HT4914 Itunes Match - 25000 songs limit

I reach the limit of 25.000 songs added to Itunes Match and I´d like Apple to change the limit o either select the songs to put on the Cloud. Are these options possible?

No... https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3579741?start=0&tstart=0

  • HT4914 iTunes Match vs Prerecorded Songs

When using iTunes Match, are songs that have already been recorded on the laptop, ipad or iphone preserved in the device and the Match songs that are streamed in from iCloud become available as well?  And assume the prerecorded songs can be accessed along with the MATCH songs at the same time?

I'm a little confused you said iTunes Match is not recognizing them and replacing with better quality. If iTunes Match doesn't recognize a song it will upload the version that is on your computer. If it does recognize it you'll have access to the 256KBps version on all devices immediately (wont need to upload).

  • ITunes Match exceeded 25k limit question

    Hi,
My iTunes library exceeded 25k songs, and so I went through and deleted quite a lot of albums - when you right-click an album though, it doesn't ask you if you also want to delete the songs from iCloud - I think from experimenting that I should have selected the individual songs instead - however, I've taken my local library down to 24k now but it's still saying my iCloud exceeds the 25k limit.
Any ideas on what I should do next - is there an option to manually manage my iCloud collection for instance?
    Thanks
I'm on OS X 10.9.5, and the latest version of iTunes FWIW.

    Hi,
This is a draft of a user tip I intend posting. Does it help?
"iTunes match has a limit of 25k tracks for tracks matched or uploaded. iTunes purchases do not count towards this limit.
Can you have iTunes match and an iTunes library with more than 25K?
Yes but you need to manage your library so that you keep matched and uploaded tracks below 25k. With iCloud status column added to song view (go to menu > view > view options and tick appropriate box), you can tell what has been matched, uploaded, purchased, ineligible, duplicate or waiting. You can also have a "Removed" status. Such files are ignored when match scans your library.
I achieved this by creating a second blank library - I signed into match and was able to view all tracks in iTunes Match. iTunes: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file or create a new one
I then deleted some tracks from this library - effectively deleting tracks in the cloud. They were not deleted from you hard drive and will still appear in your original library. This method works well if you have a second computer on which your library only shows tracks in the cloud.
When I went back into my original library, the iCloud status for those tracks were shown as "removed". iTunes Match will now ignore those tracks. You can now add new tracks provided you kept matched and uploaded to less than 25k. I keep a smart playlist any track with iCloud status = matched and any track with iCloud status.
If you have exceeded the limit, the iCloud status will tell you so but even after you have deleted the excess tracks, you might still get this message. You may find that using the above method will fix the problem BUT i can not verify this. If you back up your library regularly to may be able to restore the iTunes library.itl from a time immediately before you first had exceeded limit problem."

  • Why does iTunes Match download songs that I skip?

I haven't seen this question posted yet, but feel free to direct me to any pertinent posts.
I've been using iTunes Match for the last couple days, and all in all I really enjoy the service. There is one issue that I've yet to see addressed on these boards yet though; why is iTunes Match downloading songs that I skip? I listen to all my music in random, so occasionally there will be a song I just don't want to hear at the moment. I assumed that if I don't listen to a song completely that it would not be downloaded to my device. Not true apparently. I was able to use about half a gig of data in a few hours just by skipping songs. Every song that was skipped, even if I didn't hear a single second of it, was downloaded (at an average size of 5-8 MB). I sincerely hope this is just a bug and not a 'feature'.
Any insight on this would be appreciated.

I have noticed this too. I filled up my phone VERY fast yesterday.
and deleting is not easy, lots of left swipe DELETE action, took a while.

  • ITunes Match deleted songs from my hard drive. I had to re-rip them. How can I stop this from happening?

iTunes Match deleted songs from my hard drive. How can I prevent this from happening if I try it again?

iTunes Match can in no way be considered a backup service, this is due to the inexact nature of the 'matching process' (see https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4112, for more detail).
Loss of files from a Disk is certainly possible through media failure.  However, the extent of iTunes Match capacity is solely to influence the content of the cloud.  Perhaps there was a coincident, or pre-existing, failure of the disk which was simply exposed by the iTunes Match interrogation of the disk content.
There are certainly other services which depending upon your goal may work well.  For example, Google Play with gBeats IOS App works very well.  My use of Match is to synchronise across several computers and to drive Apple TV and an IOS device - other IOS devices still use sync for specific music and are complimented by gBeats for access to the full library when local mobile signal strength is high.
The strong advice to always start with a secure backup remains but if your primary concern is iTunes Match interfering with physical disk content you can relax - it simply does not have this ability.  (Apology to Sherlock, further investigation required).

