iPads and 2 iPods as well as 2 Apple TV's. All the Apps purchased, updated and shared between all the devices are controlled using iTunes depending on whose iphone etc is connected.
This has worked quite successfully till now but if we use imessage on the phones it gets very confusing and for that reason I would like to set up a new Apple ID for my wifes iPhone and iPad. What I don't understand is the implications of this with regard to all the previously purchased Apps. Will she loose access to these when I sign in on iTunes to her new Apple ID. Are there any other issues I should be aware off before going down this route. Will all my music and films still be available for her to load on her iPhone and iPad ? Any advice and help much appreciated.

    Hello Primer Driver,
Thanks for the question, and what a great question it is.
You are absolutely right, there are some tweaks we will want to make to continue the configuration you have right now. My recommendation? Create a new Apple ID for your Wife, but only use this Apple ID for iMessage/FaceTime.
There are four different accounts you can be signed into on an iOS device: iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, and iTunes and App Stores. Theoretically, you could be signed into four separate accounts for each of these. For your situation, your Wife would only sign into iMessage and FaceTime with her account, and continue to use the family account for iTunes and App Stores.

We got a new Apple TV for Christmas and it works wonderful. However, my question is this. We are on a satelitte internet system and our bandwidth is limited. Can anyone tell me what effect it will have on using up my 10 megs of bandwidth? If I run over the 10 mgs, the service either slows way down until it is reset on the first of the next month or I have to purchase additional bandwidth and it can get expensive.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

If you only have a 10MB limit on the Internet connection you might as well not have Internet access and certainly should not attempt to stream anything.
If the limit is 10GB, then you will need to be careful with streaming as most video is 1-3GB for a one hour show.