  • After using iTunes Match, 5 songs have a "was not copied because the audio format is not supported by the iPhone".

After using iTunes Match, 5 songs have a "was not copied because the audio format is not supported by the iPhone".
I have deleted these songs and downloaded them from iTunes Match (they were "matched" and not "uploaded" files).  However, it still does not work.

I have the same issue with 8 songs in my library. All are "Matched" and I've tried deleting them and redownloading them from iTunes Match, but they won't play in iTunes or transfer to any of my iDevices.

  • HT4914 iTunes Match limit

I own about 2000 classical music and jazz CDs.  I assume that they would need more than the 25,000 song maximum on iTunes Match.  Any ideas about how to go over the 25,000 limit?

The limit of 25,000 is unique to iTunes.  Other services have more generous limits.  For example on the Amazon cloud service, the limit is 250,000 songs.
Both iTunes and Amazon charge $24.99 a year.

  • HT4914 iTunes Matching Songs WITHOUT Local Files

So my music collection is nearly 12,000 songs. I built it for nearly 10 years, and cherish it. Sadly, however, the external hard drive I stored all my music on is dead, and the backup files are corrupted. (This is what happens when you go back to Windows ) So now I'm left with options of expense: A) I can hire a data recovery service (my first quote was $1,200- completely out of my price range), B) Start allllllll over again, or (hopefully) C) sign up for iTunes Match and match all of the music that could at least be found in the iTunes catalogue.
Here's my question: If I sign up for iTunes Match, and drop the (totally reasonable) $25, will iTunes scan my Library as it is, or does it require that I have the local files? If it needs the local files, then the $25 will be for little more than the option of giving me cloud access to the few files I have left. However, if it scans my library (which I'm generally very anal about organizing) and gives me even HALF of my music back, then it's worth its weight in gold.
Too Long, Didn't Read: does iTunes Match scan local files, or does it just look at the library that is still in my iTunes?
    Please help!

Well, the computer was on all day while I was at work, but I don't think anyone would have come in the house and deleted my music files from iTunes. Anyway, I think the best approach would be to add the entire media folder back into iTunes. I tried it with one song and it initially showed a duplicate, but then iTunes match did an update and removed the duplicate song. I'll do that this evening just before I'm done using the Mac and let the process happen overnight.

  • HT4914 iTunes Match song maximum

iTunes Match "stores" 25,000 songs from your library as mentioned. What happens if you have more than 25,000 songs in your iTunes library?  How does it choose the songs to match and make available for the other devices?

You will need to have downloaded your music onto your iPad (or other device or computer) if you want to play it on that deivce whilst you don't have an internet connection - so whilst you are still connected, from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5637 :
Once your iTunes Match library has finished syncing to your device, you can browse by Genius Mixes, Playlists, Artists, Songs, Albums, Compilations, Composers, and Genres. When you find a Genius Mix, playlist, album, or artist you like, simply tap on the Genius Mix or song title to begin streaming that song or playlist. If you begin streaming a song from a playlist, iTunes Match will continue playing through the rest of your playlist after the initial song has finished. If you'd like to download the song or playlist to your device, simply tap the download button to the right of the song or at the bottom of the playlist.

  • HT4914 iTunes Match, find lost songs

I've lost my songs that I bought in iTunes on my iPhone, will iTunes Match help me get them back?

I guess the iTunes store is not recognizing your computer. Did you de-authorise your computer after you uploaded to iTunes Match. Did you register your new computer with a different User ID? Do you have Genius turned on (which needs to be on as it works in conjunction with iTunes Match. Did you authorise your new computer?
You paid for ITunes match & uploaded your songs using a different computer. So there are obviously one or more steps which need to be taken to download your media from the iCloud. Either someone else with more expertise than I can help you, for example, Limnos Limnos ; or King_Penguin King_Penguin or Chris_CA https://discussions.apple.com/people/Chris%20CA would probably be able to help you better than I.
    I don't work for Apple, I'm only a volunteer, if you can't get help from someone as mentioned above there's always Kappy (who is extremely busy) Kappy ;
then I would recommend going through the tried and true channel here > http://www.apple.com/support/contact/
Sorry I couldn't solve your problem myself. I'm about ready to retire from this game.
    Peace Out.

  • HT4914 iTunes match not uploading songs

I have uploaded a vinyl copy of quite a few artists from my collection and it appears that iTunes match is not recognising them and replacing the uploaded content with one of better quality as stated!
The one which came to my notice first of all was Queen- She Makes Me ( Stormtrooper in Stilletos) from The album Sheer Heart Attack. This album is in iTunes!
    Any ideas??????

I'm a little confused you said iTunes Match is not recognizing them and replacing with better quality. If iTunes Match doesn't recognize a song it will upload the version that is on your computer. If it does recognize it you'll have access to the 256KBps version on all devices immediately (wont need to upload).

  • HT4914 itunes match storage capacity?

What is the capacity of icloud compaired to icloud match??

iTunes Match is for up to 25000 songs, iCloud storage is separate and they provide different functions. If you subscribe to iTunes Match then you don't use any of your iCloud allowance for storing your music (iCloud is for backing your photos, documents, files etc.). Also iTunes purchases aren't included in your iCloud allowance, what you can re-download from the store depends upon what country that you are in
    About iTunes Match : http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/
Once your music is in iCloud, you can play it from any of your devices. Just browse the complete list of all your music stored in the cloud and tap to play to it. You can store up to 25,000 songs in iCloud (more if songs are purchased from the iTunes Store), but only what you play or download is stored on your device. Tap the iCloud download button to download music from an artist, album, or playlist. So you have immediate access to a huge music library without having to worry about the storage space on your device.

  • HT4914 Itunes match not updating play list?

I've been using itunes match for about a month and noticed something annoying.
When I add a song to a certain play list that play list dissappears from itunes match on my phone.
I restarted my phone...re-synced imatch thru itunes and nothing..
Anybody else have this problem or know how to fix?
    Thanks

    Dear Jim
thank you so much. Thank you for your quick reply, sorry I did not respond sooner, but  I wanted to make sure it worked before replying, hence I had to wait for iTunes Match to do its thing.
You are are a genius Jim, so a big thank you.
So in a nutshell for all, Jim's solution works for those who have gone over their 25,000 limit by mistake, and are unable to update match, you can with Jim's solution, delete stuff in the iTunes Match cloud and in effect have your original iTunes Match library as you want it.
    Thank you Jim

  • ITunes Match and Song information remaining on the iPhone

Is any one else experiencing this issue?
I am using an iPhone 4, running 5.0.1 and using iTunes Match.
I either stream or download a song from the cloud on my iPhone and then delete it from my device.  After it is deleted, I connect my iPhone to my Mac and go to the Music folder under the device on the left hand side of iTunes. The information for the streamed and downloaded songs remaing on the device.  I looked at the available space before and after a test I did on my iPhone for what I think is a potential bu in iOs 5, and while the songs were deleted on the device the information remains (ie. song name, artist, kind, etc).  This information takes up space on the device, even though it is just text.  In addition, the songs that were streamed and downloaded to the device are shown greyed out, they are not selectable , and there is no way to delete them without a restore.  Also, if you download the same song multiple times (ie. 2x) , the information is shown 2x.
The funny thing is, this does not happen on my iPad 1.
I tried calling Apple about this and their solution is to restore the device and or they do not seem to understand the problem.
Please let e know if anyone else is experiencing this as well or if there is an actual solution.
    Thank you.

  • Weird iTunes Match issue - song correct on computer and iPhone, wrong on iPad

    I hope someone can help.
I use iTunes Match for my mobile devices, with my main home PC being the golden source/reference.
Most songs work fine on my computer, iPhone 4S and iPad3 using iTunes Match ... however a few songs are incorrect on the iPad.
For example, Kelly Clarkson "Breakaway" is plays correctly on computer and iPhone, but a completely different Kelly Clarkson song plays on the iPad (a song we don't even own!).
    Troubleshooting ...
    a) on iTunes on my computer, iTunes match is up to date and the 'problem' songs are listed as "Matched" in the iCloud Status column.
    b) on the iPad, I've tried turning off iTunes match, then re-enabling iTunes match - same issue occurs - the Kelly Clarkson songs show up, but the 'wrong' song plays
    c) I've tried restarting the iPad ... no change.
I've read other threads with similar issues - they say contact support - but my systems are out of full warranty and there doesn't seem to be a way of contacting support without paying.
Does anyone have any suggestions ?

Hi - thanks for the response.
    A couple of points/questions
    1) I did further debug by deleting the song from my computer (leaving the song in iCloud) - then downloading from iCloud .... the song labeled Kelly Clarkson 'Breakaway' in iCloud is not the correct song .... this isn't coming from my system, as the song was 'Matched', not 'uploaded'.
    2) I rechecked my iPhone ... the Kelly Clarkson song 'Breakaway' which plays correctly is stored locally on the phone ... it's not coming from iCloud/Match.
    3) You mention removing "Music" from the iPad .... how is that possible? I can remove apps that I've downloaded, but don't know how to remove 'native' apps (like safari, music etc.). Also - based on my further troubleshooting, this clearly isn't an iPad issue any more ... it's an error with Apple iTunes Match catalog.
Any ideas on how to contact Apple (without me paying!) to have this resolved?
